Cottage in the Cove (Perfect for two. Sleeps 2 - 4.)

A Perfect Choice! This pretty, private Cottage, with cloistered pool, is in the desirable Upper Cove, Cathedral City area of Palm Springs.

Popular with couples, as well as single guests vacationing with pets -- all seeking wonderful weather and outdoor activities. High above the valley, and just minutes to golf, dining and many activities -- a great combination!

Sited above Terrace Road, views of Palm Springs' Coachella Valley are always expansive and especially spectacular at night. Splendid views of the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountain ranges change hourly, and the light of the tram traveling to the peak is an every-evening treat.

Fewer than 5 miles away -- less than a 10 minute drive -- is Palm Springs' Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort, recently rated “One of the Best Places to Play” by Golf Digest. Also nearby . . . additional public and private Golf courses, Tennis Courts, other Sports and Fitness activities, popular Walking and Hiking trails. Balance all that healthy activity with many excellent delis and restaurants!

For our month-long guests, we include two additional benefits:

First, the benefit of inviting 1 or 2 guests of their own for an overnight or for a weekend, with no charge for additional guests. (Limited to six nights total for the month . . . examples: two guests for three nights; or one guest for six nights.) A daybed accommodates.

We offer this pretty, private cottage, gardens, patios and pool with dual goals ~ maintaining a pristine property and fulfilling our guests’ expectations.

The cottage is tiled throughout, with generous living space. The living room with beamed ceiling, fireplace, and ceiling fan is open to the inviting kitchen. With a large secluded pool, three patios, and a spacious open floor plan, the cottage provides generous space for a variety of activities.

Step through double-sliding kitchen doors to the south-facing flower garden and patio with gas grill. In view of the kitchen and south bedroom, this enclosed area is secure for vacationing pets. The second view from the kitchen is of the western mountains through a full glass door leading to oversized, covered parking. Full-sized washer and dryer are conveniently located between kitchen and parking. The large laundry/utility room provides abundant space for storing sports equipment and luggage, maintaining a neat and uncluttered living area.

In the open living room, a sectional sofa, recliner and many comfortable chairs offer seating choices near fireplace, windows, books and television. Several tables provide places for games, computer, dining and snacks. The dining table and seating is window-side with mountain views -- add your favorite music. Or choose trays in front of the large-screen television and enjoy a movie. Ottomans, art, lamps and accessories complete the room.

Separate from the living area, two bedrooms and a bath connect through a hall with built-in linen cabinet. The large linen cabinet holds high quality, high thread-count bed linens and a generous supply of towel sets in a variety of colors. Bedrooms are serene, with ceiling fans, mattress choices (firm with pillow top and medium with feather bed top), a variety of pillows, down blankets, light quilts and several sets of linens for each bed. Light-blocking shades in bedrooms encourage late morning sleep and after-lunch and after-swim naps.

At the umbrella-shaded patio table on the upper terrace, set a midday picnic overlooking the pool and the valley beyond to the north, or enjoy late day refreshments and desert garden views enhanced by low level lighting on timers.

This is our fourth Palm Springs home.

The location is fabulous, with easy access to golf, hiking trails, great restaurants and all the activities of Palm Springs and surrounding communities. Flights are convenient and the airport is easy to navigate.

We never tire of the views from the Cove -- valley and mountains change hourly with the light and the night sky is clear and filled with stars.

Our cottage is located on one of the short, quiet streets above Terrace Road. Adding to the advantage of little vehicle traffic are splendid views and excellent breezes. The Cove altitude is 851' (the valley floor is 411' and the top of 'tram mountain' is 8516'.)

The cottage is sited high with privacy and wonderful views in all directions. We face NE, with sheltering eaves, which means the large windows catch the best breezes and direct sun never touches the front door.

What makes this house unique

One of the best rated golf courses in the valley sits within five miles and is open to the public. Excellent restaurants are plentiful with varied menus and styles of dining. We enjoy golf at several public and private courses year-round.

The cottage is designed for a variety of vacation activities. Inside and out, patio, terrace and poolside, desert garden and lush enclosed backyard, offer swimming, sunning, music, smart TV, games and cards, reading, wifi/dsl connections, napping, dining, and entertaining.

The oversize pool is a luxury -- perfect for laps, using the float or stretching out on the long lounge chairs nearby. Sited in the most secluded part of the property, it is walled and surrounded with tall plantings.

The new kitchen makes meals and snacks a pleasure. Take out and calling for delivery are great options also!

Wonderful vantage points make meals and refreshments special -- near windows with great views, on the upper terrace overlooking the pool, trays for portable picnics and snacks.

