Photos and Description of the Warrensville vacation farmhouse rental
Farmhouse, 3 Bedrooms + Den, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

This historic farmhouse sits in the shadow of Three Top Mountain on a picturesque bend in the North Fork of the New River in Ashe County. In a private setting of 1.3 acres but with easy access to a main road, it is 20 minutes from the shopping, galleries, and restaurants of West Jefferson and 40 minutes from Boone. The trout-stocked river provides opportunities for fishing, swimming, canoeing, and tubing, and the property is also bordered by a rushing creek. Some rooms have been restored to expose the wormy chestnut planks that formed the original interior walls, including a large upstairs bathroom with a whirlpool tub and a spectacular view of the river. The original river rock fireplace contains a new soapstone wood stove for chilly nights, and front and back porches provide plenty of room for relaxing and entertaining outdoors. Water has been supplied to the house from the same spring for over 100 years, and the original spring house now opens onto a large pen, providing pets with shelter and a constant supply of fresh spring water.

First floor has mud room with washer/dryer, kitchen, dining room, bedroom, living room, full bath, and foyer with wood stove. Second floor has full bath with whirlpool tub, 2 bedrooms and sitting room. Two queen and one standard beds. Relax on three decks--two on the first floor and one just off a bedroom on the second floor. Satellite TV, DVD, VCR upstairs and downstairs. Well-stocked library of movies and books, including large selection of kids' movies. Kitchen includes glass-top stove, refrigerator with ice maker, microwave, island, and dishwasher.

The Owner purchased this farmhouse in 2005
Why The Owner chose Warrensville

We have always wanted a historic home with a combination of mountains, river, and creek, and this place has all three. We also enjoy gardening, fishing, canoeing, relaxing, and having room for our animals to roam.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Family members can walk out the back door of this beautiful historic home and jump in the river, fish, canoe, and raft or tube. We love to sip our morning coffee on one of the decks in our favorite rocking chair, and stroll along the riverbank or sit in the swing by the river in the evening with a glass of wine. We also love to go out to dinner in the excellent restaurant towns within an hour of the property, or catch a world-class concert or theatrical performance on the campus of nearby Appalachian State University or Emory & Henry College, or at the Barter Theater in Abingdon.

Had a wonderful Christmas week!!!

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful rustic farm house. From the moment we walked through the door we felt comfortable, like we had been there before. The house is easy to find and the people in the surrounding area are wonderful. The house has all of the amenities you need plus a couple extra, like a wonderful tub and soapstone wood-stove. I would highly suggest this property for your next vacation.

Perfect Setting to Ring in 2013

Submitted: January 3, 2013 Stayed: December 2012
This property far exceeded our expectations. We made a fairly last minute decision to travel to the mountains at the end of the year and were lucky enough to discover this historic farmhouse. Lisa & Dave could not have been more responsive and helpful--with the booking process, during our travel to their home (the weather was threatening and they were in contact throughout the day with updates) & throughout our stay. The listing pictures show just how beautiful the setting is and how charming the house is on the outside. We had snow while we were there and it made the house and its surroundings even more beautiful (if that's possible!). However, the pictures of the inside don't begin to show just how great he house is. From the moment you walk into the well-stocked and updated kitchen and as you explore all of the charming and well-decorated rooms, you can tell how much love and time has been poured into the home. Lisa & Dave even left an amazingly detailed history of the home and we were fascinated to see & understand the work they've done to restore and/or modernize the house. We feel so lucky that they were willing to share their farmhouse with us and we can't wait to come back!

Sweet Riverview Weekend

5 of 5
Submitted: August 24, 2012 Stayed: August 2012
Our weekend at the Riverview Inn was all we hoped it would be. The house is mountain rustic, but with enough modern amenities to make it comfortable even for city folk. We were able to enjoy the bluegrass music from the festival at the community center across the creek without even leaving the deck. At night, the upstairs bedroom window let in the cool mountain breeze and the soothing sound of the river below. No heat or A/C needed during our stay. We've already re-booked for an extended weekend in October, and we're recommending it to several friends & family members.
