There are well-stocked grocery stores in both Seine Bight and Placencia, so you can stock up the fridge and do some cooking OR, sample the many restaurants along the peninsula and in the villages.
You can get there from anywhere! Belize is about two hours by plane from Miami, Dallas (American) and Houston (Continental); about 2.5 hours from Atlanta (Delta). There's also a direct flight from Charlotte via USAir, about 3 hours.
From the Belize International Airport you can hop on Tropic or Maya Island Air for a 20-minute flight to Placencia. You also can rent a car at the Belize International Airport or in Belize City and take an incredibly scene drive, about 3-4 hours. Buses from Belize City are an inexpensive option for 'roughing it' along the route.
The Tourism Center in Placencia Village can provide resources and referrals for all kinds of activities close to Casa Edgell in elsewhere in Belize.
Lots to do and see -- or nothing at all
Because Belize is a small country, you can base yourself in Placencia and take side trips and excursions from there:
* snorkeling, fishing & scuba (including getting certified as a diver)
* guided or self-guided trips to Maya sites
* packages to inland destinations and activities (Cave tubing and zip-lining) or island resorts or destinations (our local cayes or keys)
Of course, you can just hang out on the Casa Edgell verandah with a good book, e-reader, or laptop.

About Emily Edgell
This place is a labor of love by a family with deep roots in Belize. My brother, sister-in-law and I have taken on this project together. Our aunt and her husband live in Placencia Village and other relatives live in Dangriga (Stann Creek District) and Belize City.
Emily Edgell purchased this house in 2011
