The Best Ski and Vacation Cabin in Little Cottonwood Canyon

This Christmas we broke tradition, left all our family behind, and met friends for a week skiing in Utah, and this cabin was the most perfect home-for-a-week we could have imagined! We committed to the rental having seen only "under construction" photos, so we didn't really know what to expect. Walking in the door on Christmas Eve was the best Christmas present ever! The owners worked their tails off to get the cabin renovations finished down to the last candle arrangement on the table and stocking holders on the mantle so that we could walk in and make Christmas happen for the four little ones. It was beautiful! Coming from California and Virginia the kids don't get to see each other often, but they all happily disappeared into the magical kid's cabin-within-a-cabin upstairs, while the four grownups sprawled over the giant couch catching up. And yes, 17 feet of couch comfortably fits four adults and four kids, with room for more! As a vegan/vegetarian crowd, we really appreciated the fully stocked gourmet kitchen (and the WholeFoods not too far away) and spent many happy hours cooking and congregating in the kitchen. The owners anticipated every need we may have had, and we found the cabin fully furnished with top-quality linens, appliances, and so many extras (like the welcome basket and candy cane tree!) that I can't even list them. Alta and Snowbird are just a few minutes deeper into Little Cottonwood Canyon, and Solitude and Brighton are easy to get to in the next canyon over- we tried them all! The adults liked Snowbird best, but the kids (two 5years old, and two 8years old) preferred Solitude overall (although they did have one special favorite run at Snowbird). Despite being the least snowiest December on record, this was a wonderful week. And I know that our two families kicked off the start of a VERY Happy New Year for this special cabin!
