Two blocks to gorgeous West Cliff Drive, close to the beach and surfing. In one direction is a one mile walk to Famous Steamer Lane surf spot and the beloved Santa Cruz Lighthouse and Surfing Museum. A little farther down the road is the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Main Beach and Municipal Wharf (see our map on this page). Go the other direction to Natural Bridges State Park and Beach. Minutes to wineries, bakeries, downtown restaurants, movie theaters, bookstores, shopping and much more. Many good restaurants and Farmer's Markets right in the neighborhood!
We are also minutes from UCSC and very popular with visitors who are associated with students and faculty of our lovely City on the Hill, University of California at Santa Cruz!

Bedroom comfort includes a deluxe queen size bed, writing desk and chair. Stacked washer/dryer in the closet. New full size futon couch opens flat can sleep two. This guest apartment is perfectly suited for either the single traveler, for two-four adults, for two adults and two children.

I have lived all over Santa Cruz County since the mid 70s and there is no better place to be than on the Westside! I have worked in the local medical community and enjoy the healthy outdoor activities that our lovely town has to offer. My son, who was raised here, loves to come home and go surfing, spend some time refueling at the El Palomar Taco Bar, and take in a movie or enjoy local music or live theater. There is no end to the combination of perfect days you can create with all Santa Cruz has to offer you!

West Cliff Hideaway is in the best location in town. Just off West Cliff Drive yet tucked in a detached unit behind the main house, protected and quiet. If you wish for privacy but want the convenience of being in the middle of where it is all happening, this spot is for you. You don't have to venture far from the neighborhood to sample a wide variety of what Santa Cruz has to offer. Plus, the Westside get the best weather in town right here!
Bike to the Westside Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings. Go for a walk along West Cliff Drive, maybe walk or bike to the wharf for breakfast or lunch, or to Kelly's Bakery! Watch the surfers at 'The Lane' near the Lighthouse on the way home. Go to the beach! (it is a 5 minute walk from here!). See an exhibit at the Seymour Marine Discovery Center! Go check out the Arboretum at UCSC! Ride your bike to Wilder Ranch! Take in the world renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium only 45 min drive from here! Do some winetasting while shopping for fresh local produce. Retreat to your quiet, private spot for some much needed rest. Enjoy reading while sipping locally crafted wine in the private patio and either have dinner in (BBQ on patio or tasty local take-out) or enjoy any one of almost too many restaurants to list in town just minutes from here. Live theater year round at UCSC and in theaters around the town. Live music all the time! So many movie theaters and bookstores. And sometimes it is just perfect to relax and do what we never let ourselves do...NOTHING!
While visiting my daughter and her family in early December, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at West Cliff Hideaway! I was within walking distance of my daughter's house, but was able to have my own "space". And what a space it was! The apartment was attractive and well furnished, the bedding was comfortable and there was a cozy sitting area. The kitchen was well-equipted and the washer and dryer were conveniently located. West Cliff Hideaway is in a lovely setting and feels quite private, yet is close to beautiful West Cliff Drive and not far from the downtown area with shops and restaurants. One of my favorite ways to start the day (or end the day) was a walk along West Cliff Drive where the scenery is truly spectacular!
Robin and Bill were great...so friendly, helpful and accommodating! I look forward to returning to West Cliff Hideaway!
A great place. Grandparents love the close proximity to West Cliffs Walkway for early morning walks for us. And for the grandkids, it is easy to walk to the nearby park...and so much fun to get there by going through the "Barkway."
Having a washer and dryer is just the best!!
Stayed with my girlfriend for a little bit of down time while visiting family in central California. The Hideaway is just as it is pictured, but even more comfortable than it looks. The kitchen is bright and cheery. My girlfriend was delighted with the colorful washcloths and various bath gels in the bathroom and the lovely linens on the bed. The El Palomar restaurant in town is fabulous...some of the best Mexican food we have had in a long time. The owner (Robin) was very available for any requests or needs we might have had. We spent as much time as we could by the ocean, walking along West Cliff Drive or on the beach. We hope to return some day. =) Note: There is a set of stairs up to the front door and I would recommend for 2 people as opposed to 4.
Heading back to Santa Cruz with my wife and 1-year-old for Christmas I knew we had to find an ideal place that was not only centrally located, but comfortable, clean and quiet. Simply put Robin's place was perfect. Located two blocks from West Cliff we could walk and run in the morning and retreat back to a quiet street away from the crowds. The place was clean, well stocked and the kitchen had everything we needed including a blender. If you stay, you'll be 4 minutes from New Leaf grocery, several local breweries and pubs, two of Santa Cruz's best bakeries -- Kelly's and Emily's -- and Mission St. which provides quick access out of the West Side. Robin was quick to respond, extremely welcoming and the perfect host. Essentially I can't find anything bad to say about this place outside of I wish I could just live there year-around.
On a liesurely drive down the coast hwy from San Francisco to Los Angeles, my wife and I booked a three-night stay in Santa Cruz at West Cliff Hideaway. The cute apartment above Robin's garage was perfect. It is quiet and roomy. We had everything we needed. The location is great and we took day trips to Big Basin Redwood Park, Monterey and Carmel, among others. Robin makes sure you're informed so you can live like a local. Santa Cruz is a lovely community and we loved it. The famous boardwalk was closed for the winter, so we'll have to plan another visit to enjoy it. We'll stay at West Cliff Hideaway again when the time comes. Thank you Robin and Bill.
We were in Santa Cruz visiting family, and enjoyed Robins neat and comfortable apartment. She was most helpful, and we had everything we needed. The area is beautiful, and great for long walks. Recommend this property highly.
With advance notice we can arrange for a massage therapist we use frequently to come to the rental so you don't have to leave to get a great massage! There are yoga studios, pilates studios, jazzercise classes, winetasting, farmer's markets, paddleboarding, surfing, bike trails, hiking, sailing, 40 minutes from San Jose Airport, only 45 minutes to Monterey Bay Aquarium!
