My wife and I have a large family of seven kids. Our Turning Leaf Lodge is a cozy, get a way for our family to play, rest, and enjoy all the Ohiopyle area has to offer.
Sales at Turning Leaf Vacation Rentals purchased this cottage in 1997
About 20 years ago, I worked and lived in the Ohiopyle area. In the late 1990's, I purchased this cottage and enjoyed living there immensely until a job change required that I move away. My wife and I kept the place as a 2nd home. As our family has grown and our kids have gotten bigger, we love to retreat from the city to our Turning Leaf Lodge!
There is so much to do in the area and it definitely varies depending upon to whom your talking to at our family. My wife loves Fallingwater, Kentuck Knob, shopping the quaint stores in downtown Ohiopyle. I love being minutes away from idyllic trout stream fishing and deer hunting. Our boys love short hikes off the property, sledding Ohiopyle State Park's Sugar Loaf Hill, as well as bowling and arcade games at Nemacolin's Wild Side or skiing at Mystic Mountain. So, much to do for an active family
We love the house and have been blown away by the cleanliness and how well stocked the home is. I use VRBO for all our vacations and this is one of the best places we've rented. We had a great day of hiking here and we will definitely be back. Thank you for everything.
The cottage was very clean and cozy. It was a short drive from Ohiopyle where there are so many wonderful activities. We enjoyed sitting by the campfire, grilling, and taking in the sights. It's a perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
The property was well maintained and very clean. The kids loved the fire pit for roasting hotdogs and making s'mores after our long days of activities. Turning Leaf was perfectly located in the center of all the activities we wanted to do. I appreciated that there were family friendly versions for every single thing that we did. I have a 10yr old and a 4yr old and it was so nice that we could do everything together: Laurel Caverns, zip lining, rafting, hiking, biking, and even Falling Water had a kid tour. Overall I was very pleased with the vacation and the cabin. The owner was nice, professional, and helpfully throughout the rental process. I have already recommended this vacation and cabin to my friends. We had a great time.
We stayed three nights with our family of five to go whitewater rafting, take the kids on a ropes course, and visit Fallingwater. The house was perfect for this!
You are only a short drive from all of the aforementioned activities but still on a quiet street. We brought our two dogs and there were plenty of places to walk them both on and off the property. The kitchen was well stocked, the beds were comfortable and the individual room ac/heat units were nice. The deck, especially the new portion, was very nice and very pleasant to sit out on.
We didn't care much for the taste of the well water and bought drinking water. I suspect most people will want to do the same. The nearest large groceries are the Giant Eagle and the Wal-Mart, both in Uniontown about 20 min. away.
David was a pleasure to rent from and was very easy to communicate with. Thank you again David!
Turning Leaf is a lovely rustic cottage with many modern amenities, while not fancy, it had everything we needed to be comfortable and prepare meals. We spent a lot of time on the deck in the back yard that appears to be new. The forest setting and shade from the trees made for a comfortable afternoon while enjoying an adult beverage! Our dog loved chasing chipmunks and running through the woods.
A visit to Frank Lloyd Wrights Falling Water and Kentuck Knob is a must for those who like art deco architecture. Lots of out door sites and history abound in the area.
The owners are great communicators and accommodating.
We hope to return one day.
Wew enjoyed our stay in the cottage. our favorite rooms were the bedroom-so light and airy. the livingroom- so comfortable sofa to watch the DVD's since the weather was stormy. the owner was prompt fixing our initial problem when we arrived. thanks again for the great stay.
Myself and a few friends spent the weekend at the Turning Leaf. It was a perfect place. Only about 15 minutes from the Casino, 10 minutes from Nemocolin Resort. It had every amenity you could ask for including Firewood and and a great fire pit. I highly recommend Turning Leaf for families or friends planning a relaxing weekend in the Ohiopyle/Nemocolin area
