There is no telephone connection but Broadband is available by dongle for 30 Euro a week. You will find a contemporary kitchen with everything you could possibly need including ice maker and a dual zone wine cooler - red wine at ambient temperature is often a bit warmer than we are used to!
The master bedroom with its centrally placed super-king bed looks out through double doors across fragrant lavender to the pool - just right for that early morning dip! There are walk-in showers in each of the 3 bathrooms and designer fittings throughout plus a double ended Philippe Stark bath in the family bathroom.
Outside is a built in BBQ and a full size wood burning pizza oven. Generous gardens and orchard provide seasonal fruit, vegetables and herbs for guests. Beneath the cloisters, the stone table comfortably seats 8 for shaded al fresco dining. There is modern rattan lounging furniture for your aperitivo - sun loungers and double hammock for your sun tan. Life at Masseria Matera is all about relaxation and enjoyment.
Interesting places to visit further afield include Metaponto with its ancient Greek archeology and expansive beach and Lido - 30 minutes drive away. Montescaglioso the city of monasteries can be seen from the terrace as can the hill top towns of Pomarico and Miglionico. For day excursions you can visit Alberobello - the Trulli town, Lecce the Florence of the south, Maratea the Pearl of the Tyrrhenian, to name just a few.
Enjoy an early morning espresso in the still morning air before breakfast. Dip in the pool. Read your latest novel or marvel at the history guides. Dip in the pool.
