Burnsville Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6-10)

Home away from Home on the South Toe River! Everything you need to enjoy the view and relax. Our home is accessible no matter what the weather. County maintained asphalt roads all the way to the driveway. Indoor Jacuzzi in the walk out basement along with a gaming table and bar all done in tasteful log cabin decor. Enjoy a movie on the big screen tv on the comfy sectional couch in the basement or have a game of cards or monopoly on the large game table. Upstairs enjoy the gas fireplace and turn the music up or watch your favorite tv show. Read a book at the outdoor table on upper deck under the umbrella as the birds eat at the feeders down below. Hummingbirds abound in the spring and you can see the trout swimming in the shallow waters in the South Toe River. In the summer, you can rent innertubes and drop the kids off upstream for them to get out right at your back yard. Trout fishermen are a common sight as well as other families floating downstream. Sleep at night with your windows open and let the sounds of the river lull you off to sleep! Wake up refreshed with a great cup of tea or coffee at the kitchen table which looks right out at the South Toe River.

No Matter what time of the year it is, the view is astoundingly peaceful!

About Robin Fowler

Mike and Robin have two boys, 15 and 18. Brendan is a college freshman and aspires to be an officer in the U.S. Army. Connor is a high school freshman and enjoys soccer. Robin likes to read on the deck and Mike likes to fish in the stream below.

Robin Fowler purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Robin Fowler chose Burnsville

Mike went to college at Western Carolina University and his parents bought a home in the general area many years ago. We spent many years looking for just the right home and it HAD to be on the river. Mike really enjoys fly fishing and Robin just likes the serenity of being close to the water. Both of us actually grew up in South Florida so having a home in the mountains has always been a dream for us.

What makes this cabin unique

When we get there it isn't unusual for Robin to just settle in, read books and relax. We enjoy going to the square to eat and visit our favorite clothing and gift shops. For lunch, there is the Garden Deli where you can eat inside or out and it's right on the square. In the spring, summer and fall, there is a craft fair featuring all kinds of local ware right on the square. There is a quaint little ONE SCREEN old-time theater that some of our guests have gone to see whatever movie is playing and there is even live theater. Mt Mitchell Golf Course is 10 minutes up the road and Carolina Hemlocks is a state park/camp site where you can rent inner tubes and play in the river. There is also a horse ranch up the road called Clear Creek and if they aren't booked up you might be able to squeeze in a trail ride if that's up your alley. Grandfather Mountain is about 45 minutes away and has great view and places to picnic. Crabtree Falls is a campground that allows you to follow the trail down to view a very cool waterfall, just remember you have to hike back up. You can do a lot or nothing at all and still have a wonderful time.

Always check with the Yancy county Chamber of Commerce to see what's coming up! http://yanceychamber.com/

We had an incredible stay

  • 5 of 5
We had an incredible time -- this home has everything -- great location, beautiful surroundings, and everything you could need to enjoy a stay. We were able to get to skiing in about an hour, went to Asheville to do some exploring, played family games at the game table, and relaxed at the end of the day in the hot tub. There was plenty of room for our two sets of kids who had never vacationed together -- lots of room so they could get off on their own (and use the free wifi) when they wanted, but we could all eat and sit around the fireplace for some family time. We brought our dogs and even they had a great time. We will definitely look to rent again whenever we vacation in the NC mountains.

Truly a Dream on a Stream

  • of 5
This charmingly decorated home has everything you could ever want! The home had everything we could need to celebrate Christmas. The well-stocked kitchen made making Christmas dinner a breeze. There was plenty of room -- and a Christmas tree! -- downstairs to open gifts, as well as a table to play cards and watch TV. The beds are VERY comfortable and there are plenty of extra linens and towels if needed. After we got there, we found the walking sticks, the fishing poles, and all the other warm-weather "toys" that are beckoning us to come back every season.

The owner called us about a week prior, and again the night we checked in. I found her very warm and inviting, as if she were my best friend letting me stay in her home. She went out of her way to ensure that we had a terrific stay.

"Dream on a Stream" is a wonderful home on a picturesque river near a quaint, slow-paced small town. We can't wait to return.

Great Cabin Retreat

No detail left out. This beautiful cabin has it all! We were so very lucky to have had the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving weekend in the NC mountains tucked away just off the South Toe River.

Wonderful Time

  • 5 of 5
We had a chance to stay in July. We had the best time and enjoyed the peace and quiet so much. We fished and kayaked everyday! You are able to rent tubes right up the road and tube down to the house! Such a clean beautiful river. The house is very nice and well set-up with the downstairs where my kids were and my wife and I upstairs. We did play cards each night and had great family time away from phone calls and everyday distractions of normal home life. I enjoyed a cup of coffee early each morning on the porch while just watching the river flow past and enjoying the peace and quiet. I didn't want to leave! The house is well maintained and very nice inside and out. Robin was able to answer my question before I went up there and very nice to deal with before and after the trip. A tip from me is the Ingles discount card she leaves for guests is a must before going grocery shopping as it will save you alot. I would recommend this to all my family and friends and after seeing my pictures on-line everyone asks where I was and wants to go! I kind of didn't want to tell them in fear that so many find out about this wonderful place! I can't wait until next summer so we can head back to Burnsville!!!

paradise

I have rented homes from VRBO all over the country and Caribbean. This home is at the top of the list. The house was clean, well equipped. You didn't need anything but to relax. The tranquility of the river, the birds, deer and view were breathtaking. Day trips to many different adventures are within an hour. The owners were very accessible and made every effort to make sure you just enjoy the place. The kids enjoyed tubing down the river and I enjoyed fly fishing out back. I highly recommend if you want to getaway and just enjoy the views.

Magical River Cabin

  • 5 of 5
This is a wonderful cabin to enjoy the river and mountains near Mt. Mitchell. This is a quiet part of the Blue Ridge, not commercial. Cabin is stocked with everything you could need, including the treat of an indoor hot tub area that looks like you are in a spa.clean clean clean. Views from house and back porch to South Toe River are the perfect way to idle away the hours. The riverbank is perfect for casting out in the pristine, trout filled waters of the South Toe River. Large family room downstairs with big comfy sofas and large screen tv great for evenings. Drive up highway 80 to Micaville for the perfect ice cream made in Asheville, NC. Unique flavor combinations. Grocery shopping is up in Burnsville, Ingles is an excellent store. No bars, nightclubs, but the best art and craft artists in the eastern US found right around Yancey County. This cabin is great location for visiting the studios so close by. Cabin owners very nice to work with. Thanks for a wonderful time in your lovely mountain escape.
