Looking for that perfect family vacation? That's The Cozy Bear!
The Cozy Bear is perfect for a relaxing family time in a peacefull mountain setting but close enough to the excitement of the Smoky Mountain Attractions.
Enjoy family time on the wrap around porch in the rocking chairs or the hot tub while viewing the Smokies from English Mountain to Mount LeConte (third highest peak in the Smoky Mountains) to Ober Gatlinburg or escape to the private deck off the master suite for relaxing in the swing.
What better way to spend quality family time than sitting around the dining table eating your favorite meal that can be prepared in the fully equiped kitchen or prepared on the BBQ Grill.
When you are taking the family out for the day, attractions including golf, shopping, shows, Dollywood, Splash Country, Dixe Stampede, Gatlinburg and especially the Great Smoky Mountain National Park is only minutes away.

Ralph and Diane Parten are the owners and "beartakers" of The Cozy Bear. We live in this neck of the woods, too. So, you can be "beary" confident that this cabin is not being managed from a distance by an absentee landlord.
Getting away from it all can be the most relaxing vacation experience. It almost makes you want to hibernate!
Ralph & Diane want you to know that they look forward to meeting you and are close by to answer your questions or assist you with the "bear" necessites.
Cozy Bear is located at the top of a hill with a steep incline and a panoramic view. The owner is so accommodating, he even stocked the cabin with new board games just for the kids and let us stay an hour extra on check out day. The price we paid to stay here for 5 days was totally worth it.
With that said, you need to know this is a 3 bedroom cabin with only 1 shower located downstairs. There is no washer and dryer and there is no coat closet. The upstairs has a wonderful view of the mountain ridge from the balcony and a heart shaped tub that is a bit dated as well as a toilet and mirror. You will find a king bed and extra bunkbeds which can also be used for small children in the upstairs suite.
This cabin is great for families with teens who don't plan to stay for an extended period of time due to no w/d and you must keep the full trash bags inside the home since there is no trash can outside. It can stink after a while but we put our trash in one of the bedroom closets downstairs during our stay.
The place could use some updating but it is still very comfortable and for the price you pay, one can't complain. The views are not the pivotal point of interest from inside the cabin but the gas fireplace is, especially in the winter. From the porch and balcony the mountain views are there, yes they are. We didn't use the porch hot tub but it was bubbling and ready. I would definitely recommend this cabin for any family on a budget who wants to bring their pets for a great time near Dollywood.
Wow! The Cozy Bear was fantastic! I am a Nana and I brought my son, future daughter-in-law and my two granddaughters, as well as our four-legged grand dog and we all thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful cabin. The view is fabulous and the area is quiet and peaceful. The manager is a dream to work with and we definitely plan to visit The Cozy Bear again.
The cabin as shown in the pics is truly beautiful, a perfect getaway for families with or without pets vacationing in the Smokies. We liked the views from the second floor which has a master bedroom and a jacuzzi, though we didn't use it. We did use the hot tub on the front porch, which was great as we skipped out on Dollywood though its actually the closest attraction. Our Nantahalla rafting and Pigeon Forge zip lining was great as well. Note that the last mile or so of getting there involves a very steep climb up the mountain. MAKE SURE you're driving up and down on low gear, and go slowly as the road is very narrow with 3 hairpin bends (switchbacks) you need to be able to negotiate even if no other vehicle is approaching. Other than that, it was simply great as all of our prior VRBO-selected properties and hosts have turned out to be fantastic.
This is a nice cabin, especially if price is one of your main concerns. The location is very nice - close to everything but still remote enough that we saw two bears, one while we were sitting on the front porch eating breakfast! The cabin had not been properly cleaned when we arrived and the A/C wasn't working but the owner came first thing the next morning and addressed the issues. Very spacious with a fully stocked, clean kitchen. Very quiet location.
A couple things to note: the view in the photos is only visible from the small upstairs deck off the master bedroom. It is beautiful but it is not the view from the main front porch, which is what I was expecting and was the main reason I chose this cabin. The view from the front porch is 3/4 obscured by trees, so you are mostly looking at the trees that are growing at the edge of the front lawn. Not a bad view, just not what I expected based on the description. Also, the cabin smells quite damp, probably due to the humidity of the Tennessee summer. Running the A/C helped some, but a dehumidifier might be helpful.
We stayed in this cabin for a week in late July 2014. The cabin is nice and the view is amazing! The road is a bit steep, but easy to drive up in a minivan. The view is great on the way up the mountain. This cabin is VERY CONVENIENT to Dollywood and Splash Country. It's a 10 minute drive to Dollywood and only 11 minutes to restaurants and the grocery store in Pigeon Forge.
There are 5 things you should know before booking:
1. There is a bunk bed in addition to the king bed in the master bedroom that is not pictured on this site. Great if you need to sleep extra people.
2. There is a hot tub on the front porch that is not pictured here.
3. This surprised us: There is NO WASHER OR DRYER in the cabin. After visiting a water park, it would have been nice, but our towels and swimsuits were able to air dry.
4. There is NO SHOWER in the master bathroom. (You have to go downstairs to take a shower.) There is a heart shaped jacuzzi tub, toilet, and sink upstairs.
5. The kitchen is completely open to the den area. This is fabulous, and it's hard to tell from the pictures on this site.
The cabin was well stocked with toilet paper, dishwasher detergent, salt/pepper, and dishwasher liquid. There were PLENTY of towels upstairs and downstairs.
There is a Wii, which is nice if you have children in your group. There are 2 TV's--one upstairs and one downstairs. Neither are flat panel, but both have plenty of channels. The keyless entry was fabulous.
Overall we enjoyed our stay here. The only thing I would change is to take out the heart shaped tub in the master and add a shower upstairs. Also, adding a washer/dryer would be great.
We just got back from a four-day stay at the Cozy Bear, and we had a wonderful time! The cabin is lovely, very clean, spacious and comfortable, with both a large porch on the first floor and a great second floor balcony, complete with rockers and a porch swing. The view from that second floor balcony is jaw-droppingly beautiful. (The pictures here do not do it justice). From that balcony you have a panoramic view of the mountains, and because you're so high up and the greenery below is so lush, you feel cut off from the rest of the busy town below. We felt really isolated, which was great, though we were just a few minutes from the hustle and bustle of Pigeon Forge. I'd recommend the cabin for that balcony view alone, but the rest of the house is terrific, too! The owners are also very nice and focused on making sure their guests are comfortable. We'll be back again soon!
You will love the Helicopter Rides over the Great Smoky Mountains or a drive through the park to see the wildlife. For your nights or afternoons the shows here in Pigeon Forge are Great.... top quality performers and musicians it is sure to be a great time for the whole family. You are only a few miles from Dollywood here at The Cozy Bear, you can hear the Dollywood train horn blow from your front porch.
If your a golfer the Gatlinburg Golf Course is 3 miles down the road.
