This is a truly dreamy home for vacation . A WOW ocean view surrounded by jungle and wildlife yet only 200 meters from the very cool town and beaches of Montezuma. The town is a unique and special place where world travelers come and go. Interesting international characters mingle with locals in this still small town year round. It's not unusual to hear 4 or 5 different languages while dining out at one of the many great restaurants here.
The home is the result of several years of planning as well as some very excellent work done by a local builder . We think you'll find it a difficult place to leave when the time comes.
There are 3 bedrooms, all have air cond. The breezes are pretty consistent on this high lookout so no mosquitoes . But just in case the house has many ceiling fans even on the patio. There are two double beds and a king, also two couches which fold down for sleeping. The patio has a high drop below and for this reason is not recommended for small children.
The house was recently completed and gorgeous. Listen to the waves, come sit and dream.

My wife and I have been coming to Montezuma for 13 years now and have come to think of it as our second home. We consider ourselves to be very lucky to have been able to purchase and build on this very special and unique piece of property. It's very unusual in the way it feels so private and surrounded by jungle and yet so close to town , and of course the jaw dropping view. We both live in the Seattle area and hope to be able to spend more time down there with retirement. Until then come down and enjoy our home!
That's the best way to have a vacation in Costa Rica: In a magnificent Villa overlooking the forest and the Pacific ocean.
You arrived at the house, greeted by a very sympathetic Peter that shows you all the functionalities and then you arrived at the porch and then WOW what a view!!
The house is beautiful, did I mention the view?! very practical, totally comfortable, close to the beautiful village of Montezuma.
The house has all that is needed. You just have to go to the market, buy fish directly from the Fishermen's house, enjoy the view and all the activities in the area. Beaches, parks, restaurants, wildlife, etc.
Thank you Peter for your precious advice, professionnalism and generosity.
Thank you Mike for the opportunity for my spouse and I to have enjoyed such a beautiful place.
Will come back with the kids for sure.
We, family of 5, stayed here for 4 nights. Although we contacted the owner less than a day before, the booking procedure was swift and efficient. The house and its location even exceded our high expectations which were based on the photos. The house is recently built and is fully equipped with amenities like microwave, washing machine, dryer etc. and has fast working internet WiFi.
The views from the terrace are unique: jungle, ocean, animals. We went to sleep with the sound of rolling waves. Paradise found......
The caretakers, Alice and Christos, did everything to make us feel home and were there when you needed them.
Alkthough we were by car, we did not use it going to the village and beach. We walked the 10 minutes downhill, and after once but never again (uphill is only for masochists), we took a cab or bade for a ride uphill (2-4 dollars).
We have enjoyed our stay very, very much, it could not be better!
I recommend this property a 100% The house is absolutely gorgeous, it is not huge but you don't need more (it has 3 bedrooms and we end up using only 2). The view takes your breath away! There is a lot to do in town, just a few minutes "literally" down the hill, but if you are looking for quiet and peace, the house is perfect for that too. We saw all kind of creatures, including about 15 white-faced monkeys right in the balcony. I would recommend not driving, instead take a shuttle from the airport (into the ferry) to Montezuma, the roads are a little bit scary, specially at night :) and once you are in town you can walk everywhere or take a taxi that is very inexpensive vs. a car rental that is very expensive when you factor in insurance fees. Don't let anybody "take" you to the nearby waterfall, you can do this on your own and for free! Don't rely on Wifi if you need to work or do homework! Christos and Alice are very nice and friendly people. A dream-came-true vacation, I can cross an item off my bucket list, but I am also looking forward to go back in a near future.
We arrived here for the second leg of a three-couple, two-stop trip, with the first meant to be active and our time in Montezuma for relaxing. We could not have picked a better place to unwind.
The home is everything it looks like in the pictures, which is a positive as well as maybe the only critique. It's the three bedrooms and one kitchen/open room, and that's it. But the best part of the home is the porch facing the ocean, just as you'd imagine it would be from the photos. The home is impeccably clean and fully equipped -- for instance, there's a TV and DVDs that you'll never need to watch. The washer and dryer come in handy. The AC cranks -- and the cool air was a welcome contrast to the dusty heat of Montezuma and Cobano in April.
The home is situated just up the road from town, high enough on the hill for an outstanding view but close enough for a 10-minute walk down the road. After the first time you walk up the hill, you'll just pay the 1000c ($2) for a taxi to drive you. There's no path, you're walking in the street, which stinks in the heat and could be dangerous in the dark.
The best part of the house is sitting on the balcony/porch. There are hammocks, reclining chairs and a gas grill, all of which you'll want to use while watching a picture-perfect sunrise -- the sun sets, unfortunately, on the other side of the peninsula. You'll also see wildlife on the property -- amazing birds, Coatis rummaging for food and iguanas absorbing sun. We never saw monkeys, but we heard em howl.
For us, the weather was such that we could sit out there any time of day and relax. And as soon as we wanted to do something, we were moments from town and the excellent restaurants, the grocery stores and quirky town life.
The property's caretakers are friendly Canadians who mostly stay out of your way. The day we arrived, they'd taken a trip to Jaco, and Peter, an Austrian expat who runs travel expeditions and rents ATVs in town, met us at the home and let us in. Peter turned out to be a bonus -- a great source for the lowdown on which restaurants and excursions were good values.
We really couldn't have envisioned a better experience in Montezuma, and this home and the people associated with it were a big part of the reason we enjoyed ourselves so much. The people in town and the restaurants are top notch -- and the location, being able to take a boat to so many places or ride an ATV to other towns or walk to the waterfall -- made this a good central location.
Seeing Costa Rica has been on my "bucket list" for 4 years and we finally got to go. I researched the country and poured through 100's of VRBO's before finally deciding on this one. I also specifically planned to go in the "dry season" so we wouldn't be rained out from going on excursions. Great idea but wrong if you want to see Costa Rica in it's beauty; we saw it at not it's best; pretty dry, dusty roads & landscapes and also LESS wildlife for the same reason. HOWEVER, the VRBO itself was absolutely WONDERFUL (I'd give it 5 stars). The owner was very quick to reply to my many emails and patiently answered many questions from me leading up to our arrival. The caretakers' casita is well apart from the main house, so privacy is all yours. I was outside on the deck all 7 mornings before sunrise, staying out there a few hours each morning, to watch for wildlife. The white-faced monkeys came twice and the Howler's once; each monkey visit lasted about 10-15 minutes, but we got to see them. There were iguanas and Coati that came several times each day and we saw an Agouti, a squirrel and a Blue Morph butterfly once each. This is a place to TRULY RELAX and enjoy an awesome coastline view!! We recommend if you're planning on heading anywhere near the Montezuma area NOT to drive during dark hours, especially on your arrival day. Their bridges are all 1-lane wide in that whole area, most don't have side-rails, nor warning signs and would be very hard to see at night and it's a little awkward navigating in/out of the gated entrance to this VRBO because of it's location on a curve. When returning from Montezuma to the VRBO, we'd turn our A/C off, roll down our windows and "listen" for any possible vehicles coming around the sharp curve before turning left into the gate area. We only mention the driving for safety reasons but are NOT trying to sway you from coming here - it IS worth it!
Rented this beautiful home with my wife and father-in-law over Christmas Holidays 2013/14.
Absolutely gorgeous views, spacious rooms, everything you could possibly need.
Owner was honest and very easy to deal with.
Definitely would stay here again, and very highly recommend.
The house is located at the end of a 'peninsula' of land which ends immediately above town of Montezuma and is the reason for it's spectacular view.
