Linville House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

Our home is located inside the Grandfather Golf and Country Club resort which boasts the second highest ranked golf course in North Carolina. Only world famous Pinehurst #2 is ranked higher. Our home's warm interior provides a casual but upscale space to relax. Upon entering, you will find large widows and sliding glass doors giving a 180 degree northwesterly view offering beautiful evening sunsets. Relax on the deck with a loved one and a beverage of your choice and watch the sun disappear behind the mountains. Sitting high off ground, the home has an open, yet very private feel.

The main floor features: A private master suite with a king size bed, cedar walls and a full bath. A second bedroom with a king size bed and its own full bath with a double vanity. An open fully-loaded kitchen. An elegant dining room with mountain, woodland view. A spacious living room with large leather couches around an enormous two-story stone fireplace with a 55” HD TV over the mantle.

Left of the fire place is a beautiful iron spiral staircase which accesses upstairs bedrooms and a balcony. The balcony has a quaint, comfy reading chair, office area and TV. We provide wired high speed internet in the office and a router for wireless hookup anywhere in the house. The two bedrooms, each with two twin beds, share a large, full bath with a double sink vanity.

During the six month season from May until October when the Grandfather Golf and County Club is open, renters can enjoy all the amenities of the resort upon payment of daily usage fees. Amenities include the Championship Golf Course (par 72), the Mountain Springs Course (par 58), a fine dining restaurant, a bar with a covered deck overlooking Lake Dornie, a beach club with games and activities for children, boat rentals for trout and bass fishing in lake Dornie, an indoor and outdoor tennis complex, a workout facility and a sports complex. For more information about the resort community.

For the winter season, our mountain getaway is perfectly located to enjoy the best of the North Carolina's ski slopes. We are a ten minute drive to Sugar Mountain Ski Resort, twenty minutes from Beech Mountain Ski Resort and twenty minutes from snow tubing and the zip line at Hawksnest Resort. There are many places to cross country ski or just take a leisurely walk in the midst of the gorgeous scenery inside Grandfather Golf and Country Club.

You can hike right out of your back door to a trail that leads to McRea Meadows, home of the famous Highland games. If you are feeling adventurous, you can hike the Profile Trail and climb the majestic peaks of Grandfather Mountain. Of course, it's much easier to drive to the Mile High Swinging Bridge at the top of Grandfather Mountain which has many of the same views. If you are a backpacker or just want to hike for a day, the Appalachian Trail passes about ten miles away.

If you have children, you will want to visit Mystery Hill, the Gem Mine or the popular Tweetsie Railroad for memorable family fun. Enjoy good food from a vast array of nearby restaurants. Don’t forget to stop in the Mast General Store on the way home to satisfy a sweet tooth craving. There are too many amazing places in close proximity to list!

With unparalleled quality and comfort, this is the perfect place for family fun or some peaceful and very private relaxation. The home will warm your soul in any season and make your vacation a wonderful and memorable experience.

About Georgia Hayes

Roger and I are both from North Carolina. He was a Duke University football player and I was a UNC Chapel Hill Homecoming Queen You can imagine the rivalry in our household during March Madness! We have been married 44 years. Since we both grew up close to Charlotte (Monroe and Gastonia), we decided to raise our family there. The mountains have always been our retreat. For Roger, being an avid golfer and outdoor enthusiast, this was a perfect place. Needless to say, it was “love at first sight” when we discovered this lovely mountain home. We knew immediately that we had to have it. At that time, Roger worked for Bank of America and I owned a software business. We have both since retired and have spent many summers here in bliss. We have wonderful memories at Grandfather Golf and Country Club and know you will enjoy it as much as our family and friends have! -Georgia “Peach” & Roger

If you love golf and the mountains then this is the place to stay. The course is manicured, the staff greats you by name, and the dining room was great.

Great mountain getaway!

  • 5 of 5
This is a wonderfully comfortable home.....it is well represented in its listing. We found the house to have everything we needed for a two week vacation away from the Texas heat.
The kitchen was well stocked and the owner had left detailed instructions for operating the TV and Cable, the fireplace, the grill, what to do with garbage, etc. The location is absolutely beautiful and the neighbors were friendly. i would recommend this house strongly to my friends and family!! The owners are very responsive and a pleasure to work with.

Comfortable stay in the mountains!

  • 4 of 5
Our group was in the area to attend a wedding and rented the house for four nights. We found the house to be very comfortable, clean, and quiet. There is total privacy, as the house is surrounded by woods. The house is well-maintained, is well-stocked with linens, towels, paper products, etc., and the owner is very nice and responsive to requests. The best features of the house are the large living area with cozy seating and the expansive deck. The bedroom areas are separate, making it ideal for several couples sharing the house. The dining room with its antique furniture and coral walls was a pleasant spot for group meals.

The Grandfather Country Club is beautiful and the main golf course was outstanding! The staff is very friendly. It is a safe place to stay because of the required gate pass. It is very close to Linville Ridge and the entrance to Grandfather Mountain. We recommend this house for groups looking for a great location and privacy.

Very comfortable home, Excellent owners to deal with.

  • 5 of 5
We loved the house and the area. It was nestled in the woods on a hillside and unlike some houses in the neighborhood you could not hear the road. The sofas, beds and kitchen all comfortable and immaculate.
The owners were a dream to work with.
We highly recommend this house!

Wedding Week

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I visited the Grandfather area for a wedding of a friends daughter. We had our three adult children with us. We have stayed in the area on many occasions, in both Boone and Blowing Rock but on this trip we wanted to be near the other families attending the festivities at the Esseola Lodge.
In the past, we have looked to a very secluded home to rent and shied away from homes within golf communities. But, now I know we shouldn't have. The community is beautiful and had we been a little more prepared we would have made arrangements to use the facilities. They have a beautiful golf course, tennis courts and lake. The lake has a very nice beach and every day we were there, people were using the canoes and paddle boards as well as swimming and laying out in the sun.
The home was very nice, the bedrooms and bathrooms were exactly what you would expect. The family room had a very nice fireplace that we never used. We did spend quite a bit of time on the porch and it was large and had a great view. Two nights we grilled out and the grill was perfect.
We have probably rented 20 homes in NC over the last 30 years and I would say that number one on the list of making an experience go well is how well you get a long with the owners. These folks were great. From start to finish it could not have been better.
If we fine our way back up in this area we would most definitely rent this home again.

Perfect House for Two families

  • 5 of 5
We (my wife, two girls and I) were going skiing with another couple and their two girls. We were looking for 4-5 BRs with two kings in either Grandfather, Linville Ridge, Linville or Hound Ears (skiing at Sugar Mountain). Also didn't want to spend an arm and a leg on the house and be worried about the little angels messing up a super well appointed home -- but didn't want to be roughing it either. This house fit the bill perfectly. Very roomy (yet still cozy), family friendly home. Of course the Grandfather folks, as always, were super nice and attentive (roads always plowed and driveway was upon request). We had a great time and a great stay and the owners couldn't have been nicer.

We'll be back!!!
