Photos and Description of the Cougar Bay vacation house rental
Family home, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2.25 Baths, (Sleeps 8 max)

Comfortable log house. Big yard. Fire pit, ski tuning area, skit storage, art, yard, front porch, newly updated, ski storage, attached garage.

High on walk-ability and bicycling we are close to some great restaurants like Syringa, and Bistro on Spruce. Walk only 3 blocks to Pilgrims Organic Market & Deli for groceries and wine, and we're only a few blocks from Bicycle Sales and Service on 4th Street. http://www.bicycleservice.com/ .

Built in 1906 it was a working farm in its early days. The home was well cared for all those years, and in over 100 years we are just the 3rd owners.

The log house is a big 4-bedroom home with brand new eco-friendly super comfortable cushy beds – 2 queens, a king in the master bedroom, and a bedroom that features twin beds. A full-sized sofa bed in the den folds out for company and we provide a queen air bed if needed.

We furnished this majestic home in our eclectic, artsy, colorful and comfortable style, displaying a lot of northwest and local art throughout the house.

The front porch is wide and comfortable and features a big porch swing - wonderful for enjoying warm summer evenings.

The fenced back yard is huge and private - a great gathering place for you with Adirondacks, a fire-pit, picnic tables and a BBQ. There are lots of lilacs and fruit trees including 5 apple, 1 plum, and 1 pear.

Our location is perfect for freeway or downtown access and is very close to our favorite restaurants We are within a short walk to downtown and are very close to the up and coming midtown area with its cute shops and restaurants.

This house is a work of love for us and we look forward to sharing it with you.

Keywords: 4-bedroom/sleeps 8. Historic Log Home, High walk-ability @ downtown and mid-town, Great location for bicycling. Huge private yard, with a big tipi for kids.

About Carol

We are locals and have lived in the area for decades. Both of us spent our summer vacations on Coeur d'Alene Lake when we were kids and are grateful to now live full-time in the play area of our youth. Nick is a fireman and Carol is an RN who also authored and illustrated a popular local children's book called Raising Lucy. She works as an Artist in Residence in schools across the state of Idaho.

Carol purchased this house in 2011
Why Carol chose Cougar Bay

This is our home. We loved it for years before we bought it, because of it's a beautiful log home and because of the size of the lot - it is huge and private and is close to downtown and mid-town. There is something magical about the house. We wanted to be close enough to walk to downtown for Art Walk, the fireworks, and other events. We also liked the unique property and its history along with the fact that it is not smack dab right next door to neighbors. The house and its property has a woodsy in-the-forest feel.

What makes this house unique

Ski tuning area, ski storage, fire pit. Privacy. Unique woodsy setting - big sunny back yard. Tipi, patio, private back yard. Truly your own private Idaho!

Great accessiiblity to everything - town, skiing, restaurants.

This was a wonderful home to be at. Very clean and nice. A homey feel for sure and owners were great to work with. I would give it an excellent but does not having an upstairs shower. Had to go down 2 levels to basement bathroom which was beautiful, but not practical especially for older guests.
Owner's Response: We do agree about the upstairs bathroom, which is pretty big but has a roof slope that made it difficult to install a stand-up shower. In order to put it in we would have to do an extensive remodel so decided for the time being to install a spray nozzle in the bath upstairs to be more accommodating. People have enjoyed our big shower downstairs with heated bathroom floors, and the big hot water heater can handle quite a few people.

Well excceeded our expectations

We stayed here July 20-27,2012. The home is as beautiful as the pictures portray and beyond. The beds were extremely comfortable and dressed far better than some hotels I have visited. The property is beautifully decorated and very well maintained. The owners could not have been more welcoming and available for all our questions and needs. We loved the firepit in the backyard, and sitting on the front covered porch as well. The location is perfect, close to everything we needed. Our pets were welcome and comfortable as well. We will not stay anywhere else in Coeur d'Alene now that we have found this property and cannot wait to visit again...

Thie property description was right on and the photos give you an accurate picture of the facility and rooms. The amenities were just as described, the property was well maintained and most certainly clean and inviting. We only had one question and got a quick response giving us time to make some arrangements for our time there. I would highly recommend this property to a friend or relative, the property is walking distance to the downtown and other shopping such as grocery, bakery and gas making everything so convienient. There are many nearby restaurants and I would recommend Cedars and a local burger place in the downtown. The city park and lake are nearby with cruises on the lake very relaxing. The yard at the property offers unlimited possibilites for family gatherings, wedding receptions or any other such events. Cannot say enough about the wonderful stay we had and will certainly return if we have the opportunity again.

Wedding Visit - Family of (6)

We visited Coeur d' Alene and stayed at the log home for my nieces wedding this past August. The weather was great and the Log Home was perfect for our stay. My husand and I enjoyed having our grown children stay with us at the house. My daughter and her husband and my son and his finacee. The house was very clean and decorated so nicely. We enjoyed the yard and the fire pit. We grilled a couple of meals on the grill. There were two grocery stores very close by and it was convenient to shop. We did a lot of site seeing so there wasn't time to watch much TV. Though they have great entertainment systems throughout the house. If you enjoy old homes you will love this place. The very spacious updated shower in the basement was great. We would stay here again if we travel out west in the future.

We loved the house. It is beautifully restored and kept. There was plenty of room for 9 of us. I would recommend this property unconditionally to anyone. We will definitely consider renting it again if our plans take us back.
