Built in the late 1870's, this grand antebellum home is one of New Orleans finest in architectural design. Imagine yourself in the late 1800's living in a southern antebellum mansion that boasted the finest in European chandeliers, iron work and stained glass windows.

This home has the finest of furnishings in close proximity to the St. Charles streetcar line that can take you from the Central Business District, French Quarter or to the the Uptown are that includes Audoban Park and Tulane and Loyola Universities. Come enjoy one of the greatest American cities that welcome tourist's as if it were your home 'somewhere in time'.

Given the architectural beauty of this home, the bedrooms are expansive with large doors and windows, and tall ceilings. What is gorgeous about this unit is after walking through the leaded front doors, there is the expanse of a plaster archway that adjoins the living and dining room into a double parlor. The living room then showcases 14' pocket doors.

Location! Location! Location! An architectural beauty that is so close to great shops, restaurants, transportation, the French Quarter, Audubon Zoo, Tipitina's and many, many more fantastic sites. This house is also on the parade route which is priceless!

Imagining the period in time in which this house and area were built. The craftsmanship is quite amazing; attention to detail. The house is so convenient to so many venues that there's never a dull moment.

RIPPED OFF!

We rented the house during the NADA show. When we checked into the house it was 58 degrees, INSIDE the house. The heating system could not heat the house. They called their HVAC person the next morning and we were told that the system could not heat the house. We had to check out and find hotel rooms for our employees. When we asked for a refund, they told us we would receive one, but they may charge us for the night. When we received the partial refund, they charged us 30% of the rental fee.
They did offer another house with the same results. If it is cold out, I would not rent from these people, and if it is hot out, I am not sure if the house will be cooled off.

Owner's Response: In this unit, there are six individual mini-splits which were just installed only two years ago. Mini splits are ductless heating and air conditioning products and are high quality and energy efficient. The mini splits sit up high on these 14’ walls and are managed with a remote control to regulate temperature, fan speed and current patterns. Our immediate past guests had mild weather and the mini splits were set lower to accommodate those warmer temperatures. When our new guests (4) arrived at 1am, New Orleans was in the middle of an unprecedented polar vortex with lows in the 20s and the unit may have been chilly. Given the guest did not know how to work the remote, he did write and I promptly responded very early that morning. Through phone conversations, I offered to send a service person through multiple road and bridge closures where they arrived in just a couple of hours to correctly set the remote after the guest changed all the settings. I called the guest who was out touring New Orleans that it will take a little time to heat up the large space. While the service man was present, he noticed no belongings in the unit; they had already left. The guests stated they did not want to stay and so I offered them another beautiful unit that had central heat which was something they were more accustomed to. They denied the offer. In our written agreement as drafted by Homeaway and VRBO, if a guest leaves early, the deposit and nightly rate are forfeited. We did review the unit later that same day and found it to be very warm and actually had to turn down the heat. As I explained to the guest, we quickly responded, made corrections, paid for a service call, paid for the cleaning, paid for the credit card fees, offered other quality arrangements, and returned the nightly rate for four nights of his four- night reservation during a peak conference where all hotel rooms were sold out in New Orleans. We certainly strive to be responsive to our guests needs and felt we had gone above and beyond, honoring all requests and even refunding all of the nightly rate. As evident in our past posts, we try to offer the best product and experience and all of our properties get 5 out of 5 stars.

BACHELOR PARTY WEEKEND

Excellent place in an excellent location. Perfect for a bachelor party - we had 8 people staying in the property and everyone had a nice comfortable place to sleep. Good location with lots of restaurants and bars within a short walking distance or a cheap cab fare to Bourbon or only a few blocks away from the trolley line on St. Charles. All beds, appliances, etc where very nice. Very spacious kitchen area with all appliances. After seeing the pictures of the place and then staying there I do not think the pictures do this place justice - it was way more spacious than the pictures suggest! I would definitely recommend staying here.

