We always look forward to the laid back vacation opportunities that Nova Scotia has to offer. The Tidnish area is peaceful and serene yet central to so many adventurous day trips. You will be hard pressed to find friendlier people than the folks in the Maritimes. Tidnish is full of colorful characters and we love the fresh lobster and the 'down home' music.

A wonderful, quiet place. Beautifully decorated and furnished. All we needed to bring along was groceries! Just minutes from the Tidnish river and minutes to the shore! A wonderful heritage house, a peaceful location.

A PEARL OF A PLACE

  • 5 of 5
My Grandma wanted to see the Atlantic provinces so Grandma, me and my nephew set out to do just that. We flew into Halifax and stayed a few days. Halifax is at the other end of the province, but unlike BC it only takes it only takes a few hours to get to Tidnish. Although we spend the whole day getting there, driving around on the old roads, taking in the scenery and enjoying lunch in a cafe in some out of the way town.

When we arrived, Rick was there to greet us and give us a bit of the history of the area and the house. We loved the place, it is old, huge, rambling and charming. There is a huge backyard. Rick and Norma have fixed it up with antiques all through the house, but all the modern amenities are there, washer/dryer, dishwasher, etc.

We were on vacation and wanted somewhere quiet. It was most definitely quiet, no rowdy nightlife in Tidnish. Sitting out on the porch, I realized I had forgotten how many stars are in the sky.

There was lots to see and do. We were just a few minutes walk from the beach, New Brunswick and a winery are just a couple miles away. We went out on a lobster boat with a bunch of other tourists for a feast. We were just a few hours from the Anne of Green Gables sites in PEI and drove over there twice. There was a beautiful sandy beach at Pugwash (I kid you not that's the name of the place, a short drive from Tidnish). We visited some fascinating graveyards on prime pieces of real estate, with fascinating headstones. On the day we left we bought a ton (well 40 lbs) of lobster to take home at Chase's for a great price and they packed them for shipping.

In the immediate vicinity we walked and rode bikes around the area and just relaxed and had a great time. There is a bakery and a pizza place next door to each other, in people's homes. The food was great. The corner store/gas station/post office/coffee shop/video store/ice cream shop/liquor store was about 600 square feet. Very quaint, but provided us with everything we needed.

I would highly recommend this place. It was a bit large for the three of us, not that I'm complaining. It would be great place for a family reunion or a small wedding.
