Disappointing

Pictures are very deceiving and I am shocked by the previous review! I would not recommend this place and we will not return to this unit. When we arrived the unit was not clean and was obviously very dated and not well maintained at all! I do not think any renovations have been done to this unit since the late 70's when the Banyan was built with the exception of bathroom tiles in the tub/shower area and who knows when this was done; the unit smells old and it is not very inviting at all. We had windows in the bedroom that were broken and would not close, drywall falling off the wall, stains on the bathroom floors and carpeting. We had to unclog the drain in the tub/shower at least twice while we were there and unplug the toilet as well. The beds are probably the cheapest you can find and the linen is old and minimal. The kitchen was not clean at all. I spent the first night cleaning the kitchen cupboards as the insides were filthy and the same in the bathroom cupboards. The kitchen supplies were a hodgepodge of stuff that looked like most of it came from garage sales and many needed to be replaced; teflon coated frying pans that were peeling, pans with broken handles. Thankfully our daughter and her husband were staying in the Banyan as well so after night one we decided that the cooking would be done at their place. We basically used the place to sleep and shower because once you are there, really there is not much you can do but we were intent on still enjoying our vacation. We could not get the wifi to work until the second last night of our stay. We called Steve the first night we got there to voice our concerns about the condition of the property and the wifi but we did not receive a call back until 2 days later. He said he would make things right but nothing was done. We are still waiting to hear back from Steve :(

I"ve lived in Hawaii for 38 years from a big farm in Fresno, CA after attending San Jose State and a few years in Oregon. I went into the real estate business and property management business in order to have the flexibility to care for aging parents until they passed here in Waikiki. The love of my life has been my 25 year old son in Orlando, Florida. This is the most fun, rewarding and gratifying job I"ve ever had. I get to share my home and one of the most beautiful places in the world with people who have budgeted their time and resources to visit our beautiful Hawaiian paradise.

You are the backbone of our economy, respected and appreciated more than you could ever imagine. This unit is owned by salt-of-the-earth, hardworking, professional, Midwesterners with two young children. This is their second home and personal residence. The photos in the listing are the exact photos taken in the unit and we cannot afford to deceive anyone with anything less than the truth. The unit has new tile on the lanai and around the bathtub, new A/C new wall mounted, television and a new microwave.

This unit does not pretend to be something it is not. There is no granite or stainless steal in the unit (yet). We feel that it is priced to reflect the appropriate value compared to other units in the building. As consumers we all know that there is always more or less with respect to anything.
