About Mary Wallace

I first visited Montana in 1980 and fell in love with the wild beauty of this place, so different from the lush green of my native home (Ireland) but very beautiful in it's vast skies, plentiful wildlife and snow-capped mountains. A few years later, my husband and I settled down in the gorgeous Paradise Valley to raise our two kids far from the madding crowds, and nestled in the pristine wonder of this land.

Mary Wallace purchased this house in 2000

What makes this house unique

My husband (a building contractor) built this geodesic dome in 2000 because he was passionate about building something different and unique. It's a wonderful home to live in or to visit, a great opportunity to try something new!

Great Vacation Home!

  • 5 of 5

My family rented the Dome Home over the Thanksgiving holiday and really enjoyed our stay. The house has a spectacular view of Emigrant Peak and Paradise Valley and is close to Chico Hot Springs. We found the accommodations very comfortable, clean, and well-appointed. There was plenty of space for 5 adults and 2 rowdy kids. The ping-pong table and jungle great were a hit. Yellowstone NP is an easy and lovely 45-minute drive away and communication with the owners was effortless. We have already recommended the Dome Home to friends!

the dome house

Our family of seven adults and two small children spent three days in this beautiful home. It was convenient to Chico Hot Springs and a lot more comfortable. It was also close to Yellowstone Park and we were able to spend a long day in the park and return to the house with enough energy to watch a movie in front of the big screen TV. There was a nice selection of recent movies appropriate for adults and little ones. This was the most well stocked vacation place I have ever stayed in. If someone needed something we always found it. We were able to dry our swimsuits in the clothes dryer so they were ready for a second swim in the morning after a late night dip in the Chico pool.

Thank you Mary. I will let you know about returning for Thanksgiving.

I forgot to mention the view. You can see Emigrant Peak and the whole valley from it's

position on a hill. Beautiful. My grandkids loved the playground set.

Could Not Ask for A Better Vacation Residence!!!

  • 5 of 5

We recently rented the Dome Home for a week-long family visit to Yellowstone and we could not be happier!! Though we did have to factor a little extra time to get to the park each day, the house was lovely, well equipped and probably the best VRBO rental we've ever had! We ended up cooking/grilling just about every day and we found the kitchen was incredibly well stocked with just about all the utensils and spices that we needed. The ping pong table was an added benefit as many members of our family took to daily ping pong challenges after dinner. They had plenty of movies and games that kept our teenage niece occupied and very happy as well. The owners were wonderful at communicating with us about the property and the view is priceless. We would definitely recommend this rental to any family looking to spend a nice vacation in the area with close access to the park.

Wonerful Home

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful vacation Home!!It is at least 5 stars. The Owner Mary was very gracious and a caring home owner. The house was amazing. Very clean and homey. Just like home. There was six of us and we had more than enough room. The house was decorated beautiful. It also had all the kitchen pots and pans every necessary to cook and be at home. The men enjoyed the pool table. The scenery was the best and we enjoyed setting out in back watching the lighting. We also had deer come and visit on a daily basis. We at first felt that it was a bit far from Yellowstone;, but soon found out that Paradise Valley was just as beautiful as Yellowstone, and we seen big horn sheep, buffalo, and deer on the daily commute. The Dome Home is a place that I would like to take my family and stay longer. Thank you Mary for letting us stay in your beautiful home. You are

the best!!

Beautiful, Peaceful & Spacious

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week in early June with 4 adults and 2 kids. It was a difficult decision whether to spend long days in Yellowstone or spend some time relaxing at this home each day.

The house is very spacious. We all had plenty of room to either be together or do our own thing. The living areas are comfortable and being able to let the kids watch TV but shut the doors to the TV room is very nice. The kitchen is well stocked. I was pleasantly surprised to find spices and a few basics there in the house. So often there is NOTHING which means all spices have to be purchased. There is no air conditioning in the house but while we were there it was no problem. It was wonderful to sleep with the windows open and it got quite chilly in the evenings while we were there. There were fans but we really didn't need or use them.

Location - this is so dependent on what you're looking for. We did end up driving to Yellowstone every day but the drive is pretty and we did not find it to be an issue. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of our own house away from the crowd. If I were doing the trip with only 2 adults, I'd be more inclined to stay in the park but with a whole family, being able to all stay & cook together in a nice place was worth more than the time driving and it's not like it was hard, city driving. We did go up to Livingston once and it was fine but we really found everything we needed at the house or between the house & the park.

Owner's Response: Hi Barbara, Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to write such a positive and comprehensive review for our Dome Home. Following your stay we did actually install an A/C unit in the main living area because June was SO very hot, and it was really needed. I'm delighted your family enjoyed the spaciousness of the dome, the scenic drive through the Paradise Valley, and the very special beauty of the Yellowstone Park. Thanks again for choosing our home for your vacation!

Paradise Valley

Our stay at the dome house went very well. The listing photos and description were very accurate. The owners could not have been more helpful. During our stay, the weather in Montana was unusually warm-in the 90"s, and the house did not have AC. The owners put in an extra AC unit and provided us with another fan, which was helpful. The house was very clean and well stocked with all kitchen items and bathroom items. We would recommend this property to others.

Our vacation home is situated in the very heart of the Paradise Valley. In just about 5 minutes you can be down by the river, fishing, rafting or swimming at the little 'beach' by the Emigrant fishing access.

Here you are ideally located for outdoor adventures. It's an easy drive to Yellowstone National Park (30 mins) with its fishing, hiking, geysers, waterfalls, fabulous wildlife viewing, and my personal favorite for mineral soaks - the Boiling River Hot Springs.
