This private, 2 story villa on a quiet, tranquil lane that backs to large green fields is the perfect oasis to come home to and relax after a full day of wine tasting or exploring. It feels secluded, yet is close to everything: 5 minutes from downtown restaurants and theatres, even closer to major and gourmet grocery stores. In the morning, walk one short block to the ''Cafe De Croissant'' and it's piping hot buttery creations, or a little further to Starbucks.
Or cook up a huge breakfast in this well-stocked modern kitchen.
There are major wine roads in all directions from the house: 10 min. to the south is the verdant Sonoma Valley, with it's lush vineyards and stately old oaks. Stop in at Ledson Winery incredible Gothic castle for a picnic from their deli on their beautiful grounds, take in the serene French chateau at St. Francis Winery, or go underground into the wine caves of Kunde.
Ten min. to the north on Hwy 1 is the quaint town of Healdsburg, with it's charming Victorian square, tasting rooms, shops, Zagat rated restaurants, and the hopping off point for the Dry Creek Valley wine road, with dozens of award winning boutique wineries, and the fabulous gardens out at the villa at Ferrari-Carrano Winery, always worth a visit. Or head NW to Calistoga, the starting point for Napa's famed Silverado Wine Trail.
Relax in this Victorian town's mud baths and sparkling hot springs!
Or head out to the redwoods, only 20 minutes away, and do ''the Loop'': stop in at the last of the free tasting rooms, Korbel Champagne Cellars, and savor gourmet sandwiches under the Redwoods in their outdoor cafe, with a glass of bubbly or your favorite microbrew. Then stop for a leisurely, level stroll at Armstrong Redwoods State Park, easy for non-hikers, and gaze at 350 ft. tall giants along fern-filled streams. After that, it's only about 15 min. to our wild Sonoma Coast, with it's famed coves an bluffs and many beautiful beaches. After a day at the beach, go south, and stop in for wine tasting on the sundeck of Gourmet au Bay, or watch the sun set eating huge fried oysters or other seafood in the picture window of Lucas Wharf Restaurant in Bodega Bay. Turn back in to the little town of Bodega, where Hitchcock's ''The Birds'' was filmed, and if the shops are still open, go antiquing.

Thanks so much for the wonderful house! We enjoyed our stay and all the
beautiful flowers only added to our "happiness"!
The wineries were super and all our "new" friends were the perfect hosts!
Thanks again for sharing with us,
My family all flew from east coast for family wedding. This eclectic home made it both affordable and pleasant. We had our own resort without the chaos. Everything you needed was there. There is a great "pay it forward" mentality, right down to laundry detergent .
If we head back that way we will certainly stay again
Nature in the back yard too !!!
This was a 50th birthday girls trip! There were 7 of us and it was a great trip! We were welcomed with wine and birthday cake, and the farmer next door brought us over a dozen fresh eggs which we immediately made the best breakfast with! This house is the perfect distance to the vineyards in Napa/Sonoma. Grocery store and restaurants/gas station steps away, but it is still very quiet and residential. The back yard has everything you need, pool, hottub and bbq which we used. Spent most of our time in the backyard and had some visits from some white tailed deer in the mornings! The house has everything you could possibly need to cook, clean, season, and every small appliance you would have at home. It was clean, the beds very comfortable, and if I get back to Napa I would stay there again. You won't be sorry you stayed at this house rental. Also, we booked an afternoon bike ride through Sonoma with Ace It Bike Rentals, it was a great way to spend the day! Enjoy Santa Rosa!
This was our first time to wine country and we selected this beautiful home in Santa Rosa as our place to stay. It was a family vacation, and the home was a perfect size and everyone had their own space. All of the bathrooms even included a lovely fragrance of soap, shampoo and conditioner. The kitchen was also filled with condiments and spices, which was great to already have for cooking.
The neighbor behind the home raised chickens and even brought us fresh eggs one morning. It was also fun in the morning to watch the chickens and even peacocks, through the kitchen window, stroll around the neighbors yard.
It was a bit chilly at night and the outside backyard had a fireplace, so we built a fire one night! The backyard is very relaxing and peaceful. The outside jacuzzi was also a perfect size and we could all fit in it, and even had nice spa towels to use with it.
The home was within walking distance to a great little breakfast spot that had delicious sandwhiches and danishes. There was also a Safeway within walking distance.
When booking the home, I had also told the hostess, that we were celebrating my Dad's birthday. When we arrived there was a lovely bottle of wine and a birthday cake with my Dad's name on it!
I would highly recommend this home for rental. We all want to go back! Aurora, the hostess, was very attentive to our needs, and all of her special touches were amazing! Thank you for making our vacation extra special!!
This mid century Santa Rosa home was filled with all the expected amenities including kitchen condiments, utensils, fine linens and toiletries. It also had a great charcoal grill with a wonderful outdoor eating area overlooking the pool and hot tub.
The bedrooms and beds are VERY comfortable. It was perfect for three couples visiting the wine country.
The host made our stay extra special with fresh eggs from the neighbors chickens and a wonderful bottle of wine. She even had a decadent birthday cake for us
We highly recommend a walk down to the corner french bakery for fresh croissants.
Communications and follow up from the owner were excellent. We would definitely stay here again.
It was the perfect home for our needs with a large family. With three bedrooms, we were able to comfortably sleep 3 in the bottom bedroom and 4 more upstairs. It was a real luxury to have 3 bathrooms for a large group! The backyard is peaceful and the pool was a delightful plus for all!
We found the backyard to be a beautiful place for entertaining. Indoor gathering spaces are also very nice. Some upgrading needs to be done as the cabinets and countertops are old and outdated. The five of us had an enjoyable stay.
When we stayed, we had heavy rains, thus an issue with ants. They were all over the kitchen countertops, in the dishwasher and living room fireplace area. We did inform the owner.
We are in the center of Wine Country, with major wine tasting roads, like Dry Creek and Alexander Valleys, Sonoma Valley, and Napa Valley's Silverado Wine Trail in every direction (hop on the Napa Valley Wine Train!) We are 20 min. from the Redwoods and Russian River for kayaking and canoeing, and 40 min. from the coast. 10 min. from downtown, with it's Wed. Night Market, and 15 min. from Healdsburg and it's Zagat rated restaurants. Safari West is 15 min. from house, and San Fran is less than an hr. away! The mud baths and hot springs of Calistoga, Napa's Victorian spa town, and the ivied walls and iris-filled moats of the famous Chateau Montelena are only 20 minutes away. It's the perfect jumping-off point to experience the best winery tours of both Napa and Sonoma Counties. There is something to do in every direction, but don't forget to relax at the house and pool!
5 min. from downtown Santa Rosa, one hr. north of S.F.
