What is fascinating about this part of Sonoma County is the constant evolution of food and wineries. Just within a few mile radius there are several renowned wineries. Graton and Sebastopol both offer a wide range of culinary and shopping opportunities.
From a recreational standpoint, there are many beautiful bike rides, some on roads, some off-road and some on dedicated bike paths. The Russian River is nearby with all the water activities it is famous for. Armstrong Grove has its 1,000 year old trees to roam around and explore. Santa Rosa, home of Charlie Brown and Snoopy, has a wonderful ice skating rink left to us by Charles Shultz himself.

I am a bilingual math teacher and father of an 13 year old boy. We live in San Francisco. I grew up in this Sebastopol house. My favorite activities include water sports, kempo karate, and skiing with my son. I spend as much time as possible in Sonoma County because I find it so beautiful and interesting.
Glenn Kenyon purchased this house in 1973
I love Sonoma County. I love the Russian River area, Sebastopol and the coast. I love riding my bike around the area and discovering new restaurants and wineries. I also love just hanging out on our property, watching the birds and relaxing under the redwood tree I planted nearly 40 years ago.
This house is in a wonderful location. It is 5 minutes from Sebastopol in one direction and 5 minutes from the Russian River in the other. Right in front of our house is Mom's Apple Pies, a restaurant and bakery founded by the mother of one of my high school classmates. And the garden that our caretaker puts in each summer is amazing.
We had a wonderful time at the Sebastopol House last week. The weather was ideal and the location was central to our interests. My son, Kenyon Lorbati and daughter, Amy Lorbati, joined us for a relaxing and fun get-together. We visited Occidental, Guerneville, Healdsberg, Bodega Bay, Armstrong State Forest, and several times, Sebastopol. Shopping and wine-tasting filled in any spare time not spent reading, writing, drawing, chatting or just resting in the hammock. The beds were comfy and we slept well with the cool nights.
We enjoyed great food in area restaurants and grilled outside for 3 of our dinners at home. I appreciated the well-equipped kitchen as we cooked meals together. The garden, chickens, sunflowers and stable added to the fun. Cecilia was friendly and helpful. Her gift of fresh eggs provided the best breakfast scramble we’d ever had. We returned the favor to the chickens as we ate lots of veggies and fruit and rewarded the hens (and rooster) with scraps. My niece and family (2 teenagers) stayed Friday and Saturday night. The boys and adults had a great time playing cards and games, and making S’mores at night.
We all fell in love with the little black kitten.
Pulling up to the property and being greeted by 2 beautiful white horses was an sign in itself this house was heaven!! My friends and I were planning a last minute wine touring trip in Somona and this house was perfect. It had everything you need to enjoy some quality time with your close friends. The owner is awesome and the house had a peaceful energy about it! The property is convenient too; even though it makes you feel like you are on a beautiful farm in the middle of no where! Hope to do this trip again soon!!
The owner is very gracious and the house is great. It's large, and can easily accommodate four couples or two families. The location is ideal - a perfect starting point for all of the wineries and area attractions. It's just the sort of home I would like to have if I could live in the area. We'll definitely be back.
Stayed here two weeks for vacation with my husband and two small children ages 2&3 years old. The kids loved the horses, goats and chickens. Feeding the horses carrots and apples became a daily activity and we received fresh eggs from the chickens which were brought to us by Cecilia. Also, the kids had a blast feeding the goats and picking strawberries from the garden. The house had plenty of space for our family and a great BBQ area. Loved the town of Sebastopol. Plenty of things to do. Thanks so much for maintaining such a great property. Would definitely stay here again.
Our family spent 10 days at this house, and it was just great. Everything worked, the place was as advertised, Mom's pies across the road is a must visit. The only negative was that the crockery wasn't really sufficient for 8 people.
I can't believe I've forgotten to review this until now! I have stayed at the house twice now and had a wonderful experience every time-- I'll be coming back for a third trip this year! Great location, easy to get to the Redwoods, ocean, or Wine Country. My girlfriends and I love to visit the animals and the addition of the hot tub was a great choice. The kitchen/dining room/living room easily accommodated the four of us plus two visitors. The rooms are a good size and comfortable (do bring your own hangers for the closets though, and earplugs if you don't want to wake up with the roosters) and the two bathrooms work well and were crucial for four women staying together! The property is lovingly maintained and always clean and well appointed. If you're staying with a family or large group I can't recommend this house highly enough!
I have stayed here once before for my daughters graduation and just like before the place was all we could ask for. There were six women and we had so much fun at night gathering around the large kitchen/dinning room table and talking till late at night. The bedrooms are all large and the girls said it was the best sleep they had had in a long time and loved waking up to the roster crowing in the morning. We were lucky to have some of the fresh egg that the hen on the property had laid and the girls who had never had a fresh egg said they were the best they had ever had. The home is so relaxing and comfortable will be back soon to stay again.
There are many small wineries in the immediate area, as well as small restaurants to try out. Across the street is Mom's Apple Pie and deli, plus a small restaurant. Russian River is nearby. Bodega Bay is within 30 minutes.
