Unique cottage on bluff overlooking Lake Catherine, about 4 miles outside of Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Just the right size for a couple or a family of 4. Beautiful lake views from the front room, living room and deck. Lots of wild life.
The cottage consist of one bedroom and one bathroom with and additional sleeping area on the glassed in front room. There is a queen size memory foam mattress in the bedroom and a full sized futon in the front room. If you have a boy and a girl, I also have a blow up mattress just right for one or the other, just let me know.
Vaulted ceiling in combination Living room-kitchen.
Kitchen has all new cabinets, above the stove microwave, new fridge. Pots, pans and dishes included to make sure you can cook your own meals. I have also included a coffee pot and toaster.
The bathroom is accessed through the master bedroom. Please be aware of this, as it may be a problem with more than a couple staying.
This is one of the most restful places I have ever lived. The road is off the beaten trail, and only the few neighbors will drive by.
The deck is wonderful, nice place to sit and enjoy the sunrise, a nice drink and beautiful lake views.
You can walk down to the lake on public access steps, but, it is a steep climb up, and there is no beach or dock. VERY STEEP climb. There is a public water access just up the road where you can launch a boat or fish. Water can be very cold here since it comes from below the dam up stream. There is off the road parking at the back of the house, several steps up to the parking area.

I love to travel and am excited to offer my home to others who love to travel. I have lived in Hot Springs since 1987.
Melanie purchased this cabin in 1992
I purchased this home in 1992, I lived there full time for awhile and now use it as a getaway spot. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.
It is so peaceful and quiet here on Lake Catherine. I love hanging out on the deck and relaxing with my friends and family.
Very close to Hot Springs, and all its attractions. You can chose to do as much or as little as you want. About 2.5 miles from the Bypass, so you can be anywhere in Hot Springs in just minutes.
This was a very relaxing and great get-a-way. Melanie's house is comfortable, clean, and far enough out to feel like you are completely immersed in the country, while simply being 7 miles from all the sites.
We cooked and stayed in for most of our meals over the weekend and everything we needed to cook and prepare the food was provided. We made it a point to go and walk Central Ave., visit the Fordyce Bathhouse museum, and walk Garvin Gardens.
The view off the deck of Lake Catherine is so relaxing, and the sound of the water is wonderful!
For a couple or small family looking for an affordable place to stay-this is it! This cabin is also pet friendly which was very important.
I would definitely stay here again!
We had a wonderful time at this cabin. It was clean and comfortable. Pros: comfy bed, bbq pit, fire pit, full kitchen, pets allowed, sun room with a lake view, close to town yet far away enough to feel like you can relax with nature. I would happily stay here again.
My friends and I are nursing students from Fort Worth. We were looking to get away before the semester began. Melanie was quick to respond and even met us at the cabin. We were going to stay just one night, but in a spur of the moment decision we asked Melanie if we could stay an extra night. She was very accommodating. There is a steep stone path down to the water where you will find a dock. We sat and watched the sunset. It was so peaceful. We could hear turkeys in the distance. Some tips for the house: if you have a problem walking on uneven surfaces, this is not the place for you. (Melanie clearly states there are about 13 steps to get to the house) You might get some visitors while sitting around the campfire- little black and white cat we named, Noche, was sitting on our laps and a gray tiger in the mornings as well as a couple of dogs. Lastly, the house is older and the bath is off the bedroom (bed is very comfy), but everything works and is in good condition. Can't beat the price ether! We recommend Rolando's for dinner (don't let the menu fool you), Mr. Whisker's for lunch, the bathhouse museum at the vistor's center, the Buckstaff Bathhouse for a traditonal bath (Quapaw was closed for renovation), going to the top of the tower on Hot Springs Mountain, and Smoking' In Style BBQ.
My husband and I wanted to find a quite and cozy cabin on a lake and be able to take our 2 small puppies, and we found that in The Knotty Pine Cabin!!! Just as in their website, it was perfect!!! My husband said I cooked more in the 2 days we were there than I do at home!!!! Everything was clean. My puppies did NOT want to leave!! What I really enjoyed was I had my TV in the living room and my husband had his in the den! Thanks again Ms. Melanie for the use of your lovely cabin on beautiful Lake Catherine!!! We will be back!!!!
My wife and I needed a getaway for the weekend and neither of us had ever been to Hot Springs. I found this cabin on VRBO and we decided to give it a try. It is a small cabin as described in the ad, but perfect for what my wife and I needed. It had a nice view of the lake and was far enough away from the city to be nice and quiet, yet close enough that we could be on the main drag in about 10-15 minutes. It was dreary weather, cloudy with light showers off and on, but that didn't hamper our stay. We enjoyed a couples massage one day and rented some redbox movies for that night. The next day we walked around Bathhouse Row and toured Fordyce Bathhouse. It was very interesting to learn the history of Hot Springs and see it all. I would highly recommend Hot Springs if you haven't been and also this cabin for a nice, quiet, romantic getaway. And to top it off, it came with a GREAT pricetag. Thanks for a great weekend!
We were grateful to stay outside the "big city" while being close enough for a simple drive to tourism sites and food. Garvan Gardens, our favorite of the area, was much closer than we expected!
I would recommend this property for families, seeing as the south side of historic Hot Springs and the lakes are more appropriate for their interests/ages.
