RIVERFRONT DIRECT ACCESS TO TROUT RIVER WITH TRANQUIL VIEWS

Burnsville Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6-10)

Home away from Home on the South Toe River! Everything you need to enjoy the view and relax. Our home is accessible no matter what the weather. County maintained asphalt roads all the way to the driveway. Indoor Jacuzzi in the walk out basement along with a gaming table and bar all done in tasteful log cabin decor. Enjoy a movie on the big screen tv on the comfy sectional couch in the basement or have a game of cards or monopoly on the large game table. Upstairs enjoy the gas fireplace and turn the music up or watch your favorite tv show. Read a book at the outdoor table on upper deck under the umbrella as the birds eat at the feeders down below. Hummingbirds abound in the spring and you can see the trout swimming in the shallow waters in the South Toe River. In the summer, you can rent innertubes and drop the kids off upstream for them to get out right at your back yard. Trout fishermen are a common sight as well as other families floating downstream. Sleep at night with your windows open and let the sounds of the river lull you off to sleep! Wake up refreshed with a great cup of tea or coffee at the kitchen table which looks right out at the South Toe River.

No Matter what time of the year it is, the view is astoundingly peaceful!

Mike and Robin have two boys, 15 and 18. Brendan is a college freshman and aspires to be an officer in the U.S. Army. Connor is a high school freshman and enjoys soccer. Robin likes to read on the deck and Mike likes to fish in the stream below.

Robin Fowler purchased this cabin in 2008

Mike went to college at Western Carolina University and his parents bought a home in the general area many years ago. We spent many years looking for just the right home and it HAD to be on the river. Mike really enjoys fly fishing and Robin just likes the serenity of being close to the water. Both of us actually grew up in South Florida so having a home in the mountains has always been a dream for us.

When we get there it isn't unusual for Robin to just settle in, read books and relax. We enjoy going to the square to eat and visit our favorite clothing and gift shops. For lunch, there is the Garden Deli where you can eat inside or out and it's right on the square. In the spring, summer and fall, there is a craft fair featuring all kinds of local ware right on the square. There is a quaint little ONE SCREEN old-time theater that some of our guests have gone to see whatever movie is playing and there is even live theater. Mt Mitchell Golf Course is 10 minutes up the road and Carolina Hemlocks is a state park/camp site where you can rent inner tubes and play in the river. There is also a horse ranch up the road called Clear Creek and if they aren't booked up you might be able to squeeze in a trail ride if that's up your alley. Grandfather Mountain is about 45 minutes away and has great view and places to picnic. Crabtree Falls is a campground that allows you to follow the trail down to view a very cool waterfall, just remember you have to hike back up. You can do a lot or nothing at all and still have a wonderful time.

MAGICAL RIVER CABIN

  • 5 of 5
This is a wonderful cabin to enjoy the river and mountains near Mt. Mitchell. This is a quiet part of the Blue Ridge, not commercial. Cabin is stocked with everything you could need, including the treat of an indoor hot tub area that looks like you are in a spa.clean clean clean. Views from house and back porch to South Toe River are the perfect way to idle away the hours. The riverbank is perfect for casting out in the pristine, trout filled waters of the South Toe River. Large family room downstairs with big comfy sofas and large screen tv great for evenings. Drive up highway 80 to Micaville for the perfect ice cream made in Asheville, NC. Unique flavor combinations. Grocery shopping is up in Burnsville, Ingles is an excellent store. No bars, nightclubs, but the best art and craft artists in the eastern US found right around Yancey County. This cabin is great location for visiting the studios so close by. Cabin owners very nice to work with. Thanks for a wonderful time in your lovely mountain escape.

PERFECT VACATION RENTAL!

  • 5 of 5
It is a family tradition of ours to "run away" at Thanksgiving with our children. This year we wanted to find a cabin in the mountains, but near water for my husband that likes to fish. This cabin was perfect. Very clean and cozy. Everything you could possibly need was there. The owner was very helpful and would reply to emails very quickly. She offered many helpful ideas. We were lucky to of experienced about 6 inches of snow while there. The location of the cabin and snow was easily accessible even if you did not have a 4x4 vehicle. My whole family enjoyed and liked this cabin. We hope to visit again. Maybe when the weather is warm so that we can use the tubes and float down the river. It was a great trip that we will remember always!

GREAT GETAWAY

  • 5 of 5
Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at your house. It was the perfect place to stay. We were excited that there were so many hiking trails that lead to waterfalls near the house. We also enjoyed the hottub in the house! We will suggest this house to our friends and family.

PEACEFUL MOUNTAIN RETREAT

  • 5 of 5
My fiance and I just spent a four day weekend in this wonderful cabin. I'll admit, I was a little skeptical because we had never rented a home from VRBO before, but we were very pleasantly surprised! The cabin was clean, comfortable, and well furnished. The location is absolutely beautiful, with easy access to the water. We enjoyed the fact that the cabin was pretty secluded, so it was nice and quiet, but it was an easy drive (maybe 15 minutes) to town. The property owners were extremely accommodating, and even called to check on us a couple of times.

While we were there, we went for a drive on the Parkway, hiked to Crabtree Falls, and went up to Mount Mitchell. All of those were within a fairly short drive of the house. My fiance spent some time fishing in the river, and I loved reading out on the huge upper deck. We also enjoyed just hanging around the house and relaxing.

Thank you so much for sharing your amazing mountain home with us. We can't wait to plan our next trip!

WONDERFUL SPOT FOR FAMILIES AND A WEDDING

  • 5 of 5
Our recent trip to Celo was for our son's wedding at Mountain Farm. We are a large family and needed lots of space and to be close to the wedding site. This house was perfect for us. The kitchen is well stocked, the laundry room spacious, the bedrooms comfortable. The two living areas and the outdoor space were more than adequate for family and friends to gather. We also rented rooms at The Celo Inn, a short walking distance away for extra sleeping rooms. Our grandchildren delighted in the river, the hikes, the mica and all Celo that has to offer.

Having wifi and a printer in the house was so very helpful since we were in the midst of a wedding. Since there is no cell service, I purchased an old time "calling card". This worked very well.

We were not able to enjoy as much of the local ambiance as we would like, but hope to come back for a true vacation. I highly recommend this house for a vacation spot. If you are having a wedding or event in the area, it is a great gathering space for young and old.

Because we were their for our son's wedding

Owner's Response: We were so happy to be of service for this very momentous occasion! Thank you for your awesome review! Just FYI for future visits...our home phone has unlimited long distance so no need for a calling card.
Thank you again and we hope you will come again when you have time to relax.

WONDERFUL TIME!

  • 5 of 5
The wife and I enjoyed a long weekend at this beautiful cottage. Very well appointed, we were surprised at all the little extras. The river out the back door is incredibly clear and pure and just a perfect laid back spot for a little fly fishing. Local hiking trails lead to beautiful waterfalls and after all the activity we enjoyed a couple of microbrews and a slice at the Dry County Brewery and Pizza in Spruce Pine.Be sure to get a Growler to go! The locals were all very friendly, quite like stepping in a time machine back to simpler times. Thanks for sharing your special place with us Robin, see you next time!
