When you arrive at Hedgegate, you'll immediately feel right at home in this beautifully decorated ocean view home. For one thing, the furniture is stylish and comfortable. Throughout the house you'll find enjoyable art from around the world and original local art; the kitchen is fully stocked with just about everything you might imagine for meal preparation right down to the olive oil, and service for eight. An extensive video & music library ,board games are more than adequate for everyone, unless of course you would rather just sit on the deck and enjoy the great outdoors which is located right outside in all directions. With an ocean view from the hot tub that's always ready you'll enjoy the scenery and view no matter what weather's on the horizon.

If I didn't enjoy my work as an art curator, I'd choose to live at this wonderful home we call Hedgegate House. Instead, I have chosen to share it with others who may enjoy it as much as I do.
Hawley Holmes purchased this house in 2000
The Sea Ranch on the North Coast is far enough away to get away and close enough to our daily life to make it possible more often than not. About 115 miles from San Francisco but a world away.......
Very Private Location at end of cul-de-sac Four Miles to town and four miles to Sea Ranch Lodge. Walk to Shell Beach.......
Basically, the perfect location.
This was our second stay at Hedge House. The house offers a good deal of privacy and has a nice ocean view complete with deer and wild turkeys. The house is spacious, comfortable, and nicely decorated. The
kitchen is very well equipped. The owner maintains the property and everything is clean and in working order. There is a terrific wood stove for cozy fires in the living room. The house is located in northern Sea Ranch and is close to the town of Gualala. And finally the owner Hawley is delightful and helpful.
My husband and I just spent five splendid days at Hedgegate, our third time there. The weather (except for one day of mixed rain and sun) was amazing, as were the sunsets. We love everything about the house, especially the owner's aesthetics and the privacy. It's like living in a secluded park with deer and wild turkeys wandering through now and then. So many interesting things to look at (inside and out). We returned home feeling thoroughly replenished.
Thank you for a wonderful opportunity to spend a relaxing week on the northern California coast in a peaceful, comfortably elegant and well-appointed home. We settled in easily and enjoyed the spacious layout, plentiful natural light and privacy. Although the house is quite close to Highway 1, there was not a lot of traffic noise, especially at night, and we could hear the ocean waves from the bedroom. The trees around the back of the house, along with its situation at the end of a cul-de-sac, lend a sense of seclusion to the property. We took several walks each day along the extensive network of Sea Ranch bluff trails, enjoying miles of spectacular views. We also liked the convenience to both the town of Gualala, a few miles north, and places to the south of Sea Ranch, such as Fort Ross and Salt Point State Park. The house itself was clean, well maintained and pleasant, with many thoughtful details. There were just two of us, but we could imagine that a family or two couples would find the house more than adequate. The perfect early-winter retreat!
Thank you so much for a relaxing stay in your home. We will be back. For fellow travelers: The location is great. Some of the Sea Ranch properties are more out in the open. Fellow residents can see you sitting on your porch or even, in your home. Not this house, nestled behind some trees at the end of a cul-de-sac, it is very private and quiet. There is no road noise from nearby Route 1, either. Both floor level bedrooms have on-suite bathrooms - ideal for two couples. The latter loft is for the young or the young at heart. If you have more than two couples, one of the on-suite bathrooms can be made accessible to all. Everything we needed for cooking was provided. Plenty of spices and pots and pans. The view is wonderful. Not a white water view but it is never interrupted by people walking in front of your house. You can sit for hours just enjoying the whitecaps on the ocean or grab some binoculars (provided) and see if you can catch a whale swimming by. It is a short walk to the bluffs and a little longer one to "Walk-on Beach". Enjoy!
Now I see why so many reviews indicate "Romantic Getaway" and "Age 55+"...the categories are way tooo limited. We love this home, the two "masters" are a huge plus, the open floor plan is welcoming and the proximity to the shore is amazing. Great walks, stargazing and well stocked kitchen make for an enjoyable relaxing retreat. Great for two couples or a small family!! Enjoy!
My wife, two kids and I felt at home right away and loved the private, comfortable feel and view. Also all the easy access to the outdoor space. We really appreciated how well stocked the kitchen was not to mention all the films. We will be back!
