This beautiful Samara Reefs villa has spectacular, panoramic views of the ocean, the everchanging off-shore reefs, and the tiny island of Isla Chora. It is located within easy walking distance to wonderful, sandy, Samara beach and is only a 5-minute drive to the town of Samara or to the pristine neighbouring beach called Playa Carrillo. Villa Mirador is equipped with everything you would expect to find in a high-end, luxury beach-house: each of its four spacious bedrooms has an ocean view, the 2 master bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, there is a private infinity-edge pool, a large ultra-modern gourmet kitchen, a large living room and dining room, a huge upper outdoor deck, an even larger lower pool deck, a butler's pantry, an on-site care-taker couple, a security gate, comfortable lounge chairs, a wonderful outdoor barbecue area/wet bar, beach towels, even beach chairs to take with you to the beach.
Villa Mirador is, in every way, a perfect “getaway”. There are no neighbors' cars in sight, no roads in sight, in fact, no other people other than the caretakers … just complete privacy and tranquility. At Villa Mirador, what you WILL hear is the soothing sound of ocean surf, the sounds of the many songbirds, and, from time to time, the hooting and howling of several families of monkeys (Mantled Howler Monkeys) - all from your lounge chair on your deck. It is easy to see why the house is called Villa Mirador; a “Mirador” in English is a viewpoint or a balcony.
Throughout the Samara Reefs acreage and lined along the interlocking brick driveway there are many beautiful, well-maintained gardens featuring a stunning variety of beautiful and deliciously-scented flowers and shrubs that are prized by florists: red ginger plants, Gardenia, Bougainvillea, the very exotic Bird-of-Paradise flower, and Frangipani, which is the flower found in Hawaiian leis. What differentiates Villa Mirador from the other 6 Samara Reefs houses is that it is located at the farthest end of the driveway from the gated entrance. And, because it is situated a bit lower on the hillside, its 'yard' is a beautiful green mature jungle canopy native to this dry tropical rainforest. The huge trees, which you can practically touch from the kitchen sundeck, add to the feeling of serenity and beauty. This piece of preserved jungle canopy, which stretches down hundreds of yards towards Samara beach, is something you would only expect to find 'off the beaten path'.
This house was designed by one of Costa Rica's top architects, Karin Nagel, who is a Lecturer at the International Center for Sustainable Development in San José, Costa Rica and who was trained as an architect at the University of London. This house, in every way, makes the most of this gorgeous natural setting. Everything about its design is well-thought-out and there is great flow from room to room. All 4 bedrooms are very large, each with a king size bed (or 2 singles if you prefer), spectacular ocean views and stunning rock floors. The gourmet kitchen is fully outfitted, with ultra-modern European cabinets, a granite sit-up bar/wet bar for four - it is, without question, THE entertainment hub. Extras include a walk-in air-conditioned pantry and a butler’s kitchen with even more granite workspace.
As a guest of Villa Mirador, we welcome you to enjoy the centerpiece of Samara Reefs – the stunning waterfall feature located next to Casa Colibri (vrbo 383817). Every day the waterfountain comes on at 11:00 a.m. Water flows down through a series of pools carved into a rocky riverbed called “Rio Corto”, then flows over a wall, down into a shallow jungle pool below. Inspired by the waterfall and Hotspring pools at Tabacon Resort in Lake Arenal, this setting is just spectacular. And sitting UNDER the waterfall is spectacular because for a brisk, refreshing shoulder massage, there is absolutely nothing like it. Behind the waterfall is a cool shaded grotto with a concrete built-in bench. This provides a hidden spot to sit and enjoy the wonderful vista of Isla Chora. This is definitely an interesting spot to seek out during the hotter hours of the day. There are many many activities available in Samara, something different to keep you busy and entertained every day: surfing lessons, boogie-boarding, stand-up paddle boarding, renting ATVs, bicycles, go for a guided nature hike with Samara Trails, go zip-lining with the wonderful guides from WingNuts Canopy Tours, all highly rated. Ask Brenda at the Samara Info Center for her recommendations and check out their website.
