Blackberry Hollow Cabin:

Privacy, seclusion, and the beautiful Shenandoah River!

Cabin offers a private and secluded setting which caters to nature enthusiasts, river sport fanatics, and dog lovers! This custom home boasts spacious rooms, vaulted ceilings, gourmet kitchen, veggie and herb gardens, rose gardens, private back deck, full length screened front porch and a huge fenced dog yard. Enjoy 2 acres of adjacent private river front---take the path from the cabin to private river access. River front is beautifully manicured with picnic table, firepit, sandy entrance to the river, and no neighbors to view on either side or across the river. Put up the family sized tent (for the kids) and make sure you end the evening doing a little star gazing with a fire in the 7 ft firepit. This retreat is 1/2 mile from the end of a 'dead-end' road. This quiet road is perfect for running, cycling, walking, and was recently used in a triathlon and is part of the Old Dominion 50 mile horse endurance ride.

Area Surroundings: River frontage is on the South Fork of the Shenandoah. Bird watching is popular here with hundreds of local bird varieties to view---including eagles which are nesting along the river. Shenandoah Outfitters are just up the road 15 minutes from the cabin where you can rent canoes, kayaks, and go tubing down the river. Also, several local hikes are just minutes from here--Indian Grave Ridge and Compton Falls approximately 2 1/2 miles from here. The area has several attractions to visit while you are enjoying your stay with us. The Shenandoah Valley features picture-postcard farms and beautiful scenery along country roads and the popular Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway. If you're interested in the great outdoors, you'll love the hiking trails and horseback riding in the Blue Ridge Mountains. And don't forget the beautiful Shenandoah National Park with its portion of the Appalachian Trail. Whether your trip is action packed or more relaxed, every moment in the Shenandoah Valley is a breath of fresh air!

We rented the cabin for a 3 day weekend to get away from D.C. Before we even arrived we were already receiving wonderful hospitality. Diana called us the day before to let us know the river had flooded. The water was not near the road or house but she knew it would make hanging out by the river not as pleasant. We decided to keep our days and go since we were looking forward to it anyway. Once we got there we pleasantly surprised to find out that the pictures do not do this home justice. Its a beautiful house! Our favorite places were the screened in front porch and the fire pit. Thank you for sharing your home with us, we will definitely be back again.

Charming weekend retreat

My wife and I had an enjoyable stay at Blackberry Hallow cabin to celebrate our one year anniversary. Our chocolate lab had fun running in the large pen.

The house is very charming and had all the amenities we could ask for in a relaxing weekend. The homeowner, Diana did a great job keeping us informed of all the details prior to our stay, including what to bring and how to get to the cabin. The helpful notes around the cabin made it very easy to get acclimated.

We enjoyed cooking in the updated and modern kitchen, and watched movies on the flat screen TV in the living room while enjoying a nice fire. We took a few walks down to the riverfront - we assume it would be just as enjoyable in the Spring and Summer.

We did visit Luray Caverns and venture into town, eating in some of the local restaurants on Main Street and visited some of the suggested stores in the owner's guide.

We are happy that we found Blackberry Hallow and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to getaway for a week or even just a weekend. It was charming and relaxing, we will definitely be back for another visit!

Great home in Shenandoah

We had a wonderful time at Black Hollow Cabin. Flipping through the guest book it seems that most people bring their dogs (like we did). But, it was so clean you would never know! Everything was exactly as described on the HomeAway website, except that it exceeded our expectations. We'd definitely come back!

Fabulous house, relaxing week

I have vacationed in Shenandoah Valley for 12+ years because it has always been a place my dogs could come along and enjoy. Blackberry Hollow is the nicest place I have ever stayed! Everything a two-legged traveler could need is provided. I always bring along whatever I might need, but I definitely overpacked. The kitchen is better equipped than my own. The closets are packed with extra pillows, blankets, all the comforts. The main bathroom is luxurious, and even candles are provided for a relaxing soak in the gigantic tub. Awesome! And very clean, too. Extremely well-maintained home.

This house doesn't overlook the four-legged travelers either. Diana is clearly very pet-sensitive. There's is a huge crate, extra leashes, bowls, toys, beds, even dog biscuits in a canister on the kitchen counter. The backyard area is so well fenced that even my 10 lb terrier was contained. So nice!

Diana is a great communicator, and was extremely helpful start to finish. She is very upfront that the property is a bit remote, but that's part of its charm. So do think about loading up in town on your way in to the house. It's a gorgeous, peaceful drive, it just takes a little time and care because the last 8 or 9 miles are a gravel road.

We enjoyed Skyline Drive, Shenandoah National Park, and Luray Caverns. All are just a short drive away. And I have to say the Walmart Supercenter is one of the nicest I've ever shopped.

I would absolutely recommend this rental to anyone including friends and family. You'll love it!
