About Shannon French

When I was 27 years old, I decided to sell real estate. Shortly after at the age of 29, I decided to open my own brokerage, Southern Trade Realty (Oct. 2006 so you do the math to see how old I am now)! I quickly learned to combine my passion for designing, creating and decorating to another level. I started to invest in real estate at a very young age, and I am still very passionate about it. I really enjoy getting to know my guests and proud to say I now have repeat buisness. I concentrate on making sure my guests are happy and I take pride in the comfort of my properties and of course, the decor has to be just right. Feel free to call me Shannon 804-815-1912.

Why Shannon French chose Gloucester

This area is where I personally grew up. I remember the days on the river at a very young age. I fished, crabbed, learned how to swim, relax, kayak, explore and I am still enjoying all of this today with my family and friends.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Pictures cannot even describe this property (many of our guests say this once they arrive). It is one of the most serene places to be. Listening to the waves crash up against the rocks at night, taking a nap in the hammock on a warm summer afternoon, to watching the Osprey on the river, there is not a better place to enjoy nature at it's best. It is all at your fingertips.

Needs Cosmetic Work

  • 3 of 5
We stayed at the farmhouse in April with a family group. The house was certainly large enough for us but the layout was inconvenient with the two bathrooms both being located on the first floor. One bath was an "en suite" for the first floor master bedroom; that leaves the first floor "hall bath" to be shared by the occupants of the three upstairs bedrooms.

The house needed some cosmetic repairs. When we walked in the front door, there was a large white patch on the living room wall that should have been repainted. The kitchen cabinets were very nicked and the plastic on the kitchen ceiling light fixture was broken; the refrigerator door handle kept coming off. The cover was missing on the electrical outlet under the table in the laundry area. Some of the window blinds in the house were broken. The two black leather couches in the second living area both had cushions that were shredded.

On the positive side, the furniture in the rest of the house was very nice and the beds were comfortable.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your feedback and we are certainly happy you were well rested from sleeping in our comfortable beds and were pleased with our furniture. The hole in the wall was from the prior renter's sons getting into a fight and punched a hole in my wall. We had sheetrock mud on there waiting for it to dry so we could paint it (which is done now). Obviously we did not want to disturb your visit. I myself was shocked to see the couches in that condition and immediately replaced them with a sleeper sofa. Yes one of the bathrooms is located in the Master Bedroom which is in the description of the home and the other bathroom is located in the hallway. The cabinets have been repainted (so good as new), rugs, blinds, pots & pans, etc have been replaced, which was all done prior to this review. This home stays booked. Therefor making it hard to get in and do little cosmetic repairs. The families after you had this to say about our home:
April 23-27, 2014 "Thank you for the beautiful home where 4 sisters, mother, grandmother, husbands and children were able to enjoy the beach, kayaking, Bush Gardens and Colonial Williamsburg. Great memories were made here. Beautiful country and view. We loved it all!!!!! Next family stayed May 2-5 had this to say "This beautiful home was a God send for us to be close to our son for his wedding. The home is SO NICE!!! The kids loved the tire swing, chickens and the beach even though the water was so cold……. Next family stayed May 11-14 "We are nine women who were looking for a place to celebrate our youngest friends 50th birthday-and we REALLY LOVED STAYING HERE!!!!! Your home is beautiful and CLEAN!….. As you can see over and over again my renters are always happy and pleased to stay in my rental homes. I try very hard to make sure these houses are well maintained and clean. I am sorry I over looked a broken receptacle cover under a table! I will make sure I put that on my list! Thank you again for choosing our home to vacation in!

Charming Farmhouse

  • 5 of 5
Myself, husband and his two sisters stayed a week in this wonderful quiet farmhouse. If you don't sleep well through the night at home chances are you will here. We traveled to Busch Gardens, Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown and found the ride to these place quite enjoyable and not long. Shannon was great to deal with and had a chance to speak with her husband on the way to the beach one day. What a wonderful couple. I would recommed this place to all who want to visit the area attractions and still have time to relax. Thanks Shannon for doing a great job with the decor and keeping the place so clean for your renters.

Tranquility at its best (even with six kids!)

  • 5 of 5
Wow! This place lived up to expectations and MORE! We were able to fit in during an open time frame of just two nights. Originally we were just looking for a place to "crash" in the evenings from days at Bush Gardens. (We were three famlies, with two kids each, all ages 5 and under). But after arriving on the doorstep, we knew that this vacation would be much more then about Bush Gardens - we quickly slipped into an idyllic state of calm and sereness, enjoying the wide open spaces, and beautifully decorated house. Even though this was a rental house, we felt like we were at home with such welcoming information and personalized letter when we arrived at the house.

The smaller cottage on the property also looked beautiful - if you are a smaller family, i definitely suggest checking it out - its right on the beach, and i'm sure you'll experience blissful sleep at night hearing the small waves crash along the beach.

Definitely will return! :)

Charming House

  • 5 of 5
This house was perfect for our group. The kitchen is well equipped. There is 1 bedroom down and 3 up. One small thing you should know: both bathrooms are downstairs, which wasn't a problem for us, but was somewhat of a surprise. The beds and linens were comfy. Washer/dryer a nice addition. Loved the river, slide and kayaks. We were only a short drive to the Williamsburg area for the attractions there. Plenty of places to eat. Shannon has a wonderful book with advice for grocery shopping, sightseeing and eating. She greeted us with a big wave when we arrived and made us very comfortable. You need a good GPS (which we had) or a very good map to find this place, that's part of the charm. We saw rabbits everywhere, lightening bugs at night, and just generally enjoyed the area. Be sure to stop in the country store down the road. It's a trip back to another era. All in all we highly recommend Shannon's little piece of paradise in Gloucester Virginia!

Had such a wonderful week. Great house, just perfect for a family holiday. Kids loved spending the days playing on the beach and making buttercup chains. Also close to Williamsburg and Busch Gardens which is a must. Such a relaxing peaceful spot, will definitely return. Thank you.
