House, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6-8)

This is a beautiful, especially quiet, private, 3 bedroom high-ceilinged, traditional stone house (can accommodate 7 people). Located in picturesque Ein-Karem. The house is located just 10 minutes to Israel Museum, 15 minutes to Jerusalem center.

This wonderful, well lit and cozy home with beautiful view, is surrounded by a private established garden. There is a spacious living room where the whole family can dine and enjoy being together, and the 3 separate bedrooms allows privacy to everyone. This is a tastefully arrayed and fully equipped apartment with all amenities provided, including washing machine and dryer, Internet, cable TV, air-conditioning, and fireplace all at your disposal. The kitchen also is fully equipped and has everything that is needed for cooking, and much more. Towels and linen are provided, parking is possible next to house. The apartment had 753 square meter / 80 square meter wide.

Historical sites, beautiful nature walks and excellent restaurants and cafes are as well as close by. There is a bus station, grocery and green-grocer's within 5 minutes of walking distance.

About The Owner

I am Gilla Lahav-Snir, a doctor of philosophy and Jewish thought. I love hosting people, and in love with the village EIn-Karem, where my house is located, which is so near to Jerusalem, and yet has its distinct traditional character.

Why The Owner chose Jerusalem area

It is a unique location on the boarder of Jerusalem city and the mountains that surround it. The village is very ancient and is important to all religions, especially for Christians, while according to tradition Maria met there St. Johns' mother while they were both pregnant.

What makes this house unique

my property allows a family vacation of the first class. The family can be together in the spacious living-room, and prepare its own food in the perfectly equipped kitchen, while every member of the family can have his privacy in one of the three bedrooms. The view is one of the most beautiful in Jerusalem, and it is so nice to sit in the garden, to pick up some herbs, make a cup of tea in this most tranquil place. But just in few minutes walk there are art galleries , excellent restaurants, and beautiful walking paths in the country side, where famous historical sites are, like a Byzantine church from the 4th century.

Ideal base for visiting Jerusalem

Good things about this place:
- very easy to get to the old city. Drive 5 mins to the start of the tram line, then a scenic 20 mins to the old city. But when you're done with that, retreating to Ein Kerem is ideal.
- the right side of town for the Israel museum and even closer to Yad Vashem (Holocaust memorial and museum)
- very nice garden
- the owner is very friendly and helpful. She provided some bits of food to start us off, which was well appreciated.
- there is great stuff to see in Ein Kerem itself
- it's easy to drive there from the airport. Has its own parking space.
- kitchen very nice and well-equipped
- all very clean

Bad things about this place:
- can't think of anything.

Retreat in jerusalem

Coming from a hectic life, my wife and I were looking to stay in Jerusalem without having to deal with the hustle bustle noisy nature of the city. We found this most lovely area in Ein Kerem, a tourist area on Shabbot for Israelis and non Israelis alike, but peaceful,quiet, beautiful and all yours on all other days. The cottage was charming, comfortable, quiet, well equipped, and had a private garden area with magnificent views where we ate many meals. Gilla was helpful and accommodating in every one of our needs and was an extremely interesting,knowledgable and sweet person to talk with. She supplied the kitchen with so much more food than expected and everything was delicious. We have every intention of staying there again, hopefully for at least a month next time. We look forward to seeing Gilla again.

Six Nights in Ein-Karem

Our family spent six nights at this lovely house in Ein-Karem. Our hostess, Gilla, is truly a treasure. After a long day of traveling (we were delayed over 9 hours), Gilla met us at her house and had a full refrigerator for us. It was so gracious of her to do this and it also meant that we were able to keep to our sightseeing schedule since we did not have to go grocery shopping the next morning. We made a quick breakfast and were on our way.
The house was quite comfortable for our family of six (2 adults and 4 children under the age of 9). I would recommend renting a car if you stay here. It is an easy drive to the Old City and other attractions in Jerusalem. One day we drove to the car park and took the Metro Light in to Jerusalem, which is also quite easy.
Ein-Karem is a lovely little town. We walked to dinner every night, and then to the ice cream shop. The children loved it. Gilla was also able to answer many of our sightseeing questions, which was very helpful. Israel was a dream trip for us- thank you so much for making it a wonderful visit.

PARADISE IN JERUSALEM!

We stayed in this house for a week in early September 2012 and loved it so much that we changed our plans and stayed again a few weeks later. A gorgeous historic house with all the modern features you could want. We were a family of two adults and four children aged from 10 to 19 and had plenty of room and felt completely at home. The center of Jerusalem is only ten minutes by car or the monorail yet it is so peaceful and quiet. The village of En Kerem is a five minute walk and is so lovely. Great restaurants , cafes and galleries. The owner met us at the house and had stocked the kitchen with fresh bread, fruit, muesli, milk, cheeses, yoghurts and more. The house was beautifully presented. Thank you Gilla for making such an effort to make sure we had all we needed and more. We highly recommend this house to anyone looking for that home away from home feeling. Once again, thank you Gilla. We (2 adults and 2 young kids) stayed in this beautiful property for a long weekend. I had a good feeling about it when first reviewing the photos in VRBO and I was happy to see that it was exactly what I hoped for and even more.
We had a wonderful time in this charming Ein-Karen/Jerusalem house. It is made of stone that kept it pretty cool, high ceiling, and very nicely designed. We love the beautifully designed bedroom and our 6 year old son loved the loft!
- The house had everything we needed and it was clear that every little detail was well thought and planned.
- The property is very clean and very well- maintained.
- The garden is very sweet: flowers, herbs, and little dining table so you could eat outside.
- The kitchen is very well equipped and we could find there everything we needed including cereal, granola and yogurt and basic cooking ingredients.
- Ideal distance from the city center: It was great to be less than 15km from the city but stay in peaceful and picturesque Ein-Karem.
- Dining: great dining options walking distance.
- Gilla, The owner was extremely nice and very helpful. The communication with her felt very personal and it felt like she really cared about us enjoying her house.
In sum, I would highly recommend staying in this property*.

* Our 3-year old daughter loved it so much that whenever we left the house to explore the city she'd ask when are we going back to Jeruslam (referring to the house) and whenever we drove back she wanted to make sure we our going to our "Jerusalem- home" and not our "home-home".... :-)
