This is a fantastic year round getaway location for the family. We are located in the Adirondack State Park at the base of Royal Mountain ski area, 3 miles down the road from East and West Caroga Lake. With 5 lakes, a golf course, and tons of hiking trails within 5 miles of the house just imagine what the other 6 million acres of the adirondack park offers you. The cottage on this property sleeps two adults in a queen bed room, two more adults in a fold out bed, and up to 3 children in a bunk room. The cottage on this property is very warm and homey and includes a fantastic Jukebox and Movie theater style popcorn machine. The back yard is a wide open space with a large private pond in the back corner stocked with fish for the kids. There is a fair amount of land and parking on this property making it perfect for family picnics. Feel free to ask about some of the area restaurants for take-out, delivery, and catering options.
WINTER ACTIVITIES:
-Skiing at Royal Mountain - The mountain is very reasonably priced ($35 lift ticket / $50 ticket, lessons & rentals, kids 5 and under are free). The lifts are accessed through a trail out the back of the property.
-Snow Cat Rides – only special VIP guests of the mountain are invited to join Corduroy Joe (Chief Mountain Engineer) on an after hours groomer ride up the mountain.
-Snowmobile Riding – Access all of the Adirondack snowmobile trails through the back yard.
-Ice Fishing – visit dozens of nearby lakes
Snowshoeing and Cross Country Skiing – Explore the picturesque trails and enjoy the landscape.
Ice climbing – Head about 15 min north into the park and dig in to some of the huge road side ice drifts for a morning climb.
SUMMER ACTIVITIES:
-Golfing - Nick Stoner Golf Course is just 5 min down the road.
-Fishing – Visit dozens of nearby lakes and streams. You can even head out to the back yard with the kids and fish in our pond or one of the larger ponds at the base of the mountain.
-Motocross - Royal Mountain is one of the few stops on the regional motor-cross and supper-cross circuit hosting races on Wednesday nights during the summer and larger events on several weekends.
-Boating – With several lakes and streams within 5 min of the house and tons more within 30 min there is no shortage of places to boat. If you do not have a boat you can make arrangements to rent our pontoon boat.
Water Skiing – East Caroga Lake is a great lake to find that early morning glass for a slalom or barefoot run. The lake is generally great for recreational skiing all day. Regardless if you are a beginner or expert you can make arrangements with the owners to have a competition ski boat at the lake to take you out skiing, tubing, wake boarding, air chair, knee board, etc. If you are interested in lessons be sure to ask.
Hiking – Being inside the Adirondack Park there are limitless opportunities for day and multi day hikes just minutes from the house.
YEAR ROUND ACTIVITIES:
-Roller Skating – put on your fanciest 80’s clothes and show your moves at roller rink about 30 min away.
-Horse Riding lessons – spend some time at a beautiful new indoor riding facility about 30 min away.
-Hunting – There is game for every season
-Movies – if the weather is not cooperating you can head to town and take in a movie at one of the theaters located about 30 min away.
-Wildlife museum and Animal Land are a couple more attractions within 30 min of the house.
