About Rebecca Williams
We built this house for our own family, and we love it. We share a large, extended family home next door which is why we sometimes rent this one.

Why Rebecca Williams chose Southwest Harbor
Situated as it is between a quiet cove and Acadia National Park, this house makes you feel like you are 'away from it all.' And yet, it is a quick drive to the grocery store, the town of Southwest Harbor, pristine freshwater lakes, miles of bike trails and all that Mount Desert Island has to offer. Summer weather is ideal, the town is welcoming and lively, the local activities are many. This is a great spot for people who love an active outdoor vacation, on or off the water, or are just looking for a relaxing vacation surrounded by nature.
What makes this house unique
Sitting out on the deck looking at the view and watching the sailboats and the tides. Immediate access to Acadia National Park is a wonderful thing: out the back door, and the place is yours at any hour, and best of all, at off-hours. We enjoy biking to town and kayaking from Fernald Cove across to Northeast Harbor or up Somes Sound. Our favorite activity is swimming in nearby Echo Lake or Long Pond.
Guestbook comments from the owner
My wife and I have rented this magnificent house for three weeks at the beginning of each summer since it was built. Situated on its own isolated wooded piece of rocky coast in a gentle cove (perfect for launching kayaks), it’s literally across the street from an entrance to trails into Acadia National Park. The location ideally fits our vacation aim of escaping the hubbub of life in Virginia, but with the opportunity, if we wish, to quickly venture into one of the most charming villages on the New England coast—with excellent restaurants, good food stores, and a dock that serves the best lobsters and steamed clams in Maine. The house itself has everything—indeed, more—than we need, even with visiting friends: three plush bedrooms with king beds and more bunks in the full basement; a modern full kitchen; a huge fireplace in the cathedral-ceilinged living room; even a sauna. All winter long we dream of summer days lazing on chaise lounges on the back patio with a glass of wine, watching boats sail in Somes Sound.
