Guestbook comments from the owner

We found this cabin to be very neat & clean and centrally located for all of our

adventures in Acadia and surrounding area. Although it rained a little every

day except one in our weeks stay, it did not dampen our spirits or even slow us

down. We ate lobster for the first time ever. Quite an adventure! We hiked,

whale watched and ate like Kings & Queens. We had a great time.

First trip to Maine!

  • 4 of 5
My husband and I wanted a peaceful escape away from noise, a lot of traffic and people. BUT, we wanted to be a reasonable driving distance to get to the places we wanted to be. The oceanfront cottage was perfect for this. It's small, but just the right size for 2 people, quaint and in a very quiet area. Right on the water with plenty of activity to watch. Or, just sit quietly, watch a seal swim by, the birds fish, lobster boats work there floats, kayakers enjoying their time, etc. I personally enjoyed walking the beach and looking for interesting objects or critters stuck in the rocky pools after the tide went out. We could get to Bar Harbor within 40 minutes and then on to Acadia which is a stunning area. Our favorite day was going to Schoodic Point and visiting the mainland portion of Acadia. Very few people there, much quieter and stunning views and sunset from Schoodic Point. Then don't miss the Seafood Stew at the Winkled Pickle. We found the Lobster rolls in Maine over priced in the heavily traveled areas but once out of Bar Harbor, Camden and other well traveled sites prices were more reasonable for most everything. From our cottage we were able to enjoy good food, plenty of shopping, Beautiful sites everywhere and lots and lots to do OR...do nothing. We enjoyed that to and the cottage, lawn and beach offered that. Dick and Ivy were rarely seen and very quiet. We did not even know they were around most of the time. We found them to be excellent hosts, making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The neighbor right next door was also nice and stopped by to say hi. We would recommend the cottage for couples who don't have a large budget as it was extremely reasonable for the accommodations we got. Maine is a beautiful place both inland and on the coast and we loved our time there.

Relax and Enjoy the Views!

  • 5 of 5
Lamoine Beach was the perfect place for us to explore Acadia and the Schoodic Peninsula. We began our day outside with our coffee and tea watching the lobster boats, gazing at Cadillac Mountain, and listening to the waves gently come to shore. We hiked, biked and kayaked, just perfect. Ivy and Dick are wonderful host's as they are so knowledgeable about the area. The cottage is just enough for two, to relax and enjoy the beauty of this very beautiful spot on the water. We will always remember our stay with Ivy and Dick at Lamoine Beach, we highly recommend that you experience the beauty and serenity of this very special place.

Beautiful

  • 5 of 5
This place is perfectly located for an extended trip to Acadia NP. The view was breath taking and the home was cozy and warm. You could see Desert Island from almost every room in the house and the drastic rise and fall of the tide was amazing to watch. Just be aware that the ceilings are quite low,my husband is 6ft5 and he could not stand up straight in the kitchen and in the sitting room the fan was to low for him to walk around comfortably. Ivy and Dick were welcoming and helpful. Ivy's welcome muffins were delicious and we received more when we were leaving, they were a great morning snack on our way home. If we plan another trip to the area we would arrange to stay here again.

LaMoine Beach Cottage

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our week at Dick and Ivy's cottage by the sea. Dick and Ivy were the perfect host and hostess. Ivy provided a welcome treat of delicious muffins. Dick helped with directions to various locations that we wanted to visit. The cottage was cozy and homey. Ivy stocked it with all essentials including lobster crackers! The television broke one morning while we were preparing to leave for the day. Dick replaced it while we were gone and then made sure when we returned that we knew how to use the new one. The cottage is located close to Acadia National Park but far enough away that you are able to escape the crowds. The beach at the cottage is very nice and is quiet. We had a great time exploring and checking out the local lobster shacks. If you are considering a trip to Acadia, this is a great place stay! We loved our week at the cottage.

What a wonderful view!

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed our stay in the cozy cottage which contained every convenience we could have wanted. Ivy and Dick were friendly and informative hosts and it was great to hear the history of the property. The views are amazing! We had a seal follow us as we kayaked back from Raccoon Cove. A couple of days later, porpoises or dolphins come up within 6 feet from my kayak--what a great memory. Can't wait for next year :) Thanks for sharing your peaceful sanctuary!

wonderful way to spend a week

  • 5 of 5
The cottage was cute and everything was provided. The ocean view was beautiful. It is a great location to walk along the beach and enjoy the scenery. The nearby state park and beach adds additional opportunities to enjoy the ocean without crowds of people. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are nearby. Thunder Hole, Cadillac Mountain and lunch at Jordon Pond are good points of interest. We took a day trip Roosevelt Campobello International Park. If you go, don't forget your passport as it is across the border into Canada. It is a worthwhile trp. Be sure you ask for the free tickets to have tea. very interesting. If you are looking for a nice place to stay, a beautiful view, great hosts, good location, this is it. We enjoyed our stay.
