Welcome to the Missouri Ozarks and Bull Shoals Lake. Being 5 hours from the nearest major city, Bull Shoals Lake is a virtually undiscovered 'piece of heaven'. This large, clear water lake is both beautiful and scenic.
Enjoy water skiing, tubing, swimming, scuba diving, boating and fishing in this beautiful, clear water lake. Lake temps are comfortable for swimming from June through September, reaching the upper 80's in late summer. So bring your floater and lounge in the water for hours! The lake awaits the fisherman where Missouri record bass have been caught.
For your boating pleasure Pontiac Cove Marina is just a mile away. The marina offers boat stalls for daily use or annual contract. Boats can also be rented. Supplies can be purchased there. You can dine at Just Jackie's restaurant overlooking the marina. You can find guides for fishing there as well, if you need some expert help.
If beautiful clear water spring fed stream floating appeals to you, there are many outfitters in the area.
How about hiking... is that your passion? You are welcome to explore our 20 acres of Ozarks forest and bordering Corp of Engineers land. A terrific hike is just 2 miles down the road. It is the 1.5 mile (each way) hike through Core of Engineers land to a lovely place the locals call Buzzard's Bluff. This high bluff overlooks the lake at it's center. Once there you can see for miles over the lake. We will give you detailed directions for this adventure. Caney Mountain Conservation Area is a 30 minute drive and offers hiking in a preserve area. There is lots more hiking available in the nearby Ozark Mountains.
If you are a golfer, the Lost Woods Golf Course, formerly called Theodosia Country Club is just 30 minutes away.
If you are a hunter, this is great deer and turkey hunting country. You are welcome to hunt on our 20 acres, as well as on thousands of acres of Corp of Engineers land surrounding the lake. Our property borders this Corp of Engineers land.
We are 2 hours from Branson and Silver Dollar City. What more can we say about entertainment?!
Historic Ozark County, MO offers many old time sights to see.
If you are just looking to relax, soak up sun, read a book, swim and hot tub, just use our house. The deck faces east for morning scenery and sunshine. Relax on the deck and watch the buzzards catch a morning updraft. These are the most ugly but graceful birds you can imagine, soaring high in the sky with their 6 ft wingspan. In the winter, you will see bald eagles flying the valley by the house. The heated pool and hot tub await your pleasure. Evening sunset can be enjoyed from the covered front porch. In the evening you will realize that there aren't any bugs and mosquitoes! Well, we should say almost no mosquitoes. The rocky shore line and mountains are not conducive to mosquitoes, so we are never bothered by those creatures.
The town of Gainesville, MO (the county seat) is a 20 minute drive from Pontiac. Gainesville offers most of the services you would need. There is a grocery store, a building supply/hardware store, two banks, restaurants, gas stations, Dollar General, real estate offices, churches, a medical clinic, a public library, Ozark county court house, auto repair shops, a used car dealer and other businesses to supply most of your needs.
Come on down!
So why don't you come stay with us?! One visit to our Valley View House and you'll know why we enjoy it so much. Welcome to our home!

Hi, We Are Ron and Shirley.
We welcome you to Valley View House. We live in Colorado now, but we and our kids still love the Ozarks 'year round'. The beautiful, peaceful surroundings, heated pool and hot tub make this a lovely little piece of heaven. This place in the Ozark Mountains on Lake Bull Shoals draws us back time after time.
Ron Beard purchased this house in 1997
Ron built this house in 1997 with the help of a good friend and neighbor. He had already been coming frequently to Lake Bull Shoals for 25 years with his family. The house replaced a mobile home which had been the family vacation home until he moved here to retire and build this house. The house is 600 ft from highway W, so it is private, cozy, and surrounded by forest. We like being close to Pontiac Cove Marina, only one mile away. We love the water. Bull Shoals is such a clean and warm lake. And very few mosquitoes makes it wonderful! We love the quiet, remote beauty of the Ozarks. Here you can sit outside at night and actually see the Milky Way!
We also enjoy being away from all the hustle and bustle of city life. Here you can relax in the peace and tranquility of the area or travel a short distance (2 hours) to the excitement of Branson and the nearby theme park, Silver Dollar City. There you will find food and a wide variety of shows and entertainment for all ages.
