|Minimum Stay||2 - 3 nights|
PLEASE NOTE! $175 is base ( single in apt ) price only. Check taxes and fees section for details. Jan-March 2015, 3 night minimum.The house is situated at the end of a cul-de-sac high on a wooded hill overlooking The Hudson River and Catskill Mountains with some of the area's most breathtaking views. The sun sets right in front of the house every night and slightly to the south in winter. The two bedroom apt. is approximately 1000 square feet and located on the first floor of this modern and well maintained home. The apt is newly renovated. I installed new hardwood floors, sisal carpets, A/C and air purification system, new beds and bedding, some new furniture, fresh paint, new screens on porch and Flat screen TV. It has a well lit and private entry 50 ft.from parking. Bathroom with shower, large living room with fireplace ( firewood included ) which can accommodate more guests if necessary, Fully equipped kitchen, covered, screened in porch and large deck area with Small outdoor dining table, adirondack chairs and hammock.
I am an artist/designer living quietly upstairs. The two zones are very private and separate. The decor is tasteful, uncluttered and clean. Dogs are welcome depending on their temperament and size. Please mention ahead of time if you would like to bring your pup. They would not be permitted on furniture or beds and must be curbed on the premises and picked up after. I would love to share my idyllic setting and assist in anyway that might make your visit more comfortable.
The charming village of Rhinebeck is four miles north teeming with restaurants and shopping. i am surrounded on all sides by grand Hudson River Villas many of which are open to the public. I live in the midst of a NY State park where you will find miles of trails for hiking and biking. Norrie point is a public marina for sailing and kayaking. Southlands is an equestrian center just up the road. Further afield, Bard and Vassar Colleges have plenty to offer.. Tennis, indoor swimming, suana, art collections, music venues just to name a few. Hudson offers the best antiquing around while Millbrook has vineyards and the most bucolic country this side of 'The Pond', Downhill skiing is 45 minutes away, Catamount in the Berkshires or Windham and Hunter Mountains in The Catskills.
Keywords: Two Story Private Home, Owner lives upstairs in separate quarters.
I have lived in Rhinebeck since 1990, my family has lived here since 1832. My kids are happily living elsewhere and they left a big vacancy so I am wanting to fill it with polite, friendly travelers who are curious about this part of the world. I am an artist /designer who lives upstairs with my pug, who will be especially happy to see you! I love to travel myself and hope you will find everything here that you might have at home or would expect to find in a good hotel or fully equipped house. I am accommodating, quiet and unobtrusive. Please let me know if you need anything to make your stay more comfortable or if you want suggestions to explore the area.
Hilary Huntington purchased this apartment in 2004
I bought this property immediately upon seeing the view. I instantly saw the potential and love living here!
The long distance views and sunsets will make it hard to tear yourself away! While you drive through a neighborhood to get here, once you rise up the vertiginous drive and arrive at the house, you will think you are miles from civilization. It's peaceful, quiet and occupies the highest geological point in the immediate area.
My husband and I had a wonderful 4 night stay at Hilary's apartment. It's in a great location for touring the entire Hudson River Valley. We toured as far south as Sleepy Hollow and north to Olana and the towns of Catskill and Hudson. It's only a short ride to Hyde Park and just outside of the quaint town of Rhinebeck. The apartment is very comfortable with lots of large windows to enjoy the beautiful views of the Hudson River. Hilary is a very gracious host and easy to work with. We would definitely stay here again if visiting the area and would highly recommend it to others.
We, 3 Girls from Brooklyn, had the most amazing and relaxing time ! If you like to get away and unwind in a beautiful setting with a wonderful host, this is the perfect place ! Hilary is the best, we even skipped our dinner reservation one night to stay in and enjoy the fire she had so kindly prepared for us. Can highly recommend and hope to be back !
Well we returned and the stay was just as it was the last two visits. The only downside was that Hilary was not home but that didn't change our stay. We missed Hilary but she had the place still as beautiful, clean and nice as if she were there. I laugh because I love this home but I also fear writing such great reviews. When I want to return it will probably be booked. This was our first trip in the spring and the weather was great. The views of the Hudson were amazing to see every morning. The apartment has everything. The kitchen is well stocked and we used the electric grill every night. The place is as clean as the pictures show and there are no trick shots-what you see is what you get. We have stayed on vacations at different hotels all over but it is just that-a hotel. This home is a friends home allowing you all the privacy or interaction you want with the owner. The fireplace, screened in room off the bedroom, chairs and hammock on the porch just made our short stay so much more enjoyable. It is so much fun to go away and do nothing or do a lot of running around and knowing when it is time to go back to your place to sleep it is not the end of your fun for the day. Hilary has made this apartment such a peaceful and tranquil place to rest your head. I travel to different places a few times a year and this place is one place that is always on the calendar. Funny as I think about this last trip I have been here in 2012, 2013 and now in 2014. I plan on another trip in 2014 and more in years to come. I have to say that this home is my favorite place to visit when I just want to get away. Besides the home, there is a Super Stop and Shop within 10 minutes and the town to shop in quaint stores. After leaving the house on my way back to "reality" I always say see you soon to the apartment rather than this was a nice trip. Hilary has a sign in guest book and if you get to stay there just read our comments in October 2012, July 2013 and April 2014. Thank you again Hilary. Tom, Jacki and Desi
Incredible views, very cozy home - GREAT fireplace and fantastic owner! We had a wonderful time, felt very comfortable and at ease. The house is located in a great spot - easy drive to Rhinebeck, Red Hook, Millbrook, etc. Can't wait to go back and bring friends!
This rental home exceeded my expectations in every regard. The property is well-maintained and you truly feel like you have come home. The owner is kind and makes sure everything is perfect without being obtrusive. It was simply the perfect retreat. The views are magnificent and I could have stayed on and been very happy. My only regret was that I only had 4 days to stay in the area.
I highly recommend this property. And would happily book again.
We rented this apartment for a girl's weekend for four adults. We cooked, we enjoyed the comforts, we watched the gorgeous sunsets over the Hudson-our stay was even better than we had hoped. Hilary has made this a true respite for travelers. The location is perfect to head into Rhinebeck for shopping and restaurants. They have an incredible Farmer's Market on Sundays, don't miss it! We also spent some time tooling around local vineyards, enjoying wine tastings and a grape stomping festival. The beds are very comfortable and the apartment is well off the beaten path (while being convenient to all the sights and local entertainment) to be quiet and restful. Many thanks to Hilary for her suggestions on places to eat, and things to do, and on her warm hospitality.
