House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Sea Mist, a beautiful 'Old Florida' home sits right on the beach in the 5700 block of Estero Blvd, featuring Florida red cypress interior, Florida pine floors and bay windows facing the Gulf. This home was renovated in 2010 and has a kitchen with granite countertops, new flat screen television and free wi-fi. Master bedroom has private bath, king sized bed and bay window. Guest room 1 has two twin beds, private bath with tub. Guest room 2 is located off the kitchen, has a double bed and private bath. A sleeper sofa with queen mattress is in the living room. Please look at our pictures for further details. An on-the-beach professional manager handles your booking and stay.

Enjoy long walks on the white sand beach, relax on the patio or screened porch and watch the sunset, grill your supper or eat out, then let the sound of the surf lull you to sleep at night: all you have to do is crack open a window in the master bedroom and you WILL hear the surf on even the quietest nights.

This beachfront house is in a very desirable neighborhood of single-family homes, 1/2 mile south of Publix Supermarket, 1/2 mile north of Santini Plaza. Each bedroom has its own bath for maximum privacy. Full-sized washer and dryer are located off the kitchen.

About The Owner

This picture is of my wife and me in January 2011, on the beach. We live in Dayton, Ohio. My parents bought this house in 1969 while I was away at college. I had been to the beach before, but saw the house for the first time at Christmas 1969. It has been my favorite place ever since then.

Why The Owner chose Fort Myers Beach

My family drove through Fort Myers Beach in a truck camper in 1966, stopped for lunch and fell in love with the place. Just like that, Mom, Dad, me, my brother and sister were all looking forward to our next vacation on this beach. For the next couple of years we rented a space to park the camper on spring break, then bought this house. It wasn't meant as a rental, but my parents stopped wintering there in 2009, so we updated the house to make it an attractive place to share. The house has now passed down to my wife and I; we both love it and plan to keep it for our children, who are the third generation of our family to enjoy this comfortable old house on one of the most beautiful beaches we know.

I hope you will like it as much as we do.

What makes this house unique

I step back in time when I go here. The house was built in 1946 and it has original hardwood floors, Florida red cypress walls and a metal roof. Usually a breeze blows through the house, making the central air conditioner unnecessary from fall to spring. There's not much plastic here, no Xbox, no hot tub, no pool; just Florida as it was meant to be.

Details: Yes, we have cable and Wi-fi; the kitchen is modern; a washer and dryer are included; I employ professional managers to take care of your needs while you are visiting. This is a nice place.

The Publix supermarket is 1/2 mile away; restaurants and other shopping are close by. Three shopping malls, including one outlet mall, are within 30 minutes away on the mainland.

In short, I have tried to make this home a comfortable place where you will relax and feel part of traditional Florida, without missing the essential amenities. Other houses may have swimming pools, giant marble bathrooms, tiki bars, etc. Those places cost a lot more if they have a location like ours, but they are no more fun to stay in!

Our stay was absolutely incredible. My husband and I have rented homes in many locations, including the Cayman Islands and The Turks.....but this wonderful home in Ft. Myers was the BEST....It is hard to describe how beautiful everything was. The view from the dining area was beyond words and the sunsets were better than any in the caribbean. We were lucky to get to spend three weeks there and we would have stayed longer except it was already rented. The house is even better than the photos. We can't wait to return. By the way, if you ever want to sell your house, please call us...LOL
Owner's Response: Thanks! Since your visit we've upgraded the patio furniture, added Adirondack chairs to the back yard and replaced the bedding in the guest room. I hope you consider us for your next vacation.

Charming vacation house!

We absolutely fell in love with this house! The pictures do not do it justice. The master bedroom looks out to the ocean - what a way to wake up in the morning. The ocean is literally at your back door. The only reason we left the house all week long was to go to Publix for food. We even saw dolphins swimming one day.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
Owner's Response: Wow, thank you! Rebecca and I want people to enjoy their stay. Since your visit we've upgraded some bedding, added plantings and Adirondack chairs outside, refinished the dining room walls and added an iPod dock/stereo to the living room.

Please keep us in mind for next year.
