Experience the rich history and amazing beauty of Summer Haven, the barrier island home of our luxurious Afternoon Delight house. You'll enjoy all the modern amenities and lush comfort in the midst of spectacular views and unspoiled wildlife habitats!

Home to just a few properties now, Summer Haven is one of the oldest and most famous beach communities in eastern Florida. It is a haven for nesting turtles, and a fantastic place to watch the sunrise. And at Afternoon Delight, you're just half a block from the beach!

Your first glimpse of Afternoon Delight reassures you that this is going to be a splendidly relaxing, fun vacation. The house is painted a sunny yellow, with a bright green front door, plenty of potted plants, and a nice front yard (with a driveway and big garage to keep your car out of the hot sun!). It feels like coming home, and we want you to make yourselves right at home from the moment you arrive.

You'll find 2 living spaces at Afternoon Delight: the living room, washed in soft warm tones and full of comfy sofas and chairs, and the family room, just as cozy but also sporting a big HDTV and a handsome fireplace. So if the grown ups want to chat while the kids watch a movie, no problem! And if you have a reader in the group who needs someplace quiet to curl up with the latest novel, the living room is just perfect, with sunlight spilling over the couch.

There are also 2 places to eat at Afternoon Delight, though you may find yourself taking a picnic to the beach or dining on the second-story balcony more often than not. Our breakfast nook is a sun-washed room with a round table that may call out to the game players among you. (It's also a great place to set up the laptop; you have free wireless Internet at Afternoon Delight.) The formal dining room is a larger space but also cozy and full of windows. You'll just have to try them both!

Whether you're a gourmet cook or a takeout specialist, you'll love the kitchen at Afternoon Delight. The lovely polished cabinetry, granite countertops, and island sink don't really make the food taste better, but you sure feel like a professional as you whisk around in this designer paradise! Of course you'll find all the cookware, utensils, and dishes you need, along with those time-saving gadgets (microwave, blender, coffee maker) that get you out the door and onto the beach a little faster.

As luxurious and enjoyable as the living and dining spaces are at Afternoon Delight, it's the sleeping area that may really win your heart. All 2 of our bedrooms open onto the second-story balcony, and each has its own bathroom. Add a garden tub to the mix and you have the ideal situation for long lovely evenings and late mornings -- the perfect vacation!

The master bedroom contains a queen-size bed, large TV, and en suite bathroom (home of the garden tub, which sports a private view of the treetops!). There is a walk-in shower as well. Pamper yourself to your heart's content in this suite!

The second bedroom also contains a queen-size bed and en suite bathroom, equipped with both a bathtub and shower. And the third bedroom, also with a queen bed, and features a large TV. All towels, linens, pillows, and blankets are waiting for you here, and we've got a washer and dryer ready as well.

And now the best part of Afternoon Delight: the location! You're less than 1 minute's walk from the beach here, and can hear the lulling sound of the surf from our balcony!

Note: Due to Summer Haven beach erosion concerns created by Tropical Storm Faye, there is now an area of large boulders blocking the beach access points closest to the property. This is a matter of much press (and legal battles) as a private home owner did to protect his beach home which in turn blocked the public access point. Although you can walk in between these boulders to access the beach like the locals that live near by, the nearest easy beach access is approximately 1 mile north at Fort Matanzas National Park. It has (free) parking.
My name is Steve Milo and I stay in Vacation Rental Homes when I travel both domestically and abroad. I own several vacation rental homes and listen carefully to our guests and their feedback and then opened my company Vacation Rental Pros in 2006! Our greatest compliment is when our guests refer our web site to their friends and relatives. AND, now Vacation Rental Pros is managing over 825 properties in Ft Myers Beach, Orlando, St Augustine Beach, Daytona Beach, Palm Coast and Ponte Vedra Beach. Our guests and their great 'word of mouth' have helped us expand to over 825+ vacation rentals. We booked over 15,000 rentals and received over 5,000 guest reviews in 2014.
We just returned from staying a week in Sand Castle (Xmas - New Year's Day). The house was clean when we arrived. As far as soap, paper towels, detergents, etc -- the house was not very well equipped, so we had to purchase all house things at the store. The house wifi did not work, and property mgt was pretty efficient getting it up and running. There were a lot of bugs in the house -- mainly lots and lots of tiny ants -- I did not complain about this to mgt, but I'm sure they would have come out and sprayed if I had. We played the conservatory golf course -- spectacular! Overall a nice stay in a nice house.
Very quiet, clean and comfortable. We will be back!
We have a 9 year old daughter, a 4 year old son, and a 2 year old son who were very welcomed and had one of the best times in there young lives. A few things that I was upset with were... We checked into the house to find a leaking sink in the kitchen
that smelled awful and the T.V. in the kids bedroom on the first floor with out cable (both fixed with in 30 min of checkin). Also we were unable to use the top floor deck the mojority of our second day because the roof was being power washed with us inside
the house. I was given the wrong driving directions by Vacaion rental pros so I missed a Tee Time at the Cyprus Golf club but was given a free round by the course once I used map quest to find it. All in All we had a wonderful time and we couldnt have picked
a better location for our kids first beach vacation. We would love to go back next year.
This was an okay house, but had several issues from knobs falling off of everything, to the TV in the main living room not working, but one of the main problems is the mattresses in the house. They are old and wore out. We slept in the second master?? We were so sore from the mattress, not to mention you kept rolling toward the center. It was awful. Also, I’m not sure if it was our misunderstanding or if it’s the way it’s worded on the add, but all the rooms except the Main Master are all on the bottom floor, so if you have the maximum, you are all together downstairs, and one of the bedrooms downstairs didn’t have a closet. The other issue for us was the fact that there is really nothing around you. You are about 16 miles from St. Augustine, and 20 miles from Daytona with really nothing in-between. The pools were nice, but you couldn't even get into the gym, it was way too small and packed every morning, and everything shuts down at 10:00pm. After we left, we were missing a car key, and it took two weeks and numerous calls to try to see if we had left the keys in the house.
