This property is a cute little cottage with style and comfort. It has been
completely remodeled for fun and enjoyment with a little flair from the
owner's love of nature and African animals.
It feels like you are viewing the valley and mountaintops from the treetops. Its cozy for your comfort but with a BIG feel......we hope you enjoy staying there as much as we had designing it.
See you soon. Please note availability is only June 1st through October 31. Come relax in the cool summer mountains.

I'm not sure exactly how we stumbled across the Tucan in Bailey, but am glad we did. Having never been to Colorado, we wanted to see some picturesque site, possible fish , see some concerts at Red Rocks Amphitheater and travel to Breckenridge & Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs. This location was central all of them and the views (we stayed off the interstates) were breathtaking. The deck of the cottage had awesome views and offered a tranquil setting. We really appreciated the suggestions offered by the hosts, Judith and Richard. The cottage was clean and cozy. Plenty of windows and a lot of privacy that offered us a retreat from our daily hustle & bustle. Thanks again!
Tucan was the perfect getaway! We stayed here a week and enjoyed every minute.
Easy drive to Red Rocks, and a couple of day trips to Denver and Golden. Comfortable place to "come home" after seeing the sights- clean and comfortable. Judith and Richard are great hosts.
Stayed here over the fourth of July weekend, and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. It was spotlessly clean upon arrival, and was exactly as advertised.
The cottage sits partway up the wall of a valley that provides great views, and somehow feels very isolated despite the other homes in the area. There are several roads close by that take you to breathtaking views (Pine Valley Road, in particular, is incredible).
The cottage has the perfect amount of amenities, and a deck that I could sit on all day, smelling that wonderful mountain air, watching the birds, and gazing at the nearby peaks. Again, just a wonderful, wonderful location.
Sealing the deal was the owner of the cottage. Judith is very friendly, and equally happy providing tips for things to do and places to go as she is stepping back and giving you the feeling that you're all alone in your private hideaway. Her house is close by if you need something, but completely out of sight from the deck and windows of the house if you don't.
I can't stress enough how private this place feels, just a fantastic place to getaway for a weekend. I'll definitely be looking for an excuse to come back!
After a long day of travel, getting in after dark, what awaited us was the warmth of homemade bread and friendly hellos from Judith and RIchard from their deck above Tucan. In the morning, we had a blanket of snow and a huge variety of birds at the feeder. They were the most gracious hosts we have ever encountered at a VRBO! The cottage is decorated so warmly and is very modern. Direct TV and WiFi helped us keep up with happenings back in our state and provided an opportunity to even watch our home college football game. Judith and Richard helped us find great fishing and hiking spots and we appreciated the time we had hanging out with them during the visit. Bailey is so centrally located and just hours or minutes away from many hiking and historical spots. We had a very wonderful time during our 4 short days and were sad to say goodbye to them and the area. Tucan Cottage is a treasure and we hope to be back in 2014 for sure!
Judith & her husband were very accommodating. My brother and I had a short amount of time to stay, but we wanted to spend time in nearby Staunton State Park (beautiful hiking/mountain-biking trails/climbing, etc). They recommended a peaceful morning bike-ride through their quiet residential neighborhood. The house was immaculate, beautifully-decorated, with updated fixtures. My regret is that we weren't able to stay longer but since I live in the Front Range, I'll be sure to visit again.
Although we visited Colorado during the Great Floods of 2013 at the Tucan guest cottage, our stay there was very home-like and comfortable. The views of the surrounding Mountains were breath-taking. It was everthing my wife and I hoped it would be ! The VRBO advertisement was exactely as described. The cottage was extremely clean (everthing in he cottage was like new !) Judith and Richard were exceptional as hosts during our stay, giving us options for activities to take in during our week stay.
The driveway at first might seem intimidating, but it is not the beast it looks to be! When the rains came, we knew we had a safe and welcoming place to return to at night. We would highly recommend Tucan for a Colorado vacation !
Colorado offers many Open Space Parks that are free to the public. Most allow horseback riding. This accesses large areas of open forest which offers visitors many options. Parking and well maintained public utilities are always available. There's hiking, fishing, climbing, biking, wildlife viewing, camping, kayaking, canoeing, tubing, picnic facilities, pavillions, and more. Tucan Guest Cottage is within 15 minutes of many of these parks.
