Comfortable and Charming California Living

We stayed here with our two young children and found it to be a well maintained and comfortable rental that gave our two kids a fun taste of California living (literally since the owner encouraged us to partake of her wonderful vegetable and fruit garden which included strawberries, grapefruits, artichokes and lemons). The house is one-story so perfect for small children and has an incredible garden, yard and gazebo where we ate and hosted guests. You'll need a car here (street parking is ample) as it's not in walking distance to restaurants or the beach--although people without young kids could certainly reach these places using the bikes the owner provides. But a car is essential in LA anyway and we were a quick drive from many of the attractions of the West Side. There is a tenant in another cottage in the back of the property but we found him to be not only a friendly presence but a huge help answering our questions! Our cottage was tastefully appointed and was unusually well-stocked for a rental (we have stayed in many); the owner was also very helpful in providing a pack n' play for our youngest. I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a quiet, comfortable retreat that gives you a taste of real California living.

Delightful Cottage

My husband and I have stayed at several places in Venice, and this is our favorite! The decor is fun and eclectic, and everything is sturdy, so you don't worry that you're going to break something. Everything is clean and convenient, with lots of amenities. We loved the fragrance of the gardens, and picking fresh salad greens, grapefruit, lemons, limes and avocados was a delight.

The four bikes that are available are such a gift! We biked down to the beach a couple of times, and stopped at a wonderful farmers' market on the way home once. The cottage has everything you need - it just felt so homey. The bathroom is spotless and the shower is nice. There are plenty of towels and even beach towels.

The appliances are all like new, and the kitchen has all kinds of dishes and cooking things. You are able to have people over with no problem. There is even a piano! The washer and dryer are convenient and wonderful.

We were there with our 23 year old son to visit another son and celebrate Easter with him and his family. We even had an Easter egg hunt in the back garden.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

Great place

It's a really nice place to stay in LA. We were 2 weeks there and we had a real good time. House was clean and equipped with every possible things we needed. Wonderful garden with lemons, grapefruit and limes. Bus stop just a 3 min away. We took buses traveling to Vinice beach and also to Santa Monica. Car rental was close and prices were reasonable and for 8 days we used the car. There was no problems finding a parking place in front of the house. Grocery was within walking distance. Internet WiFi worked very good. Gazebo, music outdoor and the grill was super! Paul (the caretaker) was very helpful with all information, thanks Paul!
Whenever we are in LA again we will stay at your place Jennifer, Thanks.

Comfy and Cozy!

Jennifer's house was exactly what we were looking for! Her house is lovely and quite comfortable. She has provided just about everything you need for an enjoyable stay. (I was so excited to find a french press!) The location is great too! Easy bike ride to the beach. Although it was early in the year, the garden smelled wonderful! We were able to have fresh lettuces, lemons, limes, grapefruit and Paul even brought us some tomatoes. Speaking of Paul (the caretaker) what a nice guy! Very helpful and had great suggestions for navigating the area. We highly recommend this property for a couple or a small family. Only wish the weather had been warmer, so we could've taken advantage of the gazebo. We had a great time! Thanks Jennifer! If we ever get back to the LA area, we'll be sure to let you know!

Visiting our son

We had such a good time while staying at this property. It is beautifully furnished, just like the posted pictures and well stocked with anything needed but your own personal groceries. It is close to the areas we visited such as Santa Monica Pier, Venice Beach, Malibu, Hollywood and Burbank. There were bicycles available which saved us some money in rentals. My son and husband rode about 15 miles one day and my daughter and husband rode about 5 miles another day. There were beach blankets and chairs and an umbrella that we could use for our beach days. The neighbors were friendly and we felt no qualms about leaving our kids at the cottage to have delivery pizza while my husband and I celebrated our anniversay with a dinner out. The garden was great. Some of the plants weren't ready yet, but we had some fresh tomatoes and some other fruits that were ready. My daughter was sad about leaving our parakeet at home so she was thrilled that the small building in the back had some birds that she could visit and talk to. Our kids are ages 24, 16 and 11. The internet was easy to connect to and use. The television was very nice. There were games and cds. The washer and dryer was great because when I got home there wasn't much laundry that had to be done since I did some the last night we were there while dinner was being cooked on the grill and the packing was getting done. It was a very quick trip to the airport. We travelled from Pennsylvania to California not really knowing what to expect, but Jennifer seemed to be very nice on the phone. We weren't disappointed at all with the cottage or Jennifer. We would highly recommend this property.
