Overview

Point Lookout House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms, 4.5 Baths, (Sleeps 9-11)

Savor dramatic penthouse views in your own private beach house. This light-filled four-story house offers the best in outdoor luxury living. Surrounded by glass and balconies on every level, Kentigern provides bedrooms with private balconies and great gathering spaces, all in one home. Enjoy the fun of your group and then retreat to your own space. Fall asleep to the sound of waves in the background. Wake up to fabulous sunrises over the Chesapeake Bay. This is a house you won’t want to leave.

Kentigern is sited on its own 2 acre sandy lot with a beach at the south end. For the adventurer, 2 kayaks on premise are provided for guest use. Kayak directly on the Chesapeake Bay or in the quiet solitude of one of the creeks where you and the herons may be the only guests. This house is an away destination: Herons are joined by osprey, bald eagles, pelicans and the occasional dolphin or two.

Scotland is steeped in history, too. St. Mary’s City, 10 miles away, is the original capital of Maryland. The area dates back to the 1600s and was one of the early colonies. Only 80 miles away is the nation’s capital, Washington, DC – if you can drag yourself away from the beautiful beach setting. Point Lookout Park, a Civil War POW camp and now a large park and campground, is only a short bike ride away. Nestled between the Bay and the Potomac River, the Park is worth an expedition.

Return to Kentigern again and again.

Kentigern - couples getaway

  • 4 of 5

This was our 3rd time staying in one of the properties in Scotland Yards. Kentigern is a very well equipped home with views second to none!! We did have an issue when we arrived with the cleaning service. We found what looked like someone had started to clean but had not finished as the floor in the kitchen had not been vacuumed or mopped. There were dirty linens left by the door too. The bathroom in the penthouse suite needed additional cleaning as well. I will say once our call was made to the property manager a cleaning person was sent and the issue was resolved.

With that said, I would return to this area without hesitation. It is great for bike riding, a trip to Buzzy's, Point Lookout, and Slack Winery!

Owner's Response: At Scotland Yards, we take pride in providing our guests the best experience possible. In this instance we fell short, for which we apologize. We would like to say that this is a very rare occurrence. And, we worked quickly to rectify the situation. We have now changed our procedures with respect to cleaning to avoid such an occurrence in the future. We appreciate our guests and respect their feedback.

Kentigern Winter Get away

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at Kentigern, 4 couples. What a great place! The house is well equipped with everything you could need. Kitchen is great for putting on large meals. The sunrises in the morning are spectacular from all the bedrooms in the house. The penthouse suite is incredible. Highly recommend the Slack Vineyard wine tasting as well as stopping by Buzzy's. Point Lookout Park is also a nice drive and weather permitting, get out and enjoy the great views. We are looking forward to returning Kentigern.

Kentigern Beach House!

  • 5 of 5

This house was all that we wished for and more to spend our Christmas holiday in. We had 11 family members and one newborn and it couldn't have been more perfect. Views were wonderful and watching the sunrise was amazing. We had everything in the rental that you could possible want in a rental. Hope to be back for another family get together.

WOW!

  • 5 of 5

This was the greatest house! We met our cousins (4 of us total) had a great reunion at this lovely house. The place is absolutely perfect. The contemporary decor was top notch. It felt like we were visiting someone's home . . not a stripped down rental house. The views were spectacular!! The place was well equipped for entertaining and cooking. The owner has thought of everything you might need and it feels very welcoming. We LOVED this place. Hope to return soon. Thank you.

Great family week end on the Chesapeake Bay!

  • 5 of 5

at first the house seems a little quirky but once you actually begin living in it and as the time goes on it is a phenomenal rental! It is the first home I have rented for a vacation that I actually liked it better the longer the vacation lasted. My family (kids, spouses, under 6 mos. grandchild) all agreed with the 5 star rating and would jump at the chance to stay again if we are to be in that area. The one group we could not recommend is for families with young mobile children as the stair's layout could be a problem.

Beyond our expectations!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house with another family. Four adults and four children. The house and views are simply wonderful. Every floor has balconies with unobstructed view of the beautiful bay. Inside the house is flooded with light all day long. It is beautiful decorated with so much attention to detail. The kitchen is a joy to prepare meals in with a full stocked pantry. There are so many places to be and hang out we were never in each other's way. The kids had a whole floor for themselves. Outside the private beach is perfect. It is shallow for a ways out with a mostly sandy bottom. Our four children were able to swim with no worries of being "swept" out to sea. We spent many days just hanging out in our beach chairs while the kids all played. There are bikes and kayaks for you to use. The bay is very easy to kayak on and the kids had no problems navigating the waters. Overall be had a perfect week!

Our one suggestion is to have a gas grill along with the charcoal grill provided. Sometimes with kids, you just want to quickly grill up some hotdogs for lunch and that is a little time consuming with the charcoal grill. So with that the house would be absolutely perfect.

We will be back!
