Beauty and ambiance of Kauai's unparalleled North Shore.
Privacy, natural beauty, deep country living, and walks on the beach.
The Tiki Hut is one of the best-kept North Shore Kauai secrets. You walk into a quiet, relaxing tropical paradise resembling Limahuli Botanical Garden just up the road. The landscaped yard features a giant tiki surrounded by lush plantings, including orchids of every description. The hut itself is perfect for two people with a compact but convenient kitchen, living room and dining room and a charming bedroom and bath, with two lanais (one off the bedroom, one off the living room) perfect for outdoor dining. Malahini (visitors) are welcomed by the Martins’ sweet yellow lab, Nugget, the official greeter. The property is a quick walk down a dirt road to magnificent Tunnels Beach where, if you’re lucky, you’ll see a snoozing monk seal hauled out for a nap. All in all, the Tiki Hut is a delightful Kauai getaway, and we look forward to coming back.
When we arrived we were completely taken by the charm of the Tiki Hut and proximity to the beach. The property and surrounding gardens were in immaculate condition. Set in a backdrop near the Napali Coastline, this was the perfect respite for a relaxing vacation in a tropical setting. The hosts were sensitive to every detail to make our stay as relaxing and private as possible. We spent most evenings on the lanais listening to the distant surf and gazing at the landscape-lit gardens. I would highly recommend this rental to my friends and family.
(I know this isn't the owner's fault. The weather was not good). I thought, from the pic's on the site, that the hut was farther from the house. I 'm guessing 25' door to door. Don't leave your blinds open, because when you walk down to the beach, C.B. will look in your window's and see THEIR candles lit on THEIR kitchen cabinets. Maybe 3" candles in glass housing's. Then when you get back you get scolded!! Sorry, I was a fireman for 30 years. It wasn't by drapes or a wall, or under a cabinet. Don't leave candles for tenants to light!!! Then when you park your rental car, you have to park it out by the trash cans, on an unlit dirt and gravel one lane road, right by the main road, where you then have to manually open a drive through gate to walk to your place. Nugget, the dog, was great!!! They also have a BEAUTIFUL yard.
Aloha! The Tiki Hut was a perfect place to turn 50! Thanks to hosts Toni,CB & Nugget! Love the North Shore! We enjoyed the short private walk to Makana Beach. Great surf fishing spot as well. Don't miss a visit to Limahuli Gardens. Great hiking near by.The Gardens at the Tiki Hut are beautiful, a nice private Oasis.Don't forget to paint a coconut while kicking back & enjoying the Oasis. We loved the quiet layed back feel of the North Shore compared the South Shore....looking forward to coming back....Mahalo!
This was our second time staying at the Tiki Hut, but not our last. Toni and C.B. Are the perfect hosts. The cottage is immaculate upon arrival and they add some great touches. Nugget the doggy is such a sweet dog. I can't stop kissing him. The nearby beach is gorgeous and has just the right amount of people. I highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to relax and do nothing!
We absolutely loved our stay at the Tiki Hut. If you're a fan of the lush beauty and relative remoteness of the north shore, this is an ideal location. Literally 3 minutes' walk from Tunnels Beach, and just 2 miles down the road from Ke'e Beach and the Kalalau Trailhead. The cottage itself is very clean, charming, and well-appointed. We were pleasantly surprised to find a welcome basket of treats, some wine and other beverages chilling in the fridge, and a number of small appliances and other conveniences in the kitchen, including a rice cooker, blender, etc. The grounds are beautifully kept, with lots of tropical greenery and peaceful little nooks. Toni and CB were the perfect hosts - available, but very low key and non-intrusive. And Nugget the dog was also a friendly host and greeter! We would not hesitate to recommend the Tiki Hut to our friends and hope to come back for another stay someday.