If you like to entertain kids with amusement parks, water slides, shows, and electronics--- this place is not for you! And that's is exactly why we loved it. It is a place to unplug and relax. We love the beautiful blue waters of Bull Shoals and with the marina a couple of blocks away, it was very convenient. Plus, there are many places to hike around and explore. There are many beautiful rivers nearby too. We even appreciated the windy roads and small towns. We came prepared and we love that it is off the beaten bath and no Wal-Mart right down the road. The owner thought of everything including great directions to see some sights! Great place for families to re-connect!
We had such a great time staying at Valley View Home! It was a little piece of paradise tucked away! The pool and hot tub were bonuses! The view was awesome ... Close to the lake! Daily adventures to closest towns for a day of antiques and flea markets - relaxing at night letting kids swim- no closing time on the pool! Boat rentals just down the road at the marina! They also have bread and forgotten items!!
What a beautiful home! It was so much more than what we expected which was a pleasant surprise. If you are looking for a quiet, secluded place to get away and relax, I recommend this home. We spent our days sunbathing by the pool, reading, and relaxing and our evenings in the hot tub and playing darts in the family room. It's a nice home for several couples or a family with children. Bull Shoals lake is close by for those interested boating. We will definitely be going back.
We rented this home for a quiet, secluded get away from the our busy every day lives.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. The house was perfect for our family vacation! Location is great for anyone wanting to spend time on the awesome Bull Shoals Lake - the clearest lake we have ever visited. Marina was only a few minutes away and the individuals at the Marina were extremely friendly and helpful. We rented a slip and could travel to/from the house and be on the water in minutes. Pool and hot tub were wonderful to have while we were just relaxing at the house. Our children and grandkids loved having the private pool.
Thanks for a great vacation!
We stayed at the Valley View home for 8 days in August. The property far exceeded our expectations! The home was large enough for a family reunion or group of 8-12 people with three bedrooms, a futon in the loft, couches in the downstairs rec area and a single bed in the basement rec area as well. The pool is warm and large enough to swim small laps, slide into or cannonball into the deep end (just over 5 feet deep). The bird feeder just outside the kitchen window creates a haven for cardinals and other beautiful birds to show off while you eat breakfast or sit at the kitchen table. We saw lizards, frogs, large crickets with legs as large as frogs, dragon flies as large as hummingbirds, and "dancing" squirrels that did a little show for us in the trees outside the pool area.
The house is extremely well stocked, especially the kitchen which has several coffee makers, a blender, all the pots and pans and casserole dishes a cook could ask for! The owner labeled all the light switches, has well documented instructions for all mechanicals (pool, computer etc.) and has made sure you have all you need to stay at his residence. There is nothing you need, even floaty toys for the pool, full silver ware and punch bowls for the basement/pool rec area. The hots tub is comfy for 3-4 and the patio has ample comfy chairs on both the upstairs deck and the downstairs patio near the pool. It was like staying at our favorite Uncle Ron's house who had thought of our every need.
The nearest grocery store, Town & Country, is about 20 minutes away in Gainesville and the nearest boat dock, Pontiac Cove is about 6 blocks away. Boating on Bull Shoals lake was relaxing and we saw very few other boats during our stay. The lake water is green but clear and fairly warm for a lake so deep (about 644 feet we read). We tried out Pontiac Cove Marina as well as Bull Shoals Lake Boat Dock and thought both boat rental spots had friendly and helpful staff and a great selection of boats from houseboats, to wave runners and pontoon boats.
This area is very remote and there are not many houses nearby, which is great if you want to get a way. Bord watchers, photographers and nature lovers would adore this house. Families with small children, couples wanting a romantic getaway and small groups of adults wanting a home large enough to have space for yourself but in one location for a reunion or leisurely vacation would enjoy this spot. This house is a hidden gem at a great price!
This is a very nice place to rent, we have rented cabins else where and this one was perfect, it was easy to find, was very clean, it was more than what we expected , it was just what we were looking for to relax and get away from it all. The balconys were great to relax on or just watch the stars at night. Our family had a wonderful time swimming in the pool, they enjoyed night swimming too. it was very private which was really nice just what we were looking for.. The marina is just a short drive to rent a boat and have more fun.Overall this is one of the best places we have stayed in, didn't want to leave it to go back to work. My family and I want to thank you for sharing your home with use. It is a wonderful place. Hoping to be back next year.
September is beautiful. Lake water is warm enough to swim. Missouri Ozark Mountains, Lake Bull Shoals, summer water sports. fishing, scuba, boating. Remote area.
