Nice for the price

House fair, good access to harbor

Owner failed to mentioned that a large (approx. 26' long) sailboat was being kept at the small concrete dock behind the house. Owner has contract with sailboat owner and told me his contract required he give sailboat owner "notice well in advance" so he can move his sailboat if necessary. I had informed the owner a week in advance I would be bringing a boat and I believe it reasonable to expect the dock that was pictured in the ad would be available for my use. Owner at first suggested I dock my boat behind one of his other properties on a different street. He did eventually get the boat moved but in my opinion, this was not a hassle I should have had to deal with.

After booking the reservation on a Sunday I received an email from owner that he would be providing information about how to access house. As of the following Thursday (day before I was to arrive at house) I had not received any information from owner about how to access property. I sent him an email saying I would be traveling the next day could he please email or call with details about how to get into house. After not hearing by owner by 10:30AM on the first day I was to arrive at house, I called him. When I asked owner why he had not contacted me earlier he got what I considered to be an attitude.

If you do rent this place, and plan to fish off the dock or tie your boat up there, you might want to check and make sure that amenity will be available for your use - and don't plan on sleeping in the day you leave - checkout time is 9:00AM.

Owner's Response: Notice is not for the sailboat owner but for me, to facilitate the moving of the boat should a Guest need need docking. 90% of the guests do not bring a boat. You did not tell me that you were bring a boat until 11 pm after your checkin. 9 hours AFTER checkin.
The contract discloses the docking terms:
"Property has a boat dock and may have boat lift as well. There may be a boat moored at such dock. Guest can use dock regardless of a boat at the dock or not. If Guest wants to use the dock for Guest’s own boat or a rental during the rental period above, Guest must declare such use to owner 60 days prior to reservation."
For shorter term bookings, I'll accept reasonable advance notice and move the boat as requested. Your notice of your intent to use the dock 9 hours after checkin at 11 PM, would require the boat to be moved next morning. Thats what happened. To help you out, I offered substitute docking for the night at a property very close by. Not sure why you found that to be a problem, it was a solution offered in good faith.
As for the 9 am checkout time, this was disclosed in the contract and during the checkout procedure. So was the checkin time of 3 PM. When you called me you asked for early checkin and I agreed, waiving the $50 early checking fee. If you would have asked for late checkout, I would have given that to you also, but you chose to ignore the free early checkin and complain about the contracted 9 AM checkout time.
As for the access email, these are sent after the access code is programmed by the cleaning crew and ready for the incoming Guest. Usually this happens night before or same day if previous Guests checks out at 9 AM. You called me and I gave you the access info immediately, and gave you free early checkin. Not sure why you see that as an attitude. ( I was driving a 40' RV on US10 in Texas, in the rain, with 18 wheelers passing me on both sides, at the time of your call. It is illegal to be on the phone under those conditions, which is why I was trying to get your access info and give you free early checkin as fast as I could for the safety of my family while driving. If you saw that as "attitude" then so be it. )

You got access information the day before your checkin, what is the problem?
This house is completely remodeled with all Brand New furniture, appliances, and everything. "Fair" enough for your 4 days.

Recently renovated home/cooperative owner/nice location

The owner was very accomadating and purchased all the items that we requested. The kitchen had many appliances and all the necessary kitchen tools. The house was recently renovated with attractive furninshings, the den was not finished. Very quiet neighberhood, felt safe.
The rental was easy to find. Photos are accurate.

My wife and I and a couple of old friends spent there 12 days.

Came from Europe to spend some time with family.
Description of location was accurate but the photos did not give a full appearance of the house, specially
with the respect to furniture of bedrooms (one bedside table in each bedrooms). The property seemed
not to well mantained as far as fans and lights were concerned. As for cleanliness we found many traces of previous gests in bathrooms and no chance to do some work ourselves (no brooms or vacuum cleaner nor other cleaning means). As for the ownwer, although responsive to all our messages, we had hoped he would show up to express directly to him our impressions but, of course, he did not have to.
Very positive for the location the nearess of a mall with many stores.
We would have welcomed the gas at the BBQ!
We used to visit a very good italian restaurant at 4343 McCall, Englewood though not so close. I would recommend this property but to avoid disappointment only to people not with big expectations.

Owner's Response: Although I am actively involved in meeting and greeting all customers, your particular stay was clouded by an emergency trip to Upstate NY where my father was hospitalized. I always provide a handshake, a smile and special needs requests are always honored towards my customers. I pride myself on presenting the properties in tip top shape and with the warmest reception.

When you left I did see a light out on one of the ceiling fans. There were multiple replacement lamps of several types, in the laundry room closet where you could have also found, a broom, dustpan, mop and a full compliment of cleaning supplies. I have since added a new vacuum cleaner to the property.

Even though thru most of your stay I was in New York, I carry my cell phone 24x7 and a simple call to my cell would have resulted in instructions as to the locations of the replacement bulb and mop/broom.

Additionally, we do provide full tanks for the Gas Grill, all you had to do was ask, if the tank that was there was empty, and was replaceable with a full one from the shed. Again, a simple call would led to to a solution.

The photos were done in every room and we are limited as to the number of photos that we can use, but they clearly show each and every piece of furniture in the property. As for a request for additional furniture, I have had requests for additional patio furniture before, and immediately went to Lowe's and purchased exactly what the customer requested. As for interior furniture, this has never happened before, I get compliments on the interior design, remodel and furnishings on each and every rental, and again, if you would have called me to express your concern about a single bedside table in each bedroom, I could have inquired to the local furniture store where I have furnished 6 properties, to add the items.

For your info, you may ask why the bedrooms only did have a single bedside table, if you actually had two, the one closest to the closet door would hit the closet door and damage the table. But in the spirit of cooperation, I will order additional bedside tables for both bedrooms, as per your request.

I only wish you could have expressed to me your concerns when you were there, I could have handled them and giving you information that you wanted that could have answered your concerns and provided you with a better experience. I feel this is a 5 star property and a 2 star rating is unfair.
