This stylish property is steps from the beach, beach volleyball courts and the world famous leash-free Dog Beach! Several award winning restaurants are only a short walk away (within 1 block). There is a high-end organic grocery store just 4 blocks from this property. There are also wonderful wine bars, pubs and boutique shops within 3 blocks. The main street of Ocean Beach is Newport Avenue which is also a short walk from this property. Many famous restaurants featured on Food Network are along Newport Avenue as well as access to the famous Ocean Beach Fishing Pier. SeaWorld is less than one mile from your rental and you can watch the fireworks shot from SeaWorld from your deck every night during the summer season. Ocean Beach and your rental is ideally located and just a few minutes from all attractions!
This property is one side of a 3-story duplex. The entire building is available as well. Simply see our other listing. The yard is completely fenced and immaculately landscaped. There is off-street parking at the back of the property and a shed filled with recreational items for you to enjoy (ie. boogie boards, bikes, surfboards, etc.) The property has 2 bedrooms on the first floor and a full bathroom. In addition, there is a front loading washer and dryer for your convenience. The second floor boasts a large open floor plan with a half bath and a full kitchen including eat-in island. You can watch the waves crash while cooking dinner or sitting at the island drinking a glass of wine. The living room has a wood burning fireplace and 42' flat screen TV with DVD player and VCR, all of which add to the vacation feel!
From the living room you can step out onto your private ocean view deck and relax on your deep seated patio furniture or grill up the perfect BBQ dinner on your gas grill! Sea World provides a wonderful fireworks show every night throughout the summer which can be seen from you deck. Finally, you can retire in the top bedroom where you can lay in bed and hear the ocean play you a lullaby while watching the waves roll in from your 'bird's nest view' windows. Open them up to smell the ocean and the beach bonfires! It's the perfect vacation potpourri!
We were a group of 9 that stayed a week. For the price, it worked out well for us. We weren't expecting anything exclusive, more of a cottage, maybe one level up from glamping. We managed to get around the shortcomings, eg, we put garbage bags on the deck cushions, so created extra seating. We also rearranged the living room furniture to create a more user- friendly walk-through area. We didn't use the front lawn, maybe to hang up beach towels. The kitchen was functional though we had to buy a kettle, which we left behind. We made dinner every night, so saved $ that way. BBQ grill was dirty but we cleaned it and was able to use it. Regarding linens, a quick text to GD solved everything as K came by within 2 hours. And he brought extra fans with him as requested. And he fixed the leaky toilet and replaced the shower faucet too. Area is great, quiet, and we enjoyed seeing the dogs on their way to the beach. I would rent again for a large group.
First impression:"immaculately landscaped yard" is actually fake grass and two palm trees and a yard full of broken furniture and torn cushions that don't even fit the furniture. The downstairs bunk bed room did not have linens on the bed and there were no extra linens to be found in the house. Oh, and the bedroom came with fleas/bed bugs because our three boys are covered in bites now. The whole downstairs was musty and stinky from the old and stained carpeting (presumably from the pets allowed) and the apparent sewer issue that the unit has. "Top bedroom where you can lay in bed and hear the ocean play you a lullaby" - the only things you can hear up there is traffic noise, people on the street and the AIRPLANES FLYING LITERALLY RIGHT ABOVE YOUR HEAD, the location is soooooo noisy. The furniture in the living room was broken, mismatched/random and not as displayed in the photos. The unit is not small kid friendly, with lots of hard surfaces, a glass counter and literally no where to eat a meal except for the high bar stools. Other that the bathroom toiletries that were provided, the house was poorly stocked, ie. we rented the house for 9 people and there were 7 forks in total found in the kitchen, only 4 bath towels, no wash cloths, no kitchen towels or cloths, etc. Also, there were no cleaning supplies in the house, not even a broom or counter spray to tidy up during our stay, we had to supply all of that stuff. The location is as described, within walking distance to town, restaurants, the beach, but they failed to mention that the entire area smells like dog pee and almost all the houses are run down shacks. OB is "unique", hopping with people and a great surfing beach, so if you are young and broke this house would probably be fine, otherwise, forget it.
This place was a nice beach house to spend the weekend in OB. The balcony was my favorite part. The view was wonderful. The fenced front yard was great for the dogs and also a nice place to relax. We walked to the beach and Newport ave. with ease and enjoyed the scenery.
A few suggestions from me are to please provide more bath towels(5 of us shared 4 towels), and change out the broken, uncomfortable couch in the living room.
Very nice location close to beach. Centrally located with easy access to I-8, makes sightseeing a breeze. Beds were comfortable, 3rd floor bedroom provides privacy. Unit is half of a duplex, both are rentals. There was a family with lots of small kids next door and I was worried, but we never heard a peep. The parking gets very tight when both units are rented, but it works. The internet was an issue, connectivity was shoddy, and having teenagers that was a problem. Teenagers constant complaining about lack of internet kept this from being an excellent stay. But for the money I saved not paying for two hotel rooms and being at the beach made up for it. I would stay again, fix internet though. Note: OB is in the flight path so you do hear planes frequently and the neighbors get loud but shut it down at 10pm. This didn't bother us though.
We had a great time! We were a little crammed with 7 adults and 5 children but we made it work and had fun with being so cozy. My favorite part of the house was listening to the parrots and being so close to the beach, the kids loved that.
The location is very close to many attractions and points of interest.
There are a lot of homeless in the area which is sad to see.
Genoa was very pleasant to work with. She also gave me some pointers of places to visit in San Diego.
A very wonderful experience my family enjoyed staying at these condos; yes, we stayed in both. Comfortable, affordable, owners always answering questions, right across from the beach, within walking distance of shops and restaurants, the Ocean Beach Pier and Sunset Cliffs. Absolutely the best condo I have ever stayed in and highly recommend you to try it.
