Elegant Home on a Safe, Quiet Street

I stayed here for two months, and every friend who visited made a comment regarding the beauty of this house. The owner has added some nice table lamps and wall art, which were not there when these VRBO photos were taken. Therefore, the decor is actually more charming in person than what is visible online. It is easy to keep this house immaculately clean because it has wood floors throughout, leather furniture in the living room, and roman shades on the windows. I was happy to not deal with carpets, fabric upholstery, or thick curtains -- any of which can get dusty or grimy.
Most importantly to me, I felt safer here than anyplace else I have stayed in New Orleans. As a woman traveling alone, I greatly appreciated the neighborhood's private security service (which is included with the rent). The house is tucked into a quiet street which is populated mostly by long-time Garden District homeowners who are very friendly and keep their eyes open for one another. Another benefit of this quiet street is that every time I came home, there was plenty of parking right by the front door of this house. It was nice to not have to deal with the congestion or noise involved with living on Magazine Street or St. Charles Avenue. Instead, I walked five minutes (or less) to both of those streets for sightseeing or shopping or dining. Then came home to the serenity of this house. :)
