PET FRIENDLY HISTORIC FARMHOUSE ON NEW RIVER NEAR BOONE

Warrensville Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description

Farmhouse, 3 Bedrooms + Den, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

This historic farmhouse sits in the shadow of Three Top Mountain on a picturesque bend in the North Fork of the New River in Ashe County. In a private setting of 1.3 acres but with easy access to a main road, it is 20 minutes from the shopping, galleries, and restaurants of West Jefferson and 40 minutes from Boone. The trout-stocked river provides opportunities for fishing, swimming, canoeing, and tubing, and the property is also bordered by a rushing creek. Some rooms have been restored to expose the wormy chestnut planks that formed the original interior walls, including a large upstairs bathroom with a whirlpool tub and a spectacular view of the river. The original river rock fireplace contains a new soapstone wood stove for chilly nights, and front and back porches provide plenty of room for relaxing and entertaining outdoors. Water has been supplied to the house from the same spring for over 100 years, and the original spring house now opens onto a large pen, providing pets with shelter and a constant supply of fresh spring water.

First floor has mud room with washer/dryer, kitchen, dining room, bedroom, living room, full bath, and foyer with wood stove. Second floor has full bath with whirlpool tub, 2 bedrooms and sitting room. Two queen and one standard beds. Relax on three decks--two on the first floor and one just off a bedroom on the second floor. Satellite TV, DVD, VCR upstairs and downstairs. Well-stocked library of movies and books, including large selection of kids' movies. Kitchen includes glass-top stove, refrigerator with ice maker, microwave, island, and dishwasher.

Dave Haney and Lisa Baldwin are educators and musicians; we have lived in and worked on this house for six years. We live only an hour from the property, so we are available for any assistance you may need. Dave is an administrator at Emory & Henry College in Emory, VA, and Lisa is a teaching artist and elementary school teacher.

Lisa Baldwin and David Haney purchased this farmhouse in 2005

We have always wanted a historic home with a combination of mountains, river, and creek, and this place has all three. We also enjoy gardening, fishing, canoeing, relaxing, and having room for our animals to roam.

Family members can walk out the back door of this beautiful historic home and jump in the river, fish, canoe, and raft or tube. We love to sip our morning coffee on one of the decks in our favorite rocking chair, and stroll along the riverbank or sit in the swing by the river in the evening with a glass of wine. We also love to go out to dinner in the excellent restaurant towns within an hour of the property, or catch a world-class concert or theatrical performance on the campus of nearby Appalachian State University or Emory & Henry College, or at the Barter Theater in Abingdon.

Just what the doctor ordered

This place was amazing. It was clean and had everything we needed if we just wanted to stay there the entire time. The house was right on the river so my son was able just to go tubing right in the backyard. We even caught a few trout in the evenings. Our dogs were thrilled to be able to swim in the backyard. We loved that the house was restored and kept the features of its original state. It was not swamped with tourist and you are twenty minutes away from anything you need. We were close to state parks and kayaking and tubing places which we went each day to fish. This place is a treat!

Great Place for a Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5
The Riverview Inn is a perfect location for a summer vacation. The home is amazing with its rich history, space for everyone, and unique decor in every room. Our sons enjoyed fishing and tubing in the river. We also went hiking at Mount Jefferson State Park. This home offered space to relax, have fun, and enjoy great meals prepared at home. This rental has everything one needs for indoor and outdoor activities. We will definitely stay again! Owners were very helpful and flexible with a last minute reservation. They attend to all details to make sure renters enjoy their stay.

Riverview Inn Warrensville NC

  • 4 of 5
We really enjoyed the Riverview Inn. The beds were wonderful! We loved the river and spent most of our time fishing. We caught a few trout and bass. We enjoyed reading the history of the property and Ashe County. Our son enjoyed tubing in the River and Wi-Fi. The temperatures were a delight @50-77 degrees, no A/C needed!

Wonderful Thanksgiving vacation

  • 5 of 5
Our 2 children live in NC and neither was going to be able to come home to FL for Thanksgiving or Christmas this year so we rented the Riverview Inn for the week and I have to say it was wonderful, Lisa and Dave have a house that makes you feel at home the second you walk in, the candles in the window and the radio was playing and there had been a small fire in the woodstove we missed as we got in later than planned but we restarted that and it was so very nice. The house and the rooms are all very nice and big, we had my 84 year old father in law that took the downstairs and the rest of us were up stairs and had plenty of room. One reason we wanted to be in the mountains was the fact that we heard it might snow and it did on Wed. Nov 27 and it was beautiful, being from FL., we do not get to see that and we loved it. It might have been cold outside but the house was always warm inside.
Lisa and Dave are wonderful to work with and made it so easy to rent the house and everything was as it was stated and better. Lisa did suggest we try the Hotel Tavern restaurant in West Jefferson and we did, Paula was very nice and the food was very good, and as it was our only meal out I really enjoyed it.
Our only problem WE DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE. Love the house. Thank You Lisa and Dave for a wonderful Thanksgiving full of great memories. We will be back.

Great Place!

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful time at this place. There was more than enough room for all 6 of us and the house was well stocked! We especially loved the upstairs bathroom. The history of the house is pretty neat and the view of the river from almost every room was relaxing. The owner was very helpful and the pictures are accurate, although the place was way better in person. The only negative thing I can think of, is that we only got to stay here for two nights!
