Kathleen & I live and work in Charlotte NC but enjoy the piece & quiet the Owls Nest has to offer. I was raised in eastern Kentucky and have always been drawn to the mountains. We were fortunate to find this property and enjoy taking family & friends when the opportunity arises. I don't think anyone can find a more relaxing rental in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Glenn Creech purchased this cabin in 2007
The Owls Nest is located on 5 acres and has trees behind the cabin and the river running through the front yard. The views are wonderful and the sound of the river, birds and wind in the trees is soothing to the soul!!
The Owls Nest is the perfect location to get away and relax without being to far from civilization if you choose.
A large new covered porch with fireplace makes Owls Nest more enjoyable even through the coolest months.
Best cabin rental yet! It was my husband and I and our Labradoodle and Miniature Poodle! Got there on Tuesday evening, had snow Wednesday and Thanksgiving day, the most beautiful scenery weha have seen! Too cold to use the outside fireplace. The cabin had everything we needed, can't think of anything we didn't have that we needed! We felt very at home. We will be going back soon! We love the Owls Nest!!
We rent a cabin at least once every year, and this is by far the best we've ever stayed at.
The views are awesome, and we had fun tubing on the river with our yorkie-poo! The outdoor fireplace is an awesome addition. It was cool the weekend we were there and we spent most of our time there. Loved the birdfeeders by the porch. We got the bird books out and identified all of the many birds we saw. We will definitely be back next year. Can't wait!
We absolutely LOVED our stay at the Owls Nest over the weekend!! This cabin felt just like home! It was so cozy! Everything in the cabin was SO nice!! We would definitely stay again! The owners were very kind and helpful! There were 6 adults and 2 toddlers and we had a blast!! The views outside the cabin were JUST as pretty as the inside!! We loved being my the river!! This is the perfect weekend getaway!!
This definitely the place my family and I needed. My dog absolutely loved being able to run all over the property. I really think my dog had a smile on his face the entire weekend. The cabin itself is very welcoming. Made me feel like we were at home when we walked in. Everything was so nicely kept. I told my husband that out of all the places we have stayed this one by far was the best. I loved being secluded and didn't mind if we had to drive to get to West Jefferson or Boone. The added bonus was the old truck right when you pulled in to go to the property. When we come back to the area I would love to stay here again.
We recently enjoyed a wonderful long weekend at the Owls Nest in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Creston, NC. Our favorite thing to do by far was to relax in the rocking chairs on the big front porch that overlooked the New River and all of the beautiful landscaping. There were adorable bird houses every where we looked, and we were entertained by birdsong every morning as we sipped our coffee on the porch. The cabin was nicely decorated and very comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped and, along with the gas grill on the porch, made cooking meals away from home very easy. Many thanks to Glenn and Kathleen for allowing guests to share a little of their vacation paradise!
It was a charming, very guite place with great views. The view of the river out one window and the mountain out the other was very nice. I couldn't believe how quiet it was.
