Nice place to stay in Toronto

Two friend and I stayed here for four days in October. The house is just as described in the photos. It is clean and comfortable, with some interesting and unusual attractions inside, including a working jukebox from the early 1960s. There are comfortable living and dining areas on the first floor, and three bedrooms on the second floor: a master bedroom, a kids bedroom and a study with an expandable sofa-bed. The owner was sincerely friendly and helpful; he's fun to talk with, has a good sense of humour, and surprised us with a gift of a nice Cabernet Sauvignon. The house in on a pleasant, tree-lined, quiet street just a few blocks south of Danforth Avenue, near Monarch Park. This puts it in an ideal location. On Danforth just a couple minutes walk from the house are Ethiopian, Moroccan and Italian restaurants, as well as a great patisserie for breakfast. Just a few blocks walk to the west on Danforth is Greektown, with a lot of delicious Greek places to eat. Also, the Bloor-Danforth subway is a short 10-minute walk from the house, which gives easy access to the rest of Toronto. I would certainly return to this house if staying in Toronto in the future.

Attractive, well-kept house on quiet Toronto street

We enjoyed our brief stay at Parkmount. The house is very clean, updated, has every amenity, and a large wonderful deck in the back. We enjoyed breakfast on the deck each morning. The house is on a quiet street, but an easy 2 block walk to the subway, and not far (maybe 10-15 min walk) from the trendier section of Danforth. A short block and a half (2 minutes away), at the end of Parkmount is Monarch park- a huge green space, perfect for walking dogs or relaxing. Overnight parking is also near the park, a 2-3 min. walk away (you'll get a $30 ticket if parking in front of the house overnight, or for more than 1 hour during the day). The set up of the house (clean, uncluttered, well-organized) and quiet neighbourhood made travelling with our dogs very convenient. David, the owner, was welcoming and kind. If money was no object, we would definitely stay here again - it's a great place.

Pleasant and Convenient Home Base for Enjoying Toronto

The house on Parkmount is a good combination of old and new. It combines the character of an older home in a nice, safe neighborhood with a beautifully remodeled kitchen, contemporary furniture and a delightful deck in back with additional outdoor living space. Twice we had breakfast at the table on the deck and once we had a sunset dinner, talking late into the warm summer evening. If you have a car, night parking is a half block away in front of the school.The subway is only about a 5 minute walk, and it provides easy access to downtown and harbor front areas we visited. The weekend we visited was Caribana Festival, a celebration of the Caribbean cultures represented in Toronto. We enjoyed several free concerts and an amazing parade. Toronto is a fun city to explore. Don't miss a sunset walk on the beach with (of course) Canada geese floating on the lake, watching the city lights and CN Tower come on. We were also surprised that the lovely countryside and small lakes are so close to the city. We had fun seeing Uxbridge and Chalk Lake. The house on Parkmount was a pleasant and convenient home base for exploring and enjoying the Toronto area.

As the first guests of Parkmount, it was a pleasure to host the Schmack family from Chicago. Their enjoyment of the home and surroundings support it as an ideal vacation property.

Hot time in Toronto

Our family of 4 spent a week in this beautiful home in July, 2011. It is a nicely decorated space brimming with character. Despite an unprecedented heat wave while we were there, we were kept cool in air conditioned comfort. Very nice and safe feeling neighborhood, with a large community pool within a block, for free! Just off Danforth, it is close to public transportation, and easy to drive to downtown, as well. David, the owner, was very helpful and was always a phone call away if we had questions. We would definitely stay there again if we come back to Toronto.
