SERENE, PRIVATE-BEACH HOUSE-EXPLORE, HIKE, BIRD, KAYAK, RELAX

Camano Island House Rental Photos and Description

House, 1 Bedroom + Loft, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6-9)

Beautifully located private-beach house with front & back decks ( newly expanded back deck, and front enclosed with built in seating) overlooking Pt. Susan Bay & Triangle Cove awaits your arrival for a fully relaxing get-away. Sip coffee or cocktails viewing the southern unobstructed vistas of Mt. Rainier across the bay lively with bird calls and quiet bird hunting poses, with seasonal salmon splashes as they follow the current to our backside estuary. We are the 3rd home from the end of a dead end private road, and therefore enjoy a peaceful & serene atmosphere where sometimes the herons and eagles calling are the only noises heard. We are a great base for the mid-winter Snow Goose & Glass Quest festivals, and early spring Tulip Festival in the Skagit Valley. Our house, newly painted inside & furnished with new privacy blinds throughout, features an open floor design with family comfort and fun in mind. We have family videos for VCR in loft, and DVD for TV in living room. NEW-cable TV! Best LP collection & great stereo for your listening enjoyment. No internet. Kitchen is fully equipped with dish/glass/cookware and all cutlery & essential accessories. Queen bed has new memory pillowtop mattress pad and allergy free down comforter. Sofa unfolds into queen bed. Loft sleeping area has double bunk bed also with memory foam mattress pad on extra-deep futon mattress; trundle bed (2 singles) and 1/2 bath. The local golf course is 5 minutes away with a fun 18 holes and driving range; the new zip-liner course through the woods is directly across from the golf range. Hike through two state parks; Cama Beach offers the Wooden Boat Center to explore & summer concerts. Many local artists open their studios (May Art Tour) and galleries galore! Our beach can be walked at low tide with crab found in season! (Thrills the kids). Kayakers and paddle boarders love our bay and the gentle current at the point leading into the estuary. Launch your boat at nearby Cavallero Park & use our buoy. Easy walking, biking, skating on our beach & local roads. We know you'll be thrilled with your stay at our home.

Fully furnished/equipped south facing beach house (Pt. Susan & Mt. Rainier); backside estuary. Bedroom, sofa bed, sleeping loft with beds for 5 more; 1.5 baths. No ferry to the best ever get-away island experience. Two night minimum bookings only.

We are semi-retirees with our primary residence on the other side of the island. Since our adult children live in different cities we decided to open the opportunity for other families to experience and enjoy this unique locale.

We loved being able to leave Seattle & in about an hour without the lines or costs of a ferry, be in a beachfront community: small enough to get acquainted with other lifelong resident owners many who have other family owners on our beach. The easy interactions yet respect for privacy make ours a wonderful community. It's a relatively small community since the buildable lots have been limited by septic system requirements, and the length of our peninsula.

Our 'backyard' is all water! The deck overhangs the back estuary/cove and there is nothing better than sitting in the rocker & listening to so many birds calling out; watching the eagle parents teach their young to hunt; the flocks soaring and swooping as they dance across the horizon. Our neighbors are not year around residents so it is very private both front & back decks. When the sun shines (& it does that a lot on our island despite what other weather is nearby), it is time to flop on the chaise lounges & read without interruption! We love boating & crabbing & if you're there during season & want to join us baiting/pulling pots, we'll work to make that happen, demonstrating cleaning & cooking & sharing the bounty of the sea!!

PERFECT SIMPLICITY

  • 5 of 5
This house definitely served its purpose! The natural lighting was gorgeous and provided a place for my bridal party to get ready for the big day. It was quiet and the views of the beach were serene. I would definitely go back. Excellent little hideaway!

FANTASTIC COTTAGE ON CAMANO ISLAND!

  • 5 of 5
This cottage is comfortable, clean, very usable. The setting is unbeatable - water and birds both front and back. We counted 25 herons on the beach one morning, and 4 Bald Eagles. Comfortable chairs both inside and on the two decks are suitable for meals and just relaxing. A wonderful find!

LIKE BEING IN A BOAT...DRAMATIC AND BEAUTIFUL...

  • 5 of 5
We truly enjoyed our time at the Camano island/Triangle Cove house. The house is filled with light and water is all around, out nearly every window. It felt fresh and vital, with lovely breezes coming through the house with the windows open to our warm summer days. A truly beautiful spot.

The dramatic ebb and flow of the tides was amazing to experience so closely - and we had the full moon extremes. Sea birds and seals were plentiful, as well as eagles. We kayaked right out the back door when the water was in far enough - we learned to time our trips with the tides. Full moon paddles were stunning, with mountain backdrops, vivid sunsets, and sea critters saying hello. We also swam a few times, on the beach in front or from Iverson Reserve a couple miles paddle to the northeast.

Being at the end of the spit felt private, although the house being for sale made for more than usual turn-around traffic as folks came to look. The spit itself is driftwood 'heaven' - fun to look at all the sizes and shapes of logs.

The house is comfy and ready for cooking and hanging out. Kathy and Joe have put a lot of effort and love into the place to ensure you have an easy, stress-free time. Beach towels, spices, ice cubes...music, DVD's, comfy deck furniture. It's clean and well-maintained.

We were two couples, and found the arrangement of rooms worked fine. If I were to change anything it would be to have the second larger bed in the loft be separate, not as a lower bunk. It's a great set-up for kids, and my husband and I were fine in twin beds for the week, but a tweak of that might make it even more wonderful.

We explored the island some, going to the State Parks, other boat put-ins, library, thrift shop, grocery... didn't need anything more. Camano is not a tourist island and you won't find much in the way of kitchy shops or even places to go out to eat. This is a place where you settle in and bask in the sea. We did drive up to LaConner for a day (30 minutes) - and loved it for it's many shops and cafes and galleries. The history museum is wonderful and tells the story well of the hardy folks who settled the area, and of the rich life of the Native Americans who treasured it first.

We also loved having our dog with us - older, well behaved and just loves water and driftwood sticks... she was ever so content!

We thank Kathy and Joe for sharing this sweet spot on the planet. A week later, we are still so relaxed! We hope to be able to return.
