Overview

Ridgewood Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Welcome to Gundy's Getaway, a delightfully cozy 'Classic Tahoe' cabin very near the Lake. Don't be fooled by a glance at the map--the cabin is not right on the highway running around the Lake, rather it is a few cabins up in the delightful Ridgewood Road neighborhood. You will be set back from the hustle of the main road so that you can enjoy time out on the lovely deck.

Rustic in feel only, this pine-wrapped home has newly remodeled, beautifully tiled kitchen and bathrooms, flat-screened tv, Wi-Fi, and a large deck with a filtered lake view, barbeque and hot tub. Tahoe mountain decor and a gorgeous old wood burning fireplace round out this authentic Tahoe Cabin. Everyone in the family, including the canine members, will feel a warm welcome.

The lake is just a short walk away for a refreshing swim. A lovely community beach is just a mile away. The cabin is centrally located, close to Tahoe City and Kings Beach for wonderful lakefront dining, shopping, music and a great variety of nightlife including the casinos.

Keywords: Classic Lake Tahoe log cabin between and near Tahoe City and Kings Beach, walk to lake, sunny deck w/ great view, hot tub, dog friendly, very clean, well stocked, every convenience, cozy mountain decor

About Lisen Twigg-Smtih

Sisters Gry and Lisen Gunderson are delighted to share their family cabin with you. You will feel the warmth of their countless family gatherings over thirty some years. Gry owns and operates an equestrian center in the Fairfield area where she trains people with their horses in show jumping. Lisen lives on the Big Island of Hawaii with her family where they have a Kona coffee farm and mill.

Lisen Twigg-Smtih purchased this cabin in 1976

Why Lisen Twigg-Smtih chose Ridgewood

Gundy and Harriet loved this particular location when they decided to buy a cabin at Tahoe because of its central location to all the activities they enjoy. It's near to both of the major towns on the North Shore--Tahoe City and Kings Beach are just minutes away. Harriet loved to play black jack at Stateline casinos with girl friends, only 15 minutes down the road. Garwoods, one of the most popular restaurants on the lake, is just one mile away. Gundy could walk down to the lake for an early morning fishing expedition and the kids could just spend hours playing in the water. In winter, favorite ski resorts are just 25 minutes away in either direction, Squaw Valley, Homewood and North Star.

What makes this cabin unique

Some of our favorite things to do up at the cabin are to take walks through the neighborhood, taking in the views and enjoying the great diversity of cabins. At the top of the neighborhood is Tahoe Forest Reserve where you can hike for miles in wilderness. We enjoy hanging out down at the lake, boating, swimming, catching crawdads. A public, dog-friendly beach is less than a mile from the cabin for a picnic or sunset by the water. You can catch the bike trail just a mile a way which goes all the way down the west side of the lake and along the Truckee River towards Squaw Valley. We have our favorite restaurants that we love to frequent as well as farmer's markets and shopping, just minutes away in both directions. Sitting on the deck in the morning sun, napping on the swing in the afternoon with a good book, and soaking in the hot tub after a swim in the lake are all favorite times at the cabin.

Perfect cabin, wonderful time!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, residents of Portland, Oregon, stayed at Gundy's with our infant son in mid July. We shared the cabin with good friends from Las Vegas- Tahoe and the cabin were a perfect "in between" destination for a summer vacation. I cannot say enough good things about Gundy's! The moment we opened the front door I was completely charmed. It was simultaneously warm and bright, cozy and airy (the loft! so lovely!); rustic with all the modern conveniences a familly needs. Gundy's is a family-owned cabin, and it's history and pride of ownership is evident in countless details throughout the cabin as well.

No need went overlooked- all appliances worked great, plenty of towels and linens, soaps for dishes, laundry, etc. We had young children with us, and well as our dog, and found that if ever we needed something, we could find it very easily. LOVED that the cabin is dog-friendly! In addition to the amenities, we found Gundy's to be very clean...not a single complaint in that department.

The location is wonderful as well...close to Kings Beach, as well as Tahoe City. Plenty to do just a short car drive or bike ride away.

We cannot wait to return. I am already missing mornings on the large deck with filtered lake views, and evenings in the hot tub with a glass of wine after the babies were snuggled in bed. I cannot see how anyone could give this home less than five stars. If you're looking for a timeless, Old-Tahoe feel, and a fantastic location, Gundy's is an ABSOLUTE GEM! I wish I was able to include pictures of the cabin in my review. The pictures the owner includes are accurate (except there is now a flat screen TV in place of the older box set) but in all honesty, they don't do the cabin justice! You've got to see this magical little place for yourself. I haven't a single complaint about our stay (the property manager was also VERY responsive to all questions!). We hope to make our stay at Gundy's an annual tradition.

No need went overlooked- the cabin is fully

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I chose Gundy's Getaway for our vacation because we wanted to bring our dog. We could not have been more pleased! The cabin is perfect and is fully stocked with every thing you might find in your own home, including dog bowls!

Gundy's Getaway is in close proximity to multiple sightseeing attractions. We took easy day trips to Virginia City and Carson City as well as closer locations such as South Lake Tahoe, Squaw Valley, and Truckee. We were pleased with the amount of dog friendly beaches and restaurants in the area. The scenery is beautiful and we all enjoyed it, including the dog!

Thank you for providing a wonderful home away from home for the week! We are already talking about our next visit!

Heaven

How can you not fall in love with this cabin? It wraps itself around you like a real bear hug. It is like coming home. The deck is wonderful. Hot tub great. We had never used a gas bbq before and are now totally hooked. The house itself feels SO welcoming. We had a couple of questions when we were there and the agent got back to us within 5 minutes each time. Very impressive. I also spoke to the owner before we went and she was most helpful. Don't miss a wonderful meal at Gar Woods, a lakeside restaurant 5 minute drive away.

Gundy's Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The four of us, my husband, our two dogs and I had a great time at Gundy's. I am the the youngest of Gundy's three daughters. It was the first time I've been there in years. We really enjoyed the rustic feel of the cabin. A great time was had by all.
