Unique one of a kind beach cottage, no other location like this in Carmel.
Incredible views and right on the beach. Lots of marine wildlife to be seen. Walking, tidepooling, outside the front door!
Just a quick hello to tell you that your vacation house convinced my husband that we could live in Carmel. We stayed for two weeks in January of 2013 and just loved it. We were tying to decide whether to live in Healdsburg or Carmel. I wanted Carmel. So now we are at Quail and visit the beaches next to your rentals quite a bit. I just love that cottage. In fact our friends from Arizona are staying there this month, and the best part is that we get to go there and have a BBQ while they are there. I keep telling my husband that we should have a “staycation” and rent the cottage again. We have lovely mountain and golf course views but it is not the ocean. Your place is the best. I tell anyone who wants to rent here.
This is a truly unique cottage to have a vacation. Its location is very special. We awoke to the sounds of the ocean and bay every morning. We enjoyed our coffee outside viewing the sea life. Grey Whales, otters, seals, dolphins, pelicans, gulls, and ducks frequented the bay on a continual basis. The light conditions played on the rock cliffs of Point Lobos State Reserve. Sunsets were always looked forward to sipping regional wine. The accessibility of the cottage to the town of Carmel-by-the-sea was fantastic. We would gladly stay here in the future.
Simply a remarkable property setting in one of the most beautiful spots on earth. Having visited here for over 25 years, each stay is a reminder of why we always expectantly await our next. All who have visited us here are envious.
You can't get a better view of the central coast than the one from Abalone Cottage. My husband and I stayed here for a week in August, a great get-away from the desert. The location is perfect, just a few miles from Carmel, grocery shopping, wineries and restaurants yet secluded enough for quiet and a fire on the beach under the stars. The cottage was clean and well stocked with some essentials in the kitchen, We had trouble with one bathroom and the owner was there immediately to repair. The only downside was the musty smell in the cottage that just wouldn't go away.
We were looking for an escape at the ocean, and the Abalone Cottage more than provide that. The location was extraordinary. Truly special. It was quiet and tucked away. The cottage was clean and cozy. We brought our dog with us, and she loved it! The trails along the coast allowed for beautiful, long walks. Sunsets were amazing. There isn't anything negative to be said. We will definitely return.
We have traveled extensively in the Carmel area and this was by far the best vacation we have ever experienced there. The location cannot be better, you really do not want to leave even to go to one of the many excellent restaurants nearby. The cottage is warm and cozy with extremely comfortable beds and soft and fluffy linens. Be sure and order firewood to add to the romantic atmosphere. We usually go to Point Lobos and Monterey Bay Aquarium but most of that is really right outside your door. We saw killer whales, hundreds of seals herding schools of fish right onto the beach, playful sea otters, various birds, and many grey whales. One whale entertained us for over two hours. It stayed within ten to fifteen yards off shore the whole time. It was amazing. The family was there if you needed them and our deposit was promptly returned. You could not ask for a more beautiful setting and experience. It was just heavenly.
The cottage's location is perfect! We had coffee every morning looking out on the ocean and Point Lobos!
We had everything we needed. Bed was very comfy. If you wany to feel like you're really part of Carmel, this is the cottage for you. We were more than satisfied.
