THEME CABIN WITH HOT TUB-2 MINUTE HIKE TO INCREDIBLE VIEWS!

Y area Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 1-4)

A cozy theme cabin with quality log-cabin style furnishings located on a private wooded lot with direct access to USFS land, it really feels like living in the mountains! Hike out the back less than 2 minutes to incredible views of the lake and Mt Tallac.

We nicknamed the cabin 'The Treehouse' because of it's wooded surroundings and comfy feel. It is two stories with the loft and main bedroom upstairs. The cabin is located at the end of a dead-end street surrounded by forest. Enjoy the hot tub in the middle of a snowstorm or at the end of a long summer hike. My family and friends have spent many fun-filled weeks at the cabin.

In the summer you can bike to Pope Beach and Camp Richardson. In the winter you can hike up behind the cabin and ski or snowboard down Twin Peaks for a little backcountry experience. We love it!

I love all the outdoor activities Tahoe has to offer and a few it doesn't: my husband and I travel the world to feed our kiteboarding addiction and to immerse ourselves in a variety of cultures.

Heather purchased this cabin in 2006

I moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1999 with the intention of staying one winter and never left. Tahoe is an amazing place! As a lover of the outdoors, it's the most incredible place to live.

Being from Oregon, my family bought a vacation home on the same street as my cabin in 1983. We vacationed in Tahoe every summer and some winters while I was growing up. I have such fond memories of all of us together laughing and playing in this beautiful place. The 'hill' behind my cabin used to be our playground in the 80's. My parents still own their vacation home just one block away.

Since the cabin used to be my primary residence and I love to cook, the kitchen is well stocked with quality pots and pans, and utensils. There's a PS3 that allows for blu-ray DVD watching and streaming Netflix. I love to listen to music and hang out with friends and family who come to visit. In the summer we BBQ on the deck and eat outside on the picnic table. In the winter, we enjoy evening hot tubs with cocktails. We almost always take advantage of the short hike straight up behind the property for views of the lake.

The size fit our party of 3/4 perfectly. (One person didn't stay the whole time). We especially liked having a full kitchen with a very nice oven, dishwasher, and laundry facilities to use during our stay. That made it easy to safe a little money from going out to eat and we were also able to wash and dry our ski clothes.

The stairs are a little steep and the bed was TALL so if you have issues jumping into a tall bed just keep that in mind. However the furniture, especially the leather couch, was very comfortable.

Parking was perfect and the location kept us with a private feeling but our daily trips to the Rally's grocery store reminded us that we were still close to everything. I'd say we were about 10 minutes from Heavenly Village, 20 minutes from Sierra at Lake Tahoe and about 45 minutes from Kirkwood.

The only issue we had was an easy one to fix. A few lightbulbs were out but we found extras in the drawers and were able to fix that ourselves. Otherweise, Heather was very reachable by email if we needed anything at all.

One thing we didn't expect was that there would be food in the fridge and in the cabinets from previous renters. It wasn't a huge deal, but just something we didn't expect. We weren't sure if we should throw it out or treat is as a communal pantry. However it did make us feel like we were borrowing someone's home instead of staying at a hotel. That was the whole point! Ha!

The hot tub was very nice after a day of skiing. Watching the stars was an activity I could get behind for sure. One night we even heard a wolf howling in the distance. One thing NOT to miss is the hike up the hill behind the cabin. The views were amazing and it's a type of quiet you can't get anywhere else. It was a little icy, otherwise we would have stayed up there to watch the sunset. Maybe next time we'll visit in the summer!

It was a HUGE plus to have the free wi-fi at the house. Sometimes the cell service was spotty but we were instantly able to connect with family via facetime. However we were a little disappointed that the cable tv package didn't have ESPN. But hey, that's a first-world problem. We didn't rent to sit and watch television. But the PS3 was nice for games and for blue ray watching.

It was a great rental. However I would say it would sleep 5 and not 6. And that's with two people in the queen, two in trundle, and one on couch. The only other thing I couldn't tell from pictures is that, yes, there's a door between bedrooms. Thanks!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the great review! So sorry about the light bulbs. Of course, all food and spices at the cabin are up for grabs. Thank you for commenting about the stairs and the bed-those are a couple of odd details cabin goers need to know. We hope to have you back soon!

Perfect little cabin

This small, but very comfortable and functional, cabin was perfect for our three person family. The layout was great and made great use of every square inch. We did some heavy cooking and relaxing and did not feel limited by the small quarters. In fact, with the cold weather, the small space was toasty warm. The cabin's location was also quite nice, as it was right on the way into town and not in the thick of it. Nothing better than hiking right out the back door up the mountain to some amazing views of Lake Tahoe. We will be back.

The cabin was fantastic! Just what we were looking for. Yes, there were a few spidey webs and a few ants, but the setting in the woods with the hike-able trail in the back, the hottub, the being away from the city- was perfect! We ate almost every meal on the deck and enjoyed the hottub every day. It was not too far from anything we wanted to go see- the beach, emerald bay, and the downtown shopping. We would very much consider staying here again!

Owner's Response: Yikes with the spider webs! I'll have to take care of that. Glad you enjoyed your stay. It's a sweet spot.

We rented for two nights to complete the Death Ride. Location to nearby South Lake amenities is clutch. The hot tub is incredible. We had 4 people, 2 couples, it was cozy and doable. Kitchen is great and we cooked a few meals as well as BBQed outside. It's a clean cabin and well kept.
The hot tub is incredible!!