During annual 'working vacations', we happily tackle cottage projects. New privacy gates, pool fencing, a desert entry garden, lush enclosed back garden, and tall rows of ficus providing wonderful privacy for the pool patio and the upper terrace are results of our vacation time.

All windows and doors are double-glazed and tinted; all bedroom windows have light-blocking shades; 'Coolaroo' solar shades roll-down on exterior West wall. Tiled throughout. For guests staying longer than two weeks, a complementary mid-stay cleaning. Weekly pool and garden maintenance.

Charming and Relaxing!

My husband and I spent a week at this lovely cottage and could not have been more pleased! It was immaculate, well stocked, centrally located and the landlord was a pleasure to deal with - both by email and while at the cottage. The neighborhood is very quiet so mornings on the patio while having coffee were quite enjoyable. It is only a 10 minute drive from the airport which was also an excellent feature. I would highly recommend staying at this cottage to anyone spending time in the Palm Springs area. You will not be disappointed!

We so enjoyed Laura's cottage in Cathedral Cove! Casual and comfortable, with a well furnished kitchen. An added touch: lovely abstract art throughout. Several areas for sunning and reading outside. This is a great neighborhood for walking with enough slope to the hills to get a bit of a workout. Very livable for us & our two canines. And finally, our host Byron was exceptionally helpful and friendly.

Wanted to stay longer!

We drove over 3000 miles to get here and this cottage was worth every mile. I don't vacation without my dogs and this cottage was perfect for them as well. The yard and patio areas are wrought iron gated and have walls for security. The landscaping is lovely and the tall vegetation surrounding the cottage creates privacy as well. I also liked that the entry gate for the driveway would lock which was an additional layer of security and privacy. All of the amenities were either new or nearly new and everything was clean and well maintained. You can enjoy everything about this home both inside and outside. There is a nice gas grill by the kitchen door that we used frequently. We were also able to grill dinner a few times for a couple of local friends who enjoyed sitting outside and enjoying the beautiful mountain and desert views with us. We were in need of nothing during our stay.

Just about anything you need our enjoy doing is within a short drive. Amazing restaurants to please any palate and activities that are too many for me to list. Highway 111 through downton Palm Springs has many excellent restaurant choices and there's quite a few small shops all you need to do is park your car somewhere and take a walk and enjoy the shops and restaurants. My favorite there was LuLu's Bistro.

I felt so comfortable and relaxed so much here that I almost forgot that this really wasn't my own home. It was such a great vacation for me that I'll be making the 3000 mile drive with my pooches again and returning for another stay next year.

My wife and I spent a delightful week at this property. We found it to be comfortable, well equipped, well maintained and welcoming. We'd certainly consider renting this property again for future trips to Palm Springs. A great getaway and a terrific value.

I spent 1 month at this rental in Cathedral City, CA. This home is situated in a quiet neighborhood... the Cove area. The location is perfect. It is only 10 minutes away from Palm Springs, but in a very peaceful environment.The Joshua Tree National Park, Aerial Tramway,Cabot Pueblo Museum, Palms to Pines Drive and Aqua Caliente Indian Canyons are all a 1 hour or less drive away.The Canyons and Palms to Pines drive are only 10 minutes away. There is a fully equipped kitchen and a Trader Joe's (as well as other grocers) nearby so you don't have to eat out, but if you want to:
Restaurants in Palm Springs that I enjoyed were Lulu's, Fisherman's Grill, Las Casitas and for the vegans or vegetarians...Palm Greens. Pappy and Harriet's in Pioneertown (out by the Joshua Tree Park area) was great fun. A drink at the Ingleside Inn (at Melvyn's) is a must for some retro Sinatra/Dean Martin/Sammy Davis Jr. style fun. The piano player/singer is amazing.The Thursday night street festival in Palm Springs is very entertaining, and the fruit vendors there have a very reasonably priced, large selection of fruit.
The house itself is charming, bright and airy. The furniture is quite comfortable, and there is a large screen tv and a dvd player. A landscape screened, totally private pool is in the front of the house. The entire property is beautifully landscaped and secluded ...there are retaining walls across the front, sides and back. The driveway is gated, and the backyard is entirely secure for pets. The views are of palm trees and mountains. At night there are twinkling city lights in the distance from the front terrace. It is the perfect place to relax, after a day of shopping in Palm Springs, or hiking in the Indian Canyons.
The manager was very helpful with suggestions for activities, places to walk the dog, hiking trails, restaurants in the area, and neighborhood businesses. He went above and beyond to make sure that my guests and I were happy and comfortable.The owner was a pleasure to correspond with, and more than willing to answer any questions.I hope to return to this rental in the future. I will definitely be recommending this property to my family and friends.
