Portside is a luxury condo with the charm of a cottage on the ground floor of the 3-unit Back Bay Cottage, built in 2006. We are next to the Chowder House and kayak and bike rentals and just one block from the footbridge. The cottage is in the heart of the harbor and yet you will find tranquility and privacy inside. Over thirty coffee shops and restaurants and numerous shops are within an easy walking distance, including many places open year round.

Portside shares a dock and float with the other two Back Bay Cottage units and has its own deck on the water’s edge. Comforts include state-of-the-art kitchen and appliances, gas fireplace, gas grill, flat screen TVs, a large video collection, wine cooler, iPod stereo, Wi-Fi and free reserved parking. All linens, towels, paper products and basic condiments provided.

Why The Owner chose Boothbay Harbor

Although I just purchased this home at the end of 2010, I have been vacationing in Boothbay my entire life (since the age of three weeks) and my family has been vacationing in the area since 1914, owning property in the region and spending summers here since the 1930s. Whether this is your first time in the region or you have been coming for years, I hope you enjoy your stay to the fullest and discover why this place is so special to me and my family.

Boothbay Harbor is a small town on the coast of Maine with a year-round population of just over 2,000 people that was established as a fishing camp and whose economy and whose spirit are linked to the fishing industry to this day. Boothbay draws more and more visitors each year, in the summer season, for the fall foliage and to a steadily increasing extent, in the off season months. The town offers numerous boat excursions including trips to nearby islands and whale watching and deep sea fishing tours, historical sites, a world-class botanical garden, an aquarium, numerous shops and art galleries, a network of hiking trails, sea kayaking, sailing, while not losing sight of its small town New England traditions. And of course the seafood cannot be matched anywhere in the world (and believe me, I’ve tried!)

Perfect in Every Way!

My sister and our 89 year old dad spent two wonderful weeks at Abby's place. This condo offers pure luxury - and its immaculate! The kitchen has every amenity imaginable and a stunning black stone farmhouse sink. We road out Sandy which brought high winds and rain for a day and a couple of days later a nor 'ester brought snow.

Through it all we never lost power and felt cozy and safe in front of the gas fireplace. The cottage is a short block to town where you'll find the shop owners welcoming and helpful. We stayed late in the season which is our preference to avoid crowds. Some shops and restaurants were closed but we found plenty open. Mama D's became one of our favorites - casual, friendly and great comfort food.

Abby was always available by email and when we asked if we should tie down the deck furniture she had the caretaker come over and take care of it immediately. We've rented vacation homes from Southern California to Carmel by the Sea, the Dordogne and Theoule sur Mer - the Back Bay Cottage will always remain one of our favorites! We would highly recommend it!

Beautiful!!

If you are looking for a relaxing, beautifully decorated, turn-key condo on the coast of Maine, the Back Bay Cottage-Portside is the place to stay. I can not say enough wonderful things about our visit here. My elderly parents, brother and I stayed at the condo for four days and wished we never left. The condo is so comfortable, beautifully furnished, and extremely clean with every amenity you could think of needing. We even picked up fresh lobsters and clams across the bay and every pot, pan, and utensil was stocked in the kitchen for the freshest seafood dinner consumed in the three weeks we were traveling. Abby, the owner, is a gem! She had a welcome basket waiting for us upon arrival and answered every question promptly during the planning of our trip. The property is conveniently located within walking distance to numerous restaurants, bars, and shopping in Booth Bay Harbor. Also it is a great location for exploring the coast of Maine and its numerous lighthouses. I would highly recommend this fabulous condo! Thank you Abby!

Comfortable luxury

Stayed a week at this spacious harbor view condo with all amenities. Owner goes the extra mile to make you comfortable. What a kitchen! Easy access to town. Be sure to visit the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens just a few miles away. Lots of recommendations for all area activities written by owner who knows this area from years of personal experience.

Wonderful!

We had a terrific time in this beautiful condo with our 3-year-old twins! It is a terrific in-town location for walking to restaurants, shops, ice cream, boat tours, etc. We followed Abby's advice and did a ton of picnicing. Some of our favorite adventures included:

- Dinner at McSeagull's
- Dinner at Lobster Dock
- Downeast Ice Cream
- Kayaking (right next door)
- Hendrick's Head Beach with a picnic
- Farmer's Market (Thursday morning)
- Lunch at Lobsterman's Wharf in East Boothbay
- LOVED East Boothbay General Store for picnic supplies
- Reid State Park
- Pemaquid Beach Park
- Cap-n-Fish's Seal Cruise
- Scenic drive through Ocean Point in East Boothbay
- Grilling on the deck with fresh lobster and scallops

We highly recommend this terrific condo (which felt much more like a cottage)!

Beautiful condo, outstanding convenience, and great views!!!

We had a great stay in Boothbay. This condo is beautiful, extremely well appointed and super cozy. The condo has modern appliances and fixtures while the decor emphasizes Maine and the sea. The info provided by the owner is really helpful too. It's truly a place where you can escape a busy life. You can hang out in the den and read a book or watch a movie. You can spend hours watching the birds and the tide coming in an out on the deck. Or you can watch the sunrise. The location is great too. You can walk to everything.

The condo was clean and the pictures represent it well.

I recommend this condo. It's definitely a place we will return to.
