Cody is a unique western mountain town, known for its friendly, easy-going people and unparalleled outdoor activities. Yellowstone National Park is 55 miles away, and the drive to get there is just as spectacular as anything you will find in Yellowstone.
Stroll downtown and shop and eat. Make sure to stop by The Irma Hotel, established by Buffalo Bill Cody himself. The Buffalo Bill Historical Center is a fantastic museum that you won't want to miss - in fact, it's really five different museums in one. The Cody Night Rodeo occurs nightly in the summer.
There are numerous outdoors activities. You can hike in the wilderness of the mountains, or you can head east and hike in the desert. The kayaking, mountain biking, bouldering, and rock climbing possibilities are endless. The fishing and hunting opportunities are spectacular. The Shoshone River, which is a Blue-Ribbon trout stream, flows right through town, but originates just outside of the East Entrance of Yellowstone.
