Karl and Gail Magnuson have owned and operated The Loft for over 5 years. Gail, a native of Decorah, also owns Agora Arts, an American Craft gallery located right next door. Karl runs Magnuson Consulting and is a QuickBooks advisor.

Wonderful accomodation in downtown Decorah!

We stayed with another couple at The Loft and found it wonderful in every way. It was luxury to have our own apartment, with a great kitchen and living space in addition to sleeping accomodations, in the heart of downtown! We walked to every meal, sampling the wonderful restaurants in the downtown area: Albert's at the hotel next door, The Rubaiyat, and others. It was great having a garage for the vehicles. Stan, our "landlord," was wonderful to work with. We would definitely stay at The Loft again, and would recommend it highly to friends and family.

Great weekend at The Loft on Water Street!

The Loft was a perfect place for us to stay during a Luther reunion weekend. It was clean, large, and included everything we needed (and more).
The best part is the location; it is right downtown Decorah within walking distance from every place we wanted to visit.
The only downside that we found was that we only had one key and that was tricky balancing the four of us staying there when we had different places to go during our stay. An extra key or garage door opener would be a good idea for future!
We will definitely stay there again!

Weekend Get-Away

My husband and I went to Decorah for our 29th wedding anniversary, and stayed at the Loft. It was very clean and roomy. It was larger than we anticipated. It also has it's own garage, which is very nice, especially in the winter. This would be a great place for a group, or a girl's getaway. The only negative with a larger group would be that there is only one bathroom, which the owner said they plan to change. Since there were just two of us, that wasn't an issue. They also plan to upgrade their TV's which will also be nice. We would definitely stay there again.

Fantastic location! Clean, homey, wonderful!

We had a wonderful stay in Decorah - if you want to be downtown, have your own private apartment and be right next to Mabe's, this place is perfect and includes a double-car garage! We had a fabulous girls' weekend and even had some welcome gifts there already when we arrived. Beds were comfortable, everything was well-decorated and CLEAN. Loved it! Thank you!
