Ceiling to floor windows showcase the 180 degree ocean views, crashing waves, grasslands, forests, Albion River/ boat docks and our own secluded courtyard garden. Our pristine rural setting is home to abundant wildlife, but minutes from the finest restaurants, beaches, & the Village of Mendocino, for shopping/dining.

Gourmet Kitchen: There are numerous excellent places to dine in our area, but one of your favorites might well be at Seahorse itself! I love to cook and was always frustrated with the limitations I experienced in the kitchens of other vacation rentals. That is not the case here! Our kitchen offers just about anything you might need to prepare a fabulous meal and serve it in elegance, from full appliances & 'gadgets', linens, candles, & cabinets full of beautiful dishes and serving pieces. For your convenience, we stock the kitchen with the 'supplies' you'd find in your own - coffee, sugar, spices, oils, paper products, you name it! To top it all off, you can enjoy your meal looking out over the magnificent ocean, or marveling at the color & hummingbirds in our lush courtyard garden with water feature. If you'd like to prepare a more casual meal, we offer a Weber BBQ to cook up some of the local 'fare'. The Albion Deli, just 1/4 mile away, offers a wide selection of meats, produce, & a coffee bar!
Bedtime Comforts: Our dual master suites were designed for the ultimate in comfort and relaxation. Both suites have romantic rope lighting, oversized comfy robes, and the most amazing ocean views. It's important to sleep well when traveling and to insure you do, our beds, a combination of tempurdic mattresses & covers are the ultimate! Our microloft bedding is akin to being wrapped in the softness of a receiving blanket.(Or you may choose to enjoy 800 count Egyptian cotton) Pillows and comforters can be down filled, or foam/alternatives if you have allergies. Our north suite offers a large, walk in shower of gorgeous Italian tile, while the south suite boasts an infrared sauna, perfect for healing deep tissue aches & pains. Each suite offers a full compliment of bath products, hair dryers, and a CD/Am-Fm/Alarm/I-dock stereo unit. Combine all of this with a long 'soak' in the custom, sunken spa, overlooking the Albion Bay and under the amazing night sky, and you have the perfect recipe for sleep!
Fun in the Sun, Fog, Rain, Whatever!: Seahorse is located in the heart of the most beautiful beaches & walking trails in the area! You need go no further than the beach directly below to fish, watch the surf, or rent a kayak to explore the Albion River or, on a calm day, the sea caves in the Albion Bay. We have a long and very detailed list available to provide information on some of our favorites. Many are pet friendly too! If the weather isn't cooperating, you can still explore the fascinating Village of Mendocino with its many restaurants and shops, sure to delight, or head 20 minutes inland on Hwy 128 to enjoy the fabulous wine tasting opportunities & art. The Anderson Valley offers the charm of earlier times when you could sit down with the grape grower, in a non commercial setting, and learn all about the history of the vineyard and the wine you are enjoying. There are also three excellent sparkling wine producers too. If the day brings rain, just kick back and enjoy a crackling fire in the company of friends!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We cooked up some great meals in your well equipped kitchen and took advantage of a few of the local restaurants - my favorite was probably "Wild Fish" (the duck was incredible) but the Albion River Inn was fabulous and so close!
Duke and Rex (our dogs) felt right at home and loved our long walks. They'll definitely want to come with us when we come back - next time for much longer!
My husband and I are lifetime residents of the Reno/Tahoe area. While we adore the Sierras and the high desert, our hearts were always drawn to the beautiful north coast, and we spent many, many vacations there from the mid 70's until we purchased the parcel in Albion, that was soon to become Seahorse Cottage.
As retirement neared, we began construction - a lengthy process when dealing with the California Coastal Commission! Once the extensive ground work was completed and the construction began in earnest, we drove back and forth nearly every weekend as we were very 'hands on' with this project and completed a great deal of the work ourselves including all the tile, granite, landscaping, etc. It was truly a labor of love, and the final results were well beyond what we might have imagined in our wildest dreams. The amazing view we enjoyed from ground level when we bought the parcel, became a full 180 degree view once we enjoyed the elevation of the house and ocean view deck. We are pleased to be able to share our little piece of paradise and make every effort to insure that our visitors want for absolutely nothing during their stay.
When we first started visiting the north coast, we stayed in the Fort Bragg area, for the most part. As time passed and our familiarity with the area grew, we fell in love with the more southern part of the coast from Mendocino south, and especially Albion. For ten years prior to purchasing our parcel, we always rented homes in the immediate area and, on one of our visits, started seriously considering building a home and looking for a parcel. When, after several years of searching, we found the perfect lot, with the perfect views, we began designing our home and started the construction process. We loved the fact that while extremely private and rural, we were in the heart of the best beaches and restaurants around as well as only minutes from Mendocino. Having the little grocery store/deli, hardware store & post office, less than a five minute walk away, was such an added bonus as it afforded a great deal of convenience, without having to be in a more populated locale.
Once the 'noise' of the construction ended, all the wildlife we so enjoyed returned. Seahorse is home to a huge variety of birds, deer, fox, bunnies, you name it, and we all peacefully coexist on our 3.5 acre parcel of perfection!
Seahorse is very much a 'home' vs. a rental. We have prepared it with every amenity you'd find in your own home and take a great deal of pride in offering the 'total package'.
It's furnishings are upscale, but very cozy and inviting. The dual master suites were designed on each end of the home to afford total privacy for traveling couples. We incorporated many 'extras' to delight our guests and make every effort to have them feel right at home.
A guest's experience can be as varied as they are. We have the large deck overlooking the 180 degree views of the ocean, whitewater, Albion Bridge, Albion Bay and docks, forests, grasslands or, if the wind/weather don't permit, a lovely secluded courtyard garden with water feature for quiet contemplation. Our unique setting offers the feeling of being worlds away, yet beaches, restaurants and shopping are only a few minutes away, if one decides to 'venture' out.
We designed our home to insure amazing views from every window and the extensive use of glass and elevated position, reminds one of being in a 'tree house' where you can enjoy the flight patterns of the ocean going birds at 'eye' level. It's an awe inspiring experience.
The greatest benefit is the 'spirit' of Seahorse. It has such a welcoming presence and invites you to relax, recharge and connect with nature and yourself. You can absolutely feel all the love that was manifest in its creation.
Our beautiful North Coast is home to many local artists and craftspeople. There are numerous festivals throughout the year spotlighting music, art, film, crab, mushrooms and, of course, wine. Speaking of wine, don't miss the opportunity to spend some time in the Anderson Valley to enjoy wine tasting, as it was meant to be - fun, unpretentious, and relaxing. If you enjoy gardening - be sure to save time to tour the Botanical Garden, just a few miles south of Ft. Bragg. It's 47 acres that go right to the ocean's edge, and it's divided into many 'zones'. It's even dog friendly, so it's a wonderful place for you and your pup!
For the outdoors person, you are only limited only by your imagination and energy. Everywhere you look there are beautiful beaches and hiking trails, kayaks to rent or bicycles to enjoy the back roads of Big River. At the end of the day, there is nothing better than to claim a little patch of sand, and watch the sun bid farwell to another day in Paradise.

|Notes||Our all inclusive rate (tax, 11% bed tax, housekeeping, spa service, county fees, garbage hauling, etc.) is based on a two night minimum stay. Our housekeeping rate is determined by the number of bedrooms in use and resulting cleaning time required. The initial two night rate for the use of one suite is $645. For both suites $695. Thereafter the nightly rate is $260 regardless of occupancy use.|