GREAT FAMILY WEEKEND!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this Uptown home for a long weekend of family reunion activities! Family members aged 8 months to 86 years were accommodated with comfort in mind given the spacious living areas and bedrooms. Early mornings found us on the front porch with coffee and beignets and we finished our evenings around the large dining table trading family stories and playing games.

We are quite familiar with New Orleans and knew that this location would meet our needs; which then further exceeded our highest expectations. Having a diverse group with diverse interests each person found that they were minutes away from incredible restaurants and entertainment venues by walking, driving, and taking the trollies. We would highly recommend the near by Pascale Manales and The New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood House for quick bites to eat. The BEST afternoon cool off is provided by Hansen's Snowballs! A lazy trolley ride is the best way to take in the beautiful architecture on St. Charles Avenue. Parking for our large group was a breeze with both street parking as well as parking in the rear of the house behind the fence gate.

Liz could not have been more informative, helpful or accommodating in helping to secure the house for the weekend. The photos are certainly accurate, but cannot adequately reflect the generous space available in the house. Our party was able to gather together when desired and those who needed some quiet downtime (ahem, naps...without others having to tiptoe around them) could do so without interruptions as some of the bedrooms are located away from the living area...can't do that in a hotel room!

We were provided with lovely and comfortable bed linens, an adequate supply of bath linens, a fully equipped kitchen and a washer/dryer. We wanted for nothing and will stay here again. In fact, our family members who live in New Orleans are keeping this home in mind for future events such as weddings and graduations where they will need room for more individuals than they are able to accommodate in their own homes.

Move this house to the top of your list of choices...you won't be disappointed!

WONDERFUL HOME, FILLED WITH CHARACTER!

We rented for my daughters college graduation in order to accommodate 8 family members and have space and kitchen access. The home is beautiful, excellent location and with an inviting front porch.

PROS: Great location, walk to restaurants and trolley. Quiet street, bedrooms spread out for privacy. Delight to sit on porch. Owner (Mary Jean) is local and checks to make sure expectations met.

CONS: None really unless you wish to cook a lot in which case may not have the most up to date cooking pans, and cooking utensils for making meals that are more complex.

Overall, wonderful stay, would highly recommend.

BEAUTIFUL HOME, GRACIOUS OWNERS

We just returned from New Orleans where we stayed 5 days in this amazing home. It was so nice to be away from the craziness of the French quarter and yet close enough to get there easily. The trolley is a short 3 blocks away and will get you downtown in about 20 minutes or you can drive in less time if you desire. We did both and did not find either to be inconvenient. The home was clean and charming with comfortable beds, including the sleeper sofa. The kitchen was well equipped and we did cook breakfast everyday. The residential area where the home is located is quite nice and convenient, with a large grocery store only a few blocks away and restaurants within walking distance. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch watching the world go by. We also rented the 3 bedroom apartment across the street from the same owners which was equally perfect. And although we had no issues I am quite certain that if anything had come up the owners would have been right there to fix things as they were quite gracious about the entire rental process. I hope to return to New Orleans and would definitely rent this property again. If you want to live like a local, stay at this beautiful home and be sure to visit Magazine Street for shopping and restaurants, which is so much better than Bourbon Street and close to the house.

LOVELY, CHARMING, PERFECT LOCATION

My very large family gets together every year in a different city. We rent vacation homes everywhere we go. This house (we rented both upstairs and down, plus a condo across the street owned by Liz and MJ) was the best yet. The house is just beautiful! The location - between the streetcar on St. Charles and the shops on Magazine - was perfect.
I was very happy to have my family finally come to New Orleans, and I couldn't have shown my city off better than to have them stay at this perfect vacation rental.
Thank you Liz and MJ for a memorable reunion!

To hold the unit in your name, there is a refundable deposit due immediately. The balance (nightly rate and cleaning fee) are due 30 days before your arrival. The balance for Mardi Gras is due 60 days days before your arrival.
Notes Cleaning is $150. The cancellation policy is that a full refund is granted provided a 30 day notice is offered. For Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest, a 60 day cancellation notice is necessary for a full refund.
