The island of Skopelos:
There is a lot to discover: long, flat, romantic beaches in the bays of the rocky bluffs. Almost 70% of the island is forested! Hikers will love it here. Countless pails lead through the green, hilly mainland. The highest mountain is just about 700 m high. The island is blooming and smells lovely the whole year round. Gorse and erica change through out the whole year. Olive groves, gardens and balconies. A lot of churches, large and small monasteries and chapels are located throughout the island. Altogether there are about 400! Small fishing villages and boat harbors surround the coasts. The city of Skopelos is a pearl in the Mediterranean with its lively harbor promenade. From there you can take a boat tour to a “sea park” and visit a preservation area for seals, dolphins and a lot of types of birds. Motorboats and sailboats can be rented by the nearby beaches.
Interior view from Irini:
Through the west-patio you will get to a small anteroom with a cozy reading corner. Three steps higher and you will reach the living room with its comfortable seats and an iron fireplace oven with a large glass door. This will provide for a cozy heat during cool evenings before and after the peak season. There is more than enough firewood available. Another step leads to the open bedroom (separated by a half wall) with a beautiful iron double bed with the best mattresses and slatted frame and a large canopy mosquito net. The spaciousness of the house is kept by its open construction, the Mediterranean furnishing and the high, Greek wooden beamed ceiling. In the living room is a small dining area with a table, 3 chairs and a beautifully painted cabinet. From here you can get to the spacious kitchen or to a small south-patio through a glass swing door.
Exterior view from Irini:
Outside on the west-patio is the most beautiful place to eat, drink, read and watch! The patio covered by a pergola with bougainvillea. Here there is also a large marble table with a stone bench and pillow, plus chairs, club chairs and lounge chairs. You don’t want to miss the amazing sunsets. The small, idyllic patio garden is partially covered partially by trees and is surrounded by a stone wall and is also ideal for sunbathing. There is also a charcoal grill. There is a parking space in front of the garden gate.
