BEACH COTTAGE WITH STUNNING VIEWS - SEA OTTER COTTAGE

This was one of our best vacations ever!

Having never been to California before, we really didn't know the ins and outs of vacationing in this area and just sort of stumbled upon the listing for the Sea Otter Cottage. We cannot believe how perfect this place was for our family. Bright, clean and cozy - it was well maintained and so comfortable that we have already booked it for next year!

The cottage is located right on the beach so you wake up to the waves crashing in on the shore over breakfast, watch the sunset as you eat dinner and spend the whole day exploring the beach, the tide pools and climbing all over the rocks. Even though there were two other cottages nearby, we hardly ever saw the other renters and felt like we had a lot of privacy. The full-sized washer and dryer was a plus, and we really appreciated the fact that, in addition to a nice selection of cookware and utensils, there were some basic supplies like salt & pepper, coffee filters, paper towels, dishwasher detergent, etc. to help us get our vacation started. We definitely recommend getting the firewood as relaxing in front of the fire was a great way to start and end each day.

The cottage is located five minutes from Point Lobos State Natural Preserve - arguably the best state preserve along the coast. It is also five minutes from a cute shopping mall that has everything from a Safeway grocery, and a great fish market to little boutique retail stores and several restaurants that span various price points for lunch and dinner. It's just a few minutes drive into Carmel, and about 30 minutes to Big Sur - a couple of hours to a whole day if you want to drive the whole PCH, hike & explore through all the Big Sur parks and grab dinner at one of the various ocean view restaurants. We saw dolphins, whales, sea otters, entire beaches of elephant seals, as well as regular seals and sea lions.

The Whislers were very accommodating and you can tell that they really care about their properties. We still get excited when we talk about our trip to Carmel and are looking forward to coming back next year!

I just wanted to thank you for allowing my family and i to rent the sea otter cottage...we had such a wonderful time together...what a cozy and comfortable atmosphere, with all the amenities needed to move in...I am not sure there is a spot any more beautiful on this planet...Thank you so much for sharing your little piece of heaven!!

My husband and I just returned from a stay at the Sea Otter with our toddler twins for an incredibly relaxing week on California's central coast. The cottage was immaculately clean and cozy with all the conveniences of home, including a luxurious bed, a washer and dryer and a very well stocked kitchen. There was even a bottle of wine waiting for us upon arrival! But the best part is the knock-out views in all directions! From the living room and kitchen the views of Point Lobos, Monastery Beach and the Pacific are absolutely breathtaking. In the mornings we jogged on the hiking path that starts behind the cottage and runs toward Carmel, in the afternoons we had picnics on the beach while the kids climbed on the rocks and dunes, and in the evenings we grilled on the back patio then enjoyed some local wine (loved Bernardus!) in front of a roaring fire in the fireplace. The Sea Otter is located in a convenient location from which to explore Monterey, Carmel, Carmel Valley, Point Lobos, and Big Sur, but truthfully we were happiest hanging around the cottage! We couldn't have been happier with our stay and look forward to returning soon!
